Hi guys! I have good news and bad news. So I advised you to not keep your hopes up until you have finished reading this author's note. Let's begin, shall we?
*clears throat*
I shall begin with the bad news. I decided to discontinue Fun dengan Malaysia…due to its slightly less popularity so I shall combine it with The ASEAN Way fanfic to make up for it since I cannot handle a lot as I will need to start working soon. Updates will be very slow too. I apologise to my fair readers who are expecting another chapter.
The good news, I have open Tumblr! I have considered it as another platform for me to publish my fanfics aside from Hetalia. Deviantart has been left in the dust so I am not sure whether I'll continue publishing there. I have also open an account on AO3 but I haven't got the grasp of publishing a work yet. Anyway, I shall leave the account name here in case.
This one chapter for The ASEAN Way will consists most of my unpublished works on FDM and The ASEAN Way so they're mostly incomplete so I will fix it a little so it will be complete...at least.
ASEAN Way – Unpublished works
① Bad ∞ End ∞ Night
A young maiden from a faraway village travels in the dark chilly night, holding nothing but a letter in her hand. She glances left and right for any signs of humans or houses that can take her in for the night because of the damn chill. How can the nights be this chilly anyway? Then, she spotted one. A mansion in the middle of nowhere. Sounds strange?
"Somehow this mansion in the middle of nowhere sounds so freaking suspicious." Isabella remarked sarcastically, somehow impressed with herself for being able to joke despite the shivering cold. "As much as this mansion looks like something from a Voc*loid music video but because I'm cold, tired and hungry, I just have to bear with it."
Walking up to the steps of the large mansion, surrounded by a large piece of grass land, Isabella knocked on the door to this suspicious mansion. "Is anyone home?" she asked loudly, hoping that someone kind enough will open the door for her and not shut her out.
As if answering to her prayers, the door opens, revealing a tan skinned man, not much taller than herself, wearing a formal tuxedo with a songkok on his head. His eyes widen slightly at the sight of the young maiden, shivering in the cold.
"Oh my, a visitor at this time?" the tuxedo man voiced his thoughts out loud, his surprise tone yet amused tone went unnoticed by Isabella.
"A guest?" asked a boy and a girl, who suddenly appear in front of the young maiden. Startled, she yelped and stumbled back a few steps as the girl giggled as if she finds her reaction pretty funny.
"Maya, don't be rude to our dear guest. You should welcome them." The tuxedo man chided with a sigh, weary in dealing with the girl's antics. Both the girl and the boy nodded as they stepped aside, arms stretched out from side to side while standing on opposing sides.
"I'm Maya-" the girl started cheerfully,
"And I'm Jonathan…" the boy continued.
"Welcome to our mansion…" the twins echoed a little too cheerfully yet it sound bit eerie at the same time.
Wait, mysterious? So there is something, the maiden thought to herself. Maybe she should just get a free meal and excuse herself out? Then, a young lady in a ponytail appears with a tray of tea and coffee. "Oh dear a guest Tajuddin? Do come in and have some tea!" the maid said, handing the young maiden a cup of tea, to which the maiden accepted it gratefully.
"Kirana, don't spill the tea." Tajuddin chided, earning a confident grin from the young maid.
The two children then pulled the maiden into the large mansion as the tuxedo man, wait, butler, closed the door behind them. The young maiden was guided to a large chair by the fireplace for a seat.
"Quite an unexpected meeting ana~. Don't you think so, Lien?" A spectacled man commented.
"Indeed, let's welcome her. It has been quite a long time since we had a guest." A tall woman wearing a green coloured ao dai said to her husband.

"So you were lost?" The Master of the House, Somsak, asked, taking a sip of his tea prepared by the young maid.
Isabella nodded. "Yes, I am on my way home after watching the Bulaga show live at a friend's but apparently I have lost my way. I just happened to come across your mansion and hoping if I can stay for the night."
"I see. You are welcome to stay here for as long as you like. Our life is quite mundane without a guest around. Having a guest around will liven things up." Somsak smiled kindly at Isabella.
"Here, here, have some wine!" Kirana poured some wine into the wine glass.
"After that, let's party!" Maya added excitedly.
"Let's have a grand party!" Jonathan echoed.
And so Isabella was dragged in to a large scale party with the members of the household, singing, dancing and drinking, she lost herself in the fun, forgetting her main reason of being in this large mansion in the first place.
After the party, she was escorted to a room where she can get plentiful of sleep. However, when she woke the next day is that things go haywire. It all started with the time. Isabella pulls out her smartphone to check the time but frowns at the sight of it.
"Weird, the time since I went for bed and the time now is…" Isabella trailed off doubtfully, pondering about the strange situation she is currently in.
"Hey" Isabella whipped her head to find the pair of twins from earlier smiling eerily at her, especially the female twin Maya. "Want us to-"
"Tell you a secret?" Jonathan finished, his eyes seemingly glowing in this dark room.
It was then Isabella felt fear crawling into her heart. The twins' smile grow wider as they point to the wall clock hanging on the wall on the side of the room. Isabella's eyes widen fearfully as she immediately jumped out of her bed. Her hand reaching for the nearest door knob, as she opens it, she gasps before being blinded by a bright white light. She vaguely hears a voice yelling something like, "Let's move onto the next scene!"
② Cleaning up
This is what Vietnam want-no, needs! A strong cup of coffee that'll keep a human awake for days. Watching the scene of the ASEAN nations getting into their usual routine of why they shouldn't be the ones who clean the old and dusty villa Indonesia just happened to own and left forgotten for years.
"Sorry ya, but since those guys wanted to use the other villa we have no choice but to use this." Indonesia apologised, her hands clasped together in an apologetic manner.
Malaysia raised her hand. "That I can understand. Just one thing though."
"Why the hell do we have to clean up your villa!?" Cambodia screeched, highlighting the dusts, cobwebs and many other messes that stain the old villa.
Singapore nodded in agreement. "Don't you have caretakers to do that for you?"
Indonesia glanced uneasily at the nearest yet somehow fancy dusty couch on her right. Without looking directly at their eyes, she tells, "They were laid off during the economic crisis years ago. Since this villa is not used, no one bothers to clean…until now."
"So can't you hire them again?" Myanmar questioned. "I mean, seriously, their salary from all of us combined is enough for them to take a vacation at the best vacation spots around the world!"
"I did try," Indonesia began hesitantly. "They left me a message with these two letters when I asked." Showing the letter containing the letters 'F' and 'U', everyone present find themselves unable to comment on those two letters. Talk about vulgar, they just went a bit extreme there in their protests.
Philippines raised her hand. "Why not try asking them one more time? This time, we shall add something additional to their message." She pulls out a pen from out of nowhere, which many would like to ask but somehow managed to refrain themselves from asking. Philippines wrote the number '2' after the letters 'F' and 'U'. The message implied does not require anyone professional to understand.
Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore turned to the Filipina with a look that pretty much say 'seriously?' Philippines simply gave the three a thumbs up and confidently said "Fight it back."
Vietnam sighed, massaging her temples. "You know, you could get us ban from here with that method. If that happens, we won't get an appearance anymore."
Colours drained from the faces of the other ASEAN nations. No more appearance? Now that the author is preparing for her final year in college, she might not update anymore! OMG that is not good news!
The shocked faces of each other would have earn them some laughs or teasing but considering that all of them weren't going to appear ever again. That was something none of them desire as much as they all want some spotlight on their own.
"Still, can we clean up this villa before this series end?" Indonesia interrupted. "Especially that." She pointed towards the toilet.
Silence overcame the ASEAN nations as they tried to process what Indonesia said earlier while staring at the toilets that was left unclean for who knows how long and the dirt, moss or whatever that came with it didn't make cleaning toilets any more appealing to them. If anything, they want to puke at it.
"Can skip ah?" Malaysia asked, her face turning green.
"Can I not do it?" Myanmar joined in, not wanting to think about cleaning the toilets.
"I don't want to do it!" Cambodia immediately skirted away.
"Me neither!" Philippines protested.
"Then where else can we use the toilet later?" Singapore asked, glancing at the owner of the villa.
"Can't we do it outside? There should be one outside." Philippines asked.
Indonesia shook her head. "Crazy! We're on the top of some mountain! We're many kilometres away from the nearest civilization! Ghosts and whatnots wander around here!"
Vietnam sighed. At this rate they are going, they are wasting more time and money. They are rushing for the next scene damn it! She doesn't have a lot of screen time lately. The anime hasn't put her up yet!
"Now, now, we can settle everything in the next scene shall we?" Thailand asked with a smile.
"LIKE HELL!" All at once, the ASEAN nations kicked him into the next scene though Thailand may have to bear with the bumps, bruises and the other painful areas because Thai-kun is up for the next scene, though it may seem a little unfair for the other ASEAN nations but because the author is lazy to write a new one so she's cramming in all of those works into this chapter.
③ Thai-kun and his wonderful neighbours
*Plays Totoro theme song*
"To to ro Totoro To to ro Totoro"
Thai-kun, formally known as Thailand. A country known for its beautiful islands, temples and history. He's everyone's friend in a way. Being neutral during the war in exchange that he gets his 'waifu' to live with him. Ah~, those were the days…
He remembers the good old days where he would stalk his 'waifu' and bothers her to be one with him…only to get a durian thrown in the face. His neighbour, most trusted friend/potential 'waifu', Vietnam would often sigh when he would come back with his head bleeding thanks to a certain thorny King of Fruits. That durian really lives up to its name as the King of Fruits in certain ways.
"Nước Thái Lan," Vietnam began, not knowing what to even comment on after seeing her neighbour came back with a bleeding head. How he managed to come back while still smiling as if nothing had happened…only the heavens will know. "How long are you going to keep up with this 'waifu' be one with me' act? I cannot guarantee the next time if you're able to get out safely with just a durian only." A concern neighbour indeed. The truth is, she just couldn't be bothered patching up durian wounds anymore.
The Thai's smile remained unchanged. "Don't worry Weīydnām, you don't have to bother yourself over this. I can ask the palace servants to do so."
On second thought, maybe it'll be best for the servants to not witness something so horrid. She did not want their innocent eyes scarred after seeing him walking into the palace with a durian on his head. Nope, that'll mean too much trouble and Singapore will be nagging again if it requires another ASEAN meeting.
"I don't know whether to hit or kill you but since both are too troublesome…I'll patch you up instead." She offered, because her oar will taint the waters and she doesn't want the blood to taint the waters, the waters are to remain pure. She needs her oar to get around by row boat.

Tonari no To to ro Totoro To to ro Totoro
Thai-kun is no stranger to anime events held at his waifu's place or at Singapore's or at Indonesia's or other places. In fact, being a nation, he has the perks of being an active participant in those events, after all, cosplaying is fun when people got excited seeing you cosplay as another character.
"Kyaaa! It's *beep* from *beep*!"
"Kyaa! You're right! Let's have a selfie with him!"
The squeals coming from the girls as they crowded around him for selfie, ah, it does remind him of the feat he pulled in ensuring Vietnam's victory in that costume contest. It's a win for ASEAN too despite the absence of his fellow neighbours.
"Singapura, it's hunting time!"
"WHAAATTT!? My muscles are already hurting like hell! At least help me carry some of these!"
"OHHH, I SEE YOI MERCH! KYAAA, DATE MASAMUNE!"
"OOII! DON'T LEAVE ME WITH THESE BAGS!"
It was already too late as his 'waifu' is running towards a Date Masamune's cosplayer at top speed, possibly putting those fans to shame…well, she is a nation after all…so speed won't be much of a problem for a nation who is over 60 years old. The Singaporean sighed, once again, regretting on why he has to accompany his sister to an anime event.
Thai-kun shifted his gaze to the cosplayer of Date Masamune, there are some girls already taking pictures. Speaking of Date Masamune, Thai-kun had wanted to cosplay that tanned guy from a game of good-looking sword boys that got Vietnam and Indonesia crazy about but…to maintain that scowl is hard…
"Don't underestimate the fandom!" both Indonesia and Vietnam would always say, especially Vietnam with majority of her people does translating jobs of various fandoms, from Japanese anime to Chinese novels. Sometimes, Thailand doesn't understand what got them hyped but it doesn't matter as long as he can see them smile.
Like this one time for instance with Taiwan, the girl with a wavy strand of hair excitedly told the Vietnamese about a Chinese novel that's going to be animated soon and the author's latest work. Their eyes sparkling like diamonds when they discussed about 'pairings'.
"Do you know that Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation is going to have its own animation soon!?" Taiwan brought it up that one day when she came over for a visit.
Vietnam's expression, from neutral would take a 180 degree shift. "Yes! I am already clearing out plans to make way for its first episode! After all, those two are just!"
"I know! I know! Kyaa! Even in the author's latest work, Heaven's Official Blessings, the main couple are just too good to NOT RESIST SHIPPING THEM!"
China glanced at the two, animatedly discussing about pairings and so on. Probably 'BL', China assumed and for the sake of his sanity, it will do him good to stay away from that topic…and perhaps the conversation itself. "Those two…"
China looks back at Thailand who is happily playing with Toto nearby, wondering how he gets used to being around them or even keeping a straight face when a certain topic was mentioned. "How are you even used to it? Don't they mentioned a lot of these?"
Thai-kun nodded. "Yes but I feel that this fandom has its own uniqueness just like the kathoey. We should just respect it instead of questioning its existence. That way, everyone will be happy." It should be like this. After all, he gets to see them at their happiest when they are doing the things they like so why not.
Having hearing Thai-kun said that, both ladies immediately paused in their conversation to give their major support to his statement, adding, "I wish he could be more open-minded like you."
Meanwhile, in a merlion country, Singapore sneezes. He rubbed his nose, wondering whether someone has been talking about him. His mind only has a certain nation living next to him as he gripped his pen tightly in his hand.
"Bless you sir!" The secretary said cheerfully.
Tonari no To to ro Totoro To to ro Totoro
Cambodia loves his temples and has a long history with Thailand over them. The two nations, formerly kingdoms have often clashed because of various reasons with the temples being one of them. This time, in 2018, both nations have decided on how to settle the score once and for all.
With the ASEAN nations and Tokyo (he was just passing by for a vacation) as the judges and witnesses, the two nations stood face to face. A grin sported on their faces as they readied themselves. The audience waited in agony and worry, wondering who will win this once and for all.
"I can't watch!" Laos covered her eyes as Vietnam gave a comforting pat on the back.
"Whoever win this...gets to decide everything." Singapore trailed off. "The fate of the ASEAN lies in their hands alone. To think it has come to this day."
Indonesia looked around worriedly. "Will this really be okay?"
"It'll be fine." Myanmar assured. "Ordinary people think we're just acting for a movie or something. As long as it doesn't affect their lives or anything, no one will bother."
Malaysia gave Myanmar a look. "You sure sound confident about this."
"Look, it's starting!" Timor Leste pointed out.
Philippines entered into the scene, carrying a cassette player with one hand and a microphone with the other. The other ASEAN nations blinked in surprise as they whisper among each other of the island nation's true intentions.
Seeing her siblings/neighbours giving her doubtful looks, Philippines cleared her throat to gain the others' attention. Immediately, the chattering among them ceased as they shifted their attention to Philippines.
"Today is an important day for us, the ASEAN. A very important day that we cannot simply ignore and postponed. I hereby invite the rest of the ASEAN to witness this event that will make a mark in the glorious history of the ASEAN and also our appearances in the ASEAN Way." Philippines announced facing the audience.
Horrified gasps escaped the audience as they once again began murmuring among themselves. After a minute or two, Timor Leste voices out her curiosity to the young Filipina. "What are you going to do? If this concerns the rest of us, why did you have Tokyo as a witness?"
The said capital can only stared at his own two feet. He was just passing by yet he was being treated like some strange man with third party authority. Witness? Better have a nation like his brother as witness not him, a mere capital of Japan.
"Of course, normally we would seek a nation's witness but as of now, Tokyo will do." Philippines clarified. "Because…this battle involves…" She glanced uneasily at the two nations.
"What is it?" Singapore couldn't help but ask.
"Totoro." Philippines answered. "I am not sure what goes on in their mind but apparently the decisive battle will be decided with Totoro. A Totoro dance. Tokyo should be more familiar with this than any of us thus we seek your wisdom in this."
Tokyo's eyes instantly lit up. "Oh! Show me! Show me!"
"Let them wear Totoro outfit first!" Indonesia quipped in.
"To think the fate of us is decided by this…" Singapore muttered to himself, placing a hand on his head to stop the world from spinning before him. But with all of the chaos going on, it is no surprise that he really needs a break.
"But how do we decide? What if both of them can dance exactly like in the movie?" Malaysia wondered.
Myanmar shrugged. "Postponed to the next chapter."
"So we end this chapter like this?" Laos asked unsurely.
"The author wants to end it just in time for Christmas." Vietnam answered.
-THE END?-
A/N: Million apologies but I am typing this minutes before Christmas and I will be away for quite a while so once again see you!
