I hope you enjoy the first chapter in Stolen Treasure. If you have any question I will answer as soon as I can. Please leave a review.
Perspectives: Kabuto and Snow.
Snow's Perspective
I groaned as my eyes slowly opened. My vision was a blur. My surroundings seemed to be swaying gently back and forth. The smell of saltwater hung heavily in the air. When I tried to gain my footing I discovered I was tightly bound. I called upon my chakra but there was nothing to call upon.
"Don't bother",
OROCHIMARU! I struggled violently against my bindings. My angered words were muffled by a gag. He put his foot on my chest, pinning me to the ground.
"Why struggled? Isn't it obvious you've lost", he said.
Glaring at him was all I could muster. He gave a soft laugh.
"I'm you sure whatever you may be trying to say isn't worth saying. So I'll leave you voiceless. But I do encourage such a glare. It's rather amusing", said Orochimaru.
He moved his foot from my chest. I managed to roll onto my side, at least now I won't have to see him.
"You should consider this an honor that I've chosen you to be a part of my plans", he said.
I didn't want any part of his plans. I have my own that don't involve him. From his pocket, he took a vial and syringe.
"This should keep you tame for the rest of journey", he said before jabbing the needle into my neck.
Everything faded into darkness.
Kabuto's Perspective
The heavy doors of the lab creaked opened as Lord Orochimaru strode in. He's earlier than I expected. Slung his shoulder was a young unconscious woman. I estimated her age in the late teens or early twenties, height 5'1, weight 115 pounds. A curtain of long white hair hid her face from view. The girl's only movement was the rise and fall of her chest as she breathed. She was drugged with a tranquilizer and chakra suppressants. Orochimaru carefully lay the girl in a cell in the lab. From the one motion, I knew she was of great value to him. Her pale skin stood out in the darkness and gloom of her surroundings. What does he have planned for her? I approached.
"Who is she?" I asked.
"A powerful pet", said Orochimaru.
"May I examine her", I said.
He nodded. I kneeled down next to the girl. I brushed her hair away from her face. My breath caught in my throat. She's stunning. A pair of glistening midnight blue eyes met my gaze. They held a deep animalistic rage. It was aimed at Orochimaru. Most would never dare to glare at him in such a way. She's either foolish or brave.
"I'M NOT YOUR PET!" she yelled.
"You're mine", said Orochimaru.
"NEVER!" she spat.
The floor shook. Diamond blades erupted from the floor speeding toward Lord Orochimaru. He easily dodged the attack.
"Too slow", he said.
She gave a quiet laugh. My eyes widen when I saw the blood dripping from his cheek. She landed an attack on him in such a weakened state.
"Orochimaru",
He touched his hand to his cheek and glared when he saw the blood on his fingertips.
"Already misbehaving. I'll have to change that", said Orochimaru.
He placed a circular machine on her chest wires came out it and sunk into her flesh.
"You shouldn't attack your Master. I thought your previous master taught you that", said Orochimaru.
"I'M NOT YOURS!" she yelled.
"What is that device?" I asked.
"It absorbs a person's chakra and will train her quickly", said Orochimaru.
"I'm not yours!" growled the girl again.
When she tried attacking again a current of electricity coursed violent through her small frame, causing her to convulse. She didn't voice her pain but quietly struggled through it.
"I thought your target was the Uchiha", I said.
Orochimaru scowled.
"He proved to be too great an opponents. But she's extremely valuable none the less", he said.
"What makes her such a prize?" I asked.
"She possesses many abilities that are of use to me. One of them being skin that takes on the strength of diamond", said Orochimaru.
"What an interesting creature", I said before the girl passed out.
Taking a look at her DNA will fascinating.
"What do you wish me to do with her?" I asked.
"Watch over her, gain her trust. Someone like her needs a friend to depend on", said Orochimaru.
"Understood",
Snow's Perspective
My eyes opened. I lay on the cool stone floor. It seemed to be a prison cell. In the background, waves crashing against the shore and seagulls squawking. The smell of salt water drifted through the small barred window it mixed with the chemical stench of bleach. It was difficult to breathe. There was a metal contraption on my chest. Four thick wire led from the machine and into my skin. Even a gentle tug hurt. I want it off. Removing it won't kill me, but it will hurt like hell. I took a breath.
"Don't", warned a voice outside my cell.
One of Orochimaru's lackeys. He can be ignored. I grabbed the center of the device and tried to rip it from my chest. A high voltage shock traveled through me.
"I warned you", he said.
My muscles twitched from the recent shock. The man came into the light. He seemed to be close to my age. The stranger was dressed in black. He silver-gray hair tied into a low ponytail and wore a pair of large circular glasses. His appearance reminded me slightly of Toshi. This man far more dangerous and isn't to be trusted.
"Welcome to the island", he said.
Island! The made the possibility of escape a great deal more difficult. There could be countless miles from the mainland. He ripped the chakra seal from the door. He entered. The door! Even if I don't get far I'll have better knowledge of my surroundings. As my as I wished to follow through with my instinct to run I found it impossible to move in my current state. He smirked and intentionally left the door open. Bastard!
"I'm surprised you're awake. I thought you wouldn't be conscious for days", he said.
I managed to sit but quickly fell to the floor again. This is pathetic!
"Don't push yourself Miss", he said.
I glared at him. I don't need him telling me what to do. But what choice do I have but to listen? I must wait until my strength returns. As he came closer, I dragged myself away. I may have some left. He shook his head seemingly disappointed.
"Trying to move in your current condition will only make things worse", he said.
The thing disturbed me most was his voice. He actually sounded like he cared.
"How can I be sure remaining in your company won't bring me harm?" I asked.
"Such distrust and you don't even know me", said the man.
"I know all I need too. You work for Orochimaru so that makes you scum", I said.
"I can't blame you for holding such opinions of me given your situation. I've been charged with your recovery harming you would go against that task", he said.
His voice was calm despite my hostile attitude. I swatted away his hand when he reached to touch me. He sighed and forced me to sit up. I despised the unwanted closeness. He pressed a glass of water against my lips, but I refused to drink.
"Drink, you are dehydrated", said the man.
My thirst drove me to cool water was wonderful against my dry throat.
"That wasn't so difficult was it?" he said as he wiped my mouth.
I shoved him away. He kept his balance, but he got the message back off.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"I was wondering when you were going to ask. I'm Kabuto Yakushi a medical ninja in service to Lord Orochimaru. And what's your name?" he asked.
"Snow", I said.
"Why is he so interested in you?" asked Kabuto.
His kindness set me on edge. What is he playing at? He probably won't leave until I answer his question.
"He has no interest in me personally only my abilities", I said.
"Which are?" asked Kabuto.
"Hasn't he already told you?" I asked.
"Yes, but I want to hear it from you", said Kabuto.
"Immortality, a curse set on my bloodline", I said.
"Not a curse a gift", he said.
"Many see it that way, but I don't", I said.
He doesn't understand, so few do.
"Why are you being kind to me?" I asked.
"A medical ninja I took an oath not to harm", said Kabuto.
I laughed.
"If that were true you wouldn't be here", I said.
He sighed.
"For your sake, I suggest you give up and accept your new life here", said Kabuto.
"This isn't new. Only a return to one I thought I escaped", I said.
"You should be honored that Lord Orochimaru chose you", said Kabuto.
"He isn't a lord, so stop calling him that. He's the bastard who kidnapped me from my family", I said.
"Is that any way to speak of your master", said Orochimaru as made his presence known.
I glared at him.
"You'll accept your new life as my pet. Death isn't an option of escape to you", said Orochimaru.
I wouldn't have taken if it were. I have too much to get back to.
"I have a name and it isn't, girl. I'm Snow", I growled.
"Your name will be whatever I wish it. From now on you'll address me as master", said Orochimaru.
"Never!" I growled.
He lifted my chin, so I was forced to look into his golden green eyes.
"Say it", he ordered.
I spat in his face. He wiped his face.
"You'll regret that", said Orochimaru.
"I won't", I said.
"You're stubborn, but not unbreakable", he said.
In his hand was a bullwhip. I shudder went down my back. No, I've faced worse I won't let this get to me.
"I can see the fear you so desperately try to hide. Caused only by such only by seeing an object", said Orochimaru.
I won't let him break me, not like this! Not again. I'm not that person anymore. I didn't fight as my wrists were locked in the shackles that hung from the ceiling.
"Leave Kabuto", said Orochimaru.
He left without a word, not even sparing a glance back at me. That cold reaction gave me all the more reason not to trust him. The whip sliced through the air, cracking against my back. I lost count lashes. I bit my lip. I won't scream. A puddle of blood soon formed at my feet. Blood was all I could smell. My mind went blank as a way of escape.
"Your tolerance for pain is commendable. Kakuzu taught you well", said Orochimaru.
Hearing his name hurt. It reminded me I wasn't with him. I was here.
"He didn't teach me that. I was self-taught", I said.
I smiled through the pain.
"Your tolerance for emotional lacks the same strength", said Orochimaru.
I looked up at him. What does he have? I'm separated from all that I love. He can't hurt them. In his hand was my locket. He walked to the window and held it just outside the bars. If he drops it I'll never see it again.
"This means the world to you", said Orochimaru.
My gaze was focused on the locket.
"You'll never see him again and this all you have left of him", said Orochimaru.
Sapphires fell from my eyes. During the abuse, a tear had never fallen, but they came rushing down. I lurched against my restraints.
"Now you cry", said Orochimaru.
He was about to drop my necklace out the window when I yelled, "please don't Master!"
He smiled.
"Very good", said Orochimaru.
The word left a foul taste in my mouth.
"I'll keep this", said Orochimaru.
He moved behind me, unlocking my shackles. I fell into the puddle blood that had formed underneath me.
"Say it", he commanded.
"Master",
"Good girl", said Orochimaru before he patted my head.
He took something from his pocket. He put something around my neck, a collar. Humiliation swept over me. This was a new low for me.
"You are mine", said Orochimaru.
"Yes Master", I said.
"This is a chakra seal that only I can unlock. My gift will keep those powers of yours under control. I wouldn't want you doing anything foolish", said Orochimaru.
He hadn't taken my ring. I prayed he didn't notice. It's the only thing I have left.
"I almost forgot this", said Orochimaru as he slid off my ring.
My hand felt bare without it.
"Kakuzu, put this on the same finger where someone would put a wedding ring or is it only a coincidence", said Orochimaru.
I glared at him. He smirked.
"There's no such thing as a happy ending for someone like you", said Orochimaru.
"I don't believe that", I said.
"Not yet", he said.
Kabuto entered. His expression was emotionless. There was pity in his gaze, but no regret. I've seen that look many times before. My previous master's servants all stared at me that same way but did anything to help me.
"Don't look at me like that!" I growled.
"Like what?" asked Kabuto.
"Pity, I hate it. You're the pitiful one for willingly serving a monster like him", I said.
"I made my choice long ago and I don't regret it", said Kabuto.
His voice was calm. Orochimaru seemed amused at me and his servant's bickering. I tensed as he approached. He removed the machine from my chest. The collar was enough to keep me under control.
"Kabuto, I'll give you the honor of naming my pet", said Orochimaru.
I grew lightheaded. I'd lost too much blood.
Kabuto's Perspective
Orochimaru placed a locket in my hand.
"What's this?" I asked.
"It will help you control her if she gets out of hand. Use it if needed", he said.
The clinking of chains caught my attention. How is she conscious? If she weren't immortal it wouldn't be possible for her to survive such blood loss. She glared at me from her place on the bloodstained ground. Gaining her trust may be more difficult than I first thought. I slowly neared her, so not to spook her.
"Get away from me", she said.
"I won't hurt you", I said.
Her condition left her in no condition to escape me.
"I will lift you now", I warned.
She bit her lip as I moved her ground, blood dripped down her chin. The girl was drenched in blood. I brought her to the cell I prepared for her earlier. I lay on her stomach. Those intense midnight blue eyes watched my every movement. I gathered the supplies I needed. I placed them near the cot. When touched her back she grew rigid.
"You must relax or otherwise this will hurt more than necessary", I said.
She didn't heed my warning. Her jaw locked as cleaned her wound. I didn't want to risk entrapping an infection by healing her with only my chakra. When I was satisfied her wounds were clean I healed them with my chakra. I washed away the remaining blood. Her skin was marred with long scars. Orochimaru wasn't the first to do this.
"I apologize for staring", I said.
"It's nothing I'm not used to", she said.
I took the locket from my pocket. The girl's eyes focused on it. I opened it. Within it was three photos. One of a was a large black horse, another was a man covered in ash, and the last one was of her cuddling closely to a man with long hair. Whoever that man is he's lucky to have this girl's, heart. If her heart is as pure as I think it is I can easily control her. I returned it to my pocket.
"You know pain well", I said.
She nodded. Her exhaustion didn't leave her in much of a mood for speaking.
"I'm assuming you were a slave at one point in your life", I said.
Again she nodded.
"You're his servant", she said.
"I guess you can say that", I said.
"It isn't a guess you serve him, so you are his servant", said the girl.
"What is your real name?" I asked.
"Through the course of my life I've gone by several names, but Snow is the truest name I've ever had", said the girl.
"Tell me what you want your new name to be", I said.
"I don't want a new name", said the girl
I sighed.
"I'm giving you a choice. You won't have many of those", I said.
"Hope", said the girl.
"Why?" I asked.
"Does it matter?" she asked.
"Yes", I said.
"It will remind me to stay hopeful when everything around me seems hopeless. So can I have the name?" asked the girl.
"That's what you will be called from now on", I said.
She looked so hurt. I wonder how much comfort this locket will give her.
"I have something that may make you smile", I said.
Snow's Perspective
I resisted the urge the roll my eyes. There's nothing that could make this situation better with the exception of freedom. No, Orochimaru would keep me tightly in his grasp until he was assured he had me tamed.
"You have none such thing", I said.
"Are you sure?" he asked as he dangled my locket in front of me.
When I went to snatch he swiftly pulled it from my grasp.
"Don't be rude", he said.
My eyes tingled with the upcoming burn of tears. I needed it. I needed to see the image of the man who held my heart. I needed this strength in this time of weakness.
"Please", I begged.
He handed me. I flipped open the locket. The sight of Kakuzu relaxed. I can through this hell if it means I can be with him again. Kabuto ran his fingers through my hair. I allowed it if meant I could keep it just a few minutes longer. I'm not sure much time went by but he took it from my hands. I nearly cried, but I didn't put up the fight.
"Thank you", I said.
He nodded and tucked the locket into his front pocket.
"Take care of it", I said.
"I will", he said.
He rose from his place at my bed.
"Is there anything I can do for you before I take my leave?" asked Kabuto.
"Yes, I need clothes", I said.
"That can be arranged", said Kabuto.
With that he left, shutting the door to my cell behind him. Sleep overtook me. A few hours later I woke. The pain in my back had faded. This was only a temporary change. It would only be a matter of time before I did something to anger him. The man too much enjoyed punishing me to allow me to forget it.
I forced myself to my feet, only to crash to the floor. This is pathetic. I can't even walk. I crawled to the wall and got to my feet yet again. I used the wall for support until I reached the bathroom. I was winded by the time I got there. It was small but it was all I needed. I braced myself against the sink. The reflection that greeted me wasn't pretty.
My hair was matted and stained with blood. My eyes were crusted, blood splotched my skin. I shrugged off the rags left of my t-shirt. The collar was painfully pinching my skin. I would have to adjust to it.
"Is that really what I am now a pet", I whispered.
I'm not sure which is worse a slave or pet. My new built sense of self-pride hated both positions with a passion. I turned on the water. It was surprisingly warm. I closed my eyes and let water rain down on me. A soft clink of metal against metal made me open my eyes. Around my neck was Hidan's Jashin necklace. When did he give me this? More importantly why? The water turned cold far too quickly. Now alone I couldn't stop myself from crying. My tears softly fell to the tiled floor. I grabbed the scratchy from the wall and wrapped it around me. I gathered my tears. I won't help Orochimaru further by funding this hellish organization. I tossed them from the window.
When I came out of the bathroom neatly folded clothes were placed at the end of my bed. I swiftly changed not caring if someone set eyes on me. No one would dare touch me knowing I belonged to Orochimaru. I played with the Jashin necklace.
