Sunlight and warmth. Those were the words that Sakura would use to describe that afternoon as she sat under a shaded tree and watched her husband play with their son and another yellow haired little boy.

"Sasaki is getting so big." Hinata gushed as she switched her sleeping toddler into her other arm before looking out and calling "Boruto, be careful with Sasaki he's smaller than you."

The little blond boy grinned sheepishly before holding out his still child-like hands to the boy "Sorry Sasaki," as he helped the other boy up.

At three years old Sasaki stood at Boruto's (who had just turned five) shoulder. He was tall and lean for his age and was generally very quiet when compared to Boruto's exuberance. He had bright pink hair, like Sakura, but it stuck up in wispy wild tufts that she could never brush or gel down.

"Yes he is," Sakura said with a proud smile before touching her growing belly "He's going to be a fantastic big brother."

"Boruto is." A voice came from behind the tree as Naruto joined them and planted a quick kiss on his wife's lips and a gentle one on the top of his daughter's head.

"Naruto." Kakashi greeted him. He left the two boys playing with their ball, confident that they would get along and joined Sakura and the rest of the group under the tree.

"How was the mission?" He asked, sitting behind Sakura and gently kneading her shoulders.

"Fine, a breeze actually-Kiba did most of the work." He grinned impishly before digging into the leftovers from the picnic that they'd brought with them.

Sakura stopped listening to the conversation after a while, content to lean back into Kakashi's chest and doze as the warm spring breeze ruffled her hair. This was the sort of… peace that she thought she'd never achieve when she was younger. She had always believed that she would have to keep rising, in her own knowledge, among the ranks of ninja-both combat and medical and in her own friends esteem. But she didn't feel that push so much anymore.

She was... happy.

"Sakura?" A gentle voice brought her out of her nap and she blearily opened her eyes. The sun was setting, washing the world in a warm orange color. Sasaki, at some point had curled up at her side and was sleeping peacefully.

"Was I asleep for long?" she mumbled, rubbing her eyes and sitting up, careful not to jostle her son too much.

"It was a good sleep, I didn't want to wake you but I wanted you to see this."

Sakura looked around confused for a moment and not seeing what it was that Kakashi wanted her to see.

Then, as the sun set over the hills taking the orange hue from the world and leaving a dusky purple in its wake, she saw it. Little lights blinking into existence one by one to flitter around the forest.

"Fireflies." she breathed.

They watched the lightning bugs for a while before standing and folding up the blanket they'd been sitting on. Then, Kakashi carrying a still sleeping Sasaki in his arms and Sakura with the blanket tucked over with one arm, they headed in the direction of home.

At some point Sakura slipped her hand into Kakashi's and he gave it a little squeeze.

"I love you Sakura." He said in the glowing darkness.

Sakura smiled and leaned into him "I love you too."

Years later their legacy and the magical story of Sakura's time travel lived on through their two children Sasaki and Hotaru.

It has been a long time coming, this epilogue. I've actually written this on three separate occasions and each time it just didn't feel... I don't know it didn't feel like a book end to this story which was a labor of love for my younger self. I wrote this almost three years ago when I was eighteen and my writing has come farther than before. It's so interesting to go back in my old stories and cringe at the way that I wrote but also to still be in love with the stories that I wrote. Anyways, excuse my babbling. I hope that you enjoyed this story and I hope to someday rewrite all of my stories so stay tuned!
