Yuudachi no ribbon Part 3

**two days later**

Lars and Mathew spent their evening at the park talking about nonsense stuff, books they both liked, movies they'd seen. Things like that. After all, they were still getting to know each other.

And, while Mathew was the type to fling himself headlong into a friendship, he did still need something to work with so that the other person never felt awkward around him. He may not have his brother Alfred's passion, but he was more perceptive of a situation and could remember details about the people he met like no other.

But gathering that kind of knowledge to make the other person feel special, like how he felt everyone should feel special, did take time. Hours had passed and the sky was going dark, drawing shadows towards itself and letting everyone who saw it know that it had changed its name to evening. Then something plopped onto Mathew's face, splattering across his glasses, and he blinked against the little splashes that had leaped over the barrier and gone close to his eyes.

"W-what?"

The next droplet to fall onto his face sent him into a laughing fit.

"Oh God, Lars!" He called out as he slowed his swing down, scraping his feet against the sand pit's smoothed out ground beneath the swing in an effort to get off quickly. "It's raining again!"

Lars looked up at the sky too and had a raindrop fall on his cheek.

He grinned.

"So it is. Um, would you like to go to my house to wait it out?"

Mathew looked at him incredulously. Why would he seem so nervous about that question? It wasn't like he hadn't been to his house before.

"Wherever's fine! We just need to hurry before it starts pouring."

"Yeah, that's true. Let's go!"

And laughing, they both ran out of the park, scooping up their backpacks as they passed them by and dashed over the bridge leading into the park to get to their bikes.

'Why does it always rain whenever we are together?' Mathew thought randomly before he followed Lars in swinging onto his bike and pedaling back up the hill towards his friend's house. And to the waiting comforting couch and its blankets and snacks and their picked out movies to watch.

I always feel like Mathew would be the type of person who cares full-heartedly about every person he meets, rarely dislikes a person, but who also has a great amount of self-doubt, poor guy. He just seems like the type to approach every situation with a smile and encourage everyone else on while feeling like he'll do the worst, never begrudge others their skill, and completely ignore how good he might be at any task and always think it was other people helping him that let him succeed.

Yes, short chapter to transition.

Anywayyysssssss, HUGS and WUVS you guys.

Have a great day, and please please please review! I always love it. ^u^
