Home Is Where the Heart Heals Chapter Sixteen
"I'm sure you're wondering what all that was?" Loki waved vaguely in the direction of the paved circles.
"Yes, though it was helpful since the transportation spell was quite… disconcerting." Frigga nodded.
Loki tilted his head with a small frown. "Was it?" He hummed. "I supposed I was too out of it in my first moments to notice. I'll be sure to take that in consideration as I try to fine-tune the spell… That back there is the Magnolia LongRange Teleportation Rings. Since teleportation is a recently growing form of transportation they've created areas where teleportation magic is drawn in and distributed into predestined locations."
"Basically, they don't want people accidentally teleportin' into the middle of the streets and gettin themselves killed so they made it so if you try teleportin' into the city you'll end up in one o' those circles." Gajeel rolled his eyes. "Stop bein' so… technical."
"My mother actually understands my proper speech, thank you." Loki mock sniffed and raised his chin snobbishly. Frigga hid her smile behind a hand as Thor watched with raised brows. "That over there is Amity Park, quite an interesting area, according to Aleena there are more than a few spirits wandering its grounds…"
Loki spoke calmly and surely as they navigated the streets. Thor found the streets were a bizarre mix of Asgard's own and those of Earth's busier cities. It was a hassle to cross most streets and the mix of animal drawn carriages and almost car-like vehicles caused a loud conglomeration of sounds that almost drowned out speech until Loki cast a silencing spell.
He continued pointing out different sights around the city as they traveled until they began walking alongside a lake path leading to a large wooden building. With the insignia it was obvious that this was Fairy Tail.
"It's very large compared to the other buildings we've seen." Frigga noted in amusement.
"Yes, the guild is one of the bigger ones in Fiore." Loki smiled slightly. "I will warn you now, the guild gets into brawls very often. I find a simple shield spell keeps them out but I suggest keeping your head about you for flying objects… and people." He laughed at their faces before opening the door.
Thor and Frigga looked around with curiosity as they all walked in. Various people scattered around at the tables looked up in interest and a few waved and greeted Loki with smiles.
"Loki, Gajeel! Wow, you two must be Frigga and Thor!" A small women with surprisingly blue hair ran up to them. She grinned happily and stuck her hand out. "I'm Levy McGarden, Loki's a really good friend of mine."
Frigga shook her hand with a smile. "It's good to meet you, Loki spoke of you in his book." Thor shook her hand next, careful to not crush the tiny hand in his own large ones. She blushed at the comment and smiled shyly.
"Well I know I'm not the only person who wants to meet you," She pointed over to the bar, where a white haired woman was hurriedly pulling off an apron and rushing over. "Oh, Loki, Gray's out in the practice field with Natsu. Erza kicked them out there after they nearly broke the bar again." She laughed casually not noticing the widened eyes of the two Asgardians. Loki smirked.
"Well I'll be sure to bring them by the practice field at some point." Loki chuckled and began introducing Thor and Frigga to the various guild members who were coming over to say hello.
They were both surprised to find that even though Loki was only friends with a small group of people most of the guild wanted to meet them. It turned out that everyone was curious to see what the family of "Fairy Tail's God" was like.
When his brother and mother looked at him curiously Loki just shrugged. "It was far better than many of the other things they tried calling me."
"How about cold hearted bastard?" Loki rolled his eyes with a grin at the cocky voice. A spiky blond man walked up, various guild members scrambling to get out of his way.
"Laxus, I just knew you'd show up if my brother did." Loki said dryly. "If you're going to challenge him – which we both know you are – take it out to the practice field. Between the two of you the guild would be leveled."
"Fine fine," Laxus waved him off casually. "Laxus Dreyar, the Master of the guild's my gramps. You can control lightning, right?" He didn't even bother containing his excitement at the idea and was grinning widely.
"Aye." Thor grinned slightly and set his hand on Mjolnir's handle. "And your… magic?" It was hard to think of everyone here as magic users, especially with the way he was used to viewing them, but he was slowly getting used to the idea.
"Lightning Dragonslaying Magic." Laxus's grin widened. "Practice field's out back." He motioned with a jerk of his head.
Thot turned to his mother briefly, gaining a smile, before following Laxus outside. Other people crowded after them excitedly wanting to see the fight. Loki snorted and rolled his eyes.
"I just knew Laxus was going to do that." He said, lips pressed together in fond exasperation. Frigga got the feeling Loki felt that a lot in regards to his guildmates. "Well, mother, while Thor is occupied how about we continue the introductions?"
Outside, Thor and Laxus went to separate sides of a dirt field.
"I'm not gonna go easy on you," Laxus warned, eager grin still in place.
"I would hope not!" Thor took his hammer off his belt and started whirling it around.
They both studied the other for a minute before rushing forwards, the crowd cheering them on.
A loud, painful sounding blow rang from outside. Frigga jerked.
"Was that..?" Her eyebrows were raised in surprise.
"It would appear so." Loki chuckled as they walked up to Master Makarov. "Hold on one moment," He cautioned his mother before walking up to have a word with him. "Makarov Dreyar," He hissed quietly in a deadly voice, eyes narrowed. The small man stiffened at the sudden killing intent coming from the Variant Mage. "If you so much as dare act your typical perverse self around my mother or brother I will personally make sure you know exactly why that "incident" regarding that dark guild ended so painfully for them."
Makarov was scared of very few things. The wrath of women was one, and the wrath of powerful women was another. The fact that Loki was only a woman part of the time did not matter. He was a shapeshifting, extremely powerful mage with little to no limits on what his magic could do and a cruel streak in regards to revenge a mile long. Makarov was not going to mess with that.
There was a reason many members of Fairy Tail were terrified of Loki and it was because of the few times he'd released his acid tongue and vicious talents on them. Just remembering those moments made Makarov shudder in terror.
"A-aye!" He said, sweatdropping when Loki immediately lost the deadly look.
"Mother, this is Makarov Dreyar, the Master of Fairy Tail!" He turned to Frigga with a cheerful smile.
Makarov barely managed to sputter out a greeting while Frigga was trying especially hard not to laugh.
"You are certainly a worthy opponent!" Thor laughed loudly, slightly out of breath.
"You're not so bad yourself." Laxus grinned. "Now let's make this even funner." His fists crackled with electricity.
Excited to do something more than hand to hand (and hammer), Thor raised Mjolnir to the skies and dark clouds immediately gathered.
Laxus just laughed.
There was the crack of lightning followed by a loud cry of surprise and confusion.
"I believe Thor just witnessed Laxus' ability to consume lightning to fuel his magic." Loki commented idly.
Frigga paused and blinked. "Is that… normal, for magic here?" She asked carefully.
"Not exactly," Levy admitted, having joined them at a table to talk. "But it is for Dragonslayers."
"Laxus called himself a Lightning Dragonslayer," Frigga remembered, smiling as she realized why Laxus seemed so eager to fight her son. "Thor has his work cut out for him doesn't he?" She chuckled.
Loki snickered. "Oooh yes, yes he does."
"That could be considered cheating!" Thor called out good naturedly as the Dragonslayer wiped his mouth.
"It's what Dragonslayers do!" Laxus laughed and grinned wildly. "Now…" He took a breath and Thor watched in amazement as he seemed to swell before yelling something and lightning bursting out of his mouth.
Thor barely dodged in time. He readied Mjolnir and grinned as he rolled out of his crouch. This was going to be fun.
There were several booms, bursts of guild members cheering, and a few screams when they got in the way and had to scramble out of range. Frigga didn't even comment on the ruckus.
"So that's why Gajeel's hearing is so enhanced?" She asked curiously. The magic that existed here was so fascinating.
"Yep! Same with all Dragonslayers." Levy smiled excitedly. "Their magic is pretty odd even by Fiore standards though, so I love learning about it."
"All ya gotta do is ask, Shrimp." Gajeel rolled his eyes from next to Loki.
"You never answer right!" Levy complained with a pout.
"What are you talking about?" Gajeel made a face.
"Your answers regarding your magic are rather confusing." Loki leaned into him casually.
"I'm just answering what you guys ask! What's so confusing about that?!" Gajeel demanded.
"The way you phrase it?" Loki suggested too late as Levy huffed and started to berate his boyfriend. Gajeel argued back and soon they were bickering loudly. Loki sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Honestly I think if I hadn't shown up those two might have ended up together."
Frigga stifled a giggle.
When Laxus and Thor didn't seem to be slowing down in their battle any time soon (though they had to hold back slightly so that they could focus on staying in the training field) Loki went ahead and continued showing his mother around Magnolia. Gajeel held back claiming interest in the fight, but Loki could tell the Dragonslayer wanted to give him some alone time with his mother. Gajeel might be reluctant to show it but he understood very well just how important family was.
A nice lunch and several magical trinkets from shops later Loki walked Frigga up to the door of his 'apartment'. She didn't even need to see the inside of it, sensing the magic from as far as a block away.
"Wouldn't it be of benefit to find a way to shield off the excess magic?" Frigga raised an eyebrow questioningly.
"I haven't thought of that." Loki admitted. "Hiding magic is hardly needed or common in Fiore, especially Magnolia. I've settled at a certain size for the inside and there's hardly need for much more space so the enlarging spell is at a stable point right now. It would be challenging finding a way to mask so much concentrated energy, but not impossible…" Loki hummed in thought but then shook his head. "I'll think about possible methods later. For now, would you like to come inside?" He grinned and Frigga rolled her eyes in amusement.
"I'd love to." She played along and offered her arm.
Loki smirked and grabbed it gently, opening the door and leading her inside. "Right this way, my Queen." Frigga didn't bother hiding a soft snort.
"I'll have none of that! It's either mother or teacher. Haven't we had this conversation many a time?" Frigga teased. She glanced around the living room as they entered, taking in her son's home.
"I believe we have and it always ends in me the fool." Loki smiled softly.
"Please, you? A fool? You seem to forget your own ability. I seem to recall you coming out the victor… once or twice."
Loki laughed and Frigga joined in with a chuckle.
"…I miss this." Loki sat down on the couch and shook his head. Frigga followed him. "I was such a fool-"
"Loki Turks Friggason if you dare finish that sentence I will be forced to remind you why I am first and foremost your mother." She glared almost playfully, but still serious enough to show she meant it.
Unable to stop the reflexive smile at his (relatively) new full name, Loki shook his head again. "You see? Me the fool." He was smirking with a raised eyebrow and Frigga couldn't stop the laughter from bubbling up.
"…I missed this too, Loki." She closed her eyes and smiled. "Now, tell me. Does Gajeel stay with you or does he live in his own place?"
Loki nearly groaned but laughed instead. Indeed, he missed this.
Okay so *hides behind pillow fort* I'm sorry I am not very good with fight scenes. I don't think there really is a way to describe a fight between Thor and Laxus, especially if they have to hold back slightly, so have fun with the little tidbits I gave you.
As for the "Incident Involving the Dark Guild" I'm just going to say that Loki is a shapeshifter and the actual details of the incident will not be elaborated on until A Splash of Green gets going. B) Speaking of, I'm getting antsy and wanting to just post it already! Anyone else thinking I should just post the first chapter of ASG before HIWtHH ends instead of waiting?
I hope you guys enjoyed~! Help me out with ideas over what's going to happen later!
