A/N: So, I really can't wait to see Quicksilver's character in Age of Ultron (don't get me wrong- I loved Evan Peter's version in Days Of Future Past. But... Peter. His name is not Peter. It is Pietro). I guess that's why I wrote an angsty Quicksilver drabble? Keep in mind, however, that all the comic-knowledge I have on the Maximoff twins (Pietro in particular. Ily Quicksilver.) is pretty much invalid in the MCU because of the IP rights. So, really, this is just me making an inference from the plausible comics history they could use, and the end-credits scene in The Winter Soldier. With that being said, though, I'm not writing how I think AoU is gonna go. This was more of an introspective drabble than anything with plot or substance. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own Marvel.

Run
A Lily By Any Other Name.

He had spent his whole life running.

Never in his life had he taken a break. The rhythmic sound of footsteps thudding against the ground was his lullaby; the rough caress of the wind was the only touch he could remember. He followed no path or map. He ran where his feet carried him, and only stopped when he was sure no one could catch up to him. The rest of humanity probably wondered why he was so flighty, but he didn't care. They just didn't get it. He couldn't stop. He could not stop for to catch his breath when the world was out to get him, and when his sister needed him. Unlike him, she could not run the problems away. It was ironic: the only person in the world who could keep up with him could not physically keep up with him. The only time he ever stopped was at her request. He stopped when she commanded to be put down or when she expressed her concern about him. Otherwise, he would run across the world and the seven seas to keep her safe and himself distracted.

He had spent his whole life running.

And now, trapped in this cell, he had slowed to a stop.
