Heights

(Gajeel x Levy)

"Oh no!" Levy screamed as she bolted up in bed. "No!" Levy yelled as she looked at her alarm clock. She threw her bed covers off and raced to her chair where luckily she laid out her outfit the night before. "I can't believe I over slept! I knew I shouldn't have stayed up to finish that book," Levy muttered angrily at herself as she changed and went to brush her teeth and hair. It wasn't long with her haste before she was running out her door.

The one day she overslept just had to be the one day Magnolia was playing host to her favorite bad and they were going to start playing any second now. Levy rushed down the stairs of the apartments, she could already hear the lead singer talking to the audience, getting them hyped up. "I'm gonna be stuck in the back for sure now," Levy whined as she rounded the corner and slammed into something hard. "Gajeel?" Levy asked, recognizing the familiar shape. As Gajeel turned to face Levy, she saw how massive the crowd was and her heart sank. "I'll never see anything now," Levy sighed. She could barely even see the stage.

"What's wrong, Shrimp?" Gajeel asked, slightly annoyed with all the people around. "And what's with the crowd?"

"The band, Linkin Park, is playing here today and because I overslept, I can't see a thing."

"That doesn't sound like Linkin Park to me," Gajeel commented.

"It's just the opening act," Levy answered, her head hanging low.

"This means a lot to you doesn't?" Lily asked, startling the bluenette.

"Yeah, and today just had to be the day I overslept."

Lily shot Gajeel a look and the Dragon Slayer frowned.

"Dammit Shrimp, after this, you better start drinking more milk to grow taller," Gajeel grumbled before picking the petite girl up.

Levy squeaked in surprise as she was picked up and placed on Gajeel's shoulders. She clung to his head as she got accustomed to the sudden height difference.

"Wow, Gajeel, I can see everything from here!" Levy called as she started tapping her fingers to the beat of the music on Gajeel's head. The man frowned but tightened his grip on the girl's thighs.

Lily looked over to Gajeel and saw his face relax as he started to enjoy the music too. The Exceed smiled as he summoned his wings and flew up onto his head Levy smiling and wrapping an arm protectively around him.

"I used to be afraid of heights, you know," Levy said.

"I never would have guessed," Gajeel teased.

Levy ignored the smart remark. "Now I don't think I mind them," the girl smiled.

"So long as you don't start using me as an excuse to get books on the high shelves."

"But that's where they recently started putting all the books I like," Levy pouted teasingly.

Gajeel let out a sigh, but Levy could sense his smile.

"He is putty in your hands," Lily said to the girl.

"What was that furball?" Gajeel called, but Levy and Lily only laughed harder.
