Illiana hung back whilst Steve told all of the men the battle plan. Bucky glanced over at her from his place beside the Captain and winked towards her causing a blush to burn at her cheeks as she had to bite her inner bottom lip to stop from giggling.

"Alright we'll decide more when we get up there" Steve said. "Right now everyone grab what they need and load it onto the plane, we leave in ten"

Each of the Howling Commandos quickly ran off to grab their stuff as Steve and Bucky turned and made their way over to where Iliana was standing.

"How long will this one take?" Illiana asked as Steve began to pack his suit full of ammunition.

"Not sure, we could be back tomorrow, could take a few days." Steve shrugged.

"We'll radio in when we can and let you know" Bucky smiled seeing Illiana growing agitated.

"Can you tell me what it is?" She asked glancing between them.

Steve let out a long, almost irritated sounding sigh. "Same as last time, it's classified"

"Steve!" Bucky snapped.

"No it's fine" Illiana said shaking her head. "I know I shouldn't ask. I just wish I could help" she shrugged.

Steve used his hand to cup her chin and make her look up at him.

"You do help" Steve smiled. "You give the two of us a reason to come home" before he kissed her forehead gently.

She was so thankful to have a big brother like figure like Steve. She knew with him around she'd always be safe.

"You two take care of each other, you hear me?" She asked looking up at both of them. Both Bucky and Steve shared a look and a smirk before they turned back to her and nodded. "Both of you be safe and don't do anything stupid"

"The wedding call it off now!" Steve said in between fake coughs as he glanced at Bucky which earned him a punch in the shoulder from an irritated Illiana.

"Boys this is serious!" She snapped glaring at both of them. They both sobered as they suddenly heard the break in her voice and saw fear in her eyes mixed with forming tears.

"Hey, hey, what's this for?" Steve asked embracing her almost immediately. "It's just a mission, they happen all the time"

"She saw the video's of our missions. They all did" Bucky admitted.

"I did not know that" Steve spoke out before he looked down at Illiana who's heartbroken look almost killed him. "We'll be fine sweetheart, and after this we get back, we'll get dressed all fancy and go to the cinema down the road"

"You can finally grow a pair and ask Peggy" Bucky smirked. "You alright little darlin'?".

"Yeah, I'm fine...I don't know what came over me I'm sorry" Illiana said wiping her eyes with her hand as she stayed tucked under Steve's arm.

"You're worried about little old me, that's what" Steve grinned. "We look out for each other in this messed up trio"

"Come here little darlin'" Bucky grinned holding his arms open for her embrace.

With a smile she instantly left Steves side and into Bucky's arms.

Steve glanced at the far wall as the two shared a kiss.

"Be careful...both of you" She said looking between them.

"Aren't we always" Bucky grinned clicking his gun into place.

"Yeah if always means never" Illiana grinned back.

"Let's go boys!" Dugan called out as he threw his bag into the plane.

"Come here you" She grinned to Steve before she pulled him into a tight hug.

"See you when we get back" Steve smiled as he pulled back from the hug and kissed her cheek gently.

"We'll go away together for the weekend, somewhere nice when I get back, if the captain allows me time off" Bucky grinned shooting a side glance at Steve who sighed before he turned and made his way to where the fellow howling commando's were putting their stuff onto the plane.

Bucky took Illiana's left hand in his and brought the ring upon her finger up to his lips giving it a gentle kiss.

"I promise I'll come back for you" Bucky smiled.

"I don't doubt you will sergeant" She grinned.

"Barnes, you ready?" Dugan called over as they began to load into the plane Stark had ordered.

"Yeah I'm coming" Bucky shouted back over his shoulder.

"Forever and always?" Bucky grinned

"Always and forever" Illiana echoed back before she kissed him passionately. "I love you"

"I love you too...dress in something nice for us getting back, you heard Steve we're going to the cinema" Bucky grinned as he began to make his way over to the airplane.

"Don't worry sweetheart, I'll make sure he behaves himself" Dugan grinned gripping Bucky by the back of the jacket and hauling him into the airplane.

"I'll never doubt you Dugan" Illiana laughed back watching as Bucky took his seat on the plane, right next to the window that stared out towards her.

She felt her heart clench as Dugan shut the door upon the plane. She looked over to where Bucky has the back of his head towards her but by the way it was thrown back she could tell he was laughing at something before he turned back to face her and confirmed her suspicions as there was a large smile upon his face as he waved out the plane window to her making her chuckle as she waved back.

She let out an exhale as the plane began to take off.

The moment the wheels were off the ground she put her necklace to her lips and kissed it gently, praying for both her boys to make it home safe.

Now unfortunately if you know the Captain America movies then you know what comes next, all I'm asking is please don't hate me too much
