Hey everyone! Hows it going? Good? Good. And can I just say...AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH!
I honest to goodness am so sorry. I was honestly gonna update, I promise, but I told myself I could only do it after I posted this one shot I've been working on. I just finished it today. I honestly didn't think it would take so long.
But, it's been published, I'm done with that, I've got this to do and I just can't believe it because this is the last chapter. Yeah. I'm serious. This story, I know, is super short and super stupid but It's done. And I would just like to say thank you to everyone who Favorited, Fallowed and Reviewed. I love you guys.
And special thanks to

Percy couldn't help but wonder if girlfriends had built in trouble detectors. He wouldn't know, 'cause he obviously wasn't a girl, but still. It would explain why Annabeth was running at him. He took a deep breath, shoved his hands in his pockets, and smiled. Basically, he was trying to act like nothing unnatural was going on and he wasn't trying to run off.
"Hey." He said casually as she drew up next to him. She slowed down and gulped in a single lungful of air before tossing her golden hair over her shoulder and smiling at him.
"Hey," She said as she wrapped her arm around his. "I've been looking for you." He looked at her curiously.
"I was at my cabin. I fell asleep. Sorry about leaving the meeting, I just needed to think over some things." Annabeth nodded in understanding as they slowly made their way around camp. He was itching to be off, but he didn't want Annabeth to ask why, or come with him. He knew it was stupid, but he didn't want her to get hurt which was a really idiotic thought since she could easily beat him up.
They walked in comfortable silence for a while and ended up stopping near the volleyball court to watch a game between the Tyke cabin and Aphrodite cabin. There wasn't that much playing of the actual game, but it was cool to watch the Aphrodite girls running around screaming. It was then, as he watched them running around wailing about possibly breaking a nail, he got a sudden vision.
It wasn't really a vision, it was more like instead of seeing the Aphrodite kids, he was seeing the whole camp. And they were running because the world was ending and the the world had been unbalanced. He shook his head quickly. He was getting too stressed about this. He needed to calm down. That wasn't going to happen and he needed to get his imagination under control.
"Hey, you okay?" Annabeth looked at him worriedly and he cursed himself when he realized he had a scared look on his face. He quickly smiled at her and he hoped it looked sincere as he nodded.
"Definitely." He laughed. He didn't want her to be worried about him, especially after that fiasco with the nightmare. He didn't want her to be scared for him again, ever. He felt a sudden pang of guilt, as he thought about how he'd planned on going to Central Park without telling anyone to possibly do something stupid and dangerous on his own, but he quickly chased it away.
He needed to protect his camp and his friends, and that was how he would do it. He needed an escape. His mind whirred. He wasn't good at coming up with plans, he wasn't a son of Athena, but he did have good ideas once in a while.
"Hey Wisegirl?" He said tentatively."I actually promised I'd met the Avengers for a talk, and I kinda have to go..." He trailed off and silently prayed to whatever god was the god of lies, that she would believe him.
"Really?" She sounded skeptic as he nodded and tried to look sincere. She sighed. "Alright. Are you meeting them at the Big House?" She asked and he nodded again. "Okay, I'll walk you there." Percy stifled a groan and tried to keep his smile up. They began walking again and he prayed furiously that the Avengers would be at the Big House.
When they finally reached it's steps and climbed onto the porch, Percy's heart was thumping like a wild horse and his palms felt slick with sweat and he could only hope Annabeth, who was still holding his hand, wouldn't notice.
He, still smiling, knocked on the door and waited impatiently for it to be answered. Luckily someone answered, unluckily it was Tony. For the second time that day, Percy had to stifle a groan. "Hey!" He said, his voice chipper. "Sorry I'm late, I was hanging out with Annabeth."
Percy tried to communicate with his eyes that he needed Tony to go along with this, and either it worked and Tony understood, or Percy really was supposed to be here for a meeting and he forgot. (Very likely at this point.)
"Yeah, we were wondering when you'd get here. Come on." Tony went along with it and Percy grinned triumphantly. He leaned down and gave Annabeth a kiss on the forehead before letting go of her hand and stepping into the Big House.
As soon as the door was shut he turned around to peak out the window. He saw Annabeth heading back towards camp and he punched the air to celebrate his success.
"Wow, I thought you loved your girlfriend."
Percy whirled around to see Tony frowning at him, arms crossed over his chest.
"I do, but I need to do something and I don't want her to come." Percy explained. Inwardly, he cringed. Had it really looked like he didn't want to be around Annabeth? That wasn't true. He did love her, but he wanted her safe.
Tony looked at Percy quizzically. "What's so important that you can't do it with your other half?" Percy looked at him blankly. "What?"
Tony rolled his eyes. "I thought you knew Greek mythology. Ya know, humans were originally made with double everything? Two heads, four arms, that kind of stuff. But then Zeus split them in half blah, blah, blah, dooming them to forever look for their other half, that kind of thing. So, ya know, your other half is Annabeth."
Percy opened his mouth, but he couldn't think of what to say so he closed his mouth and looked down. He uncomfortably shuffled his feet and began to creep towards the door.
"Where on earth are you going Percy?" Tony asked. Percy shrugged. He didn't want to tell him. "Come on, tell me." Tony demanded, a bit of a whine creeping into his voice. Percy glared at him in irritation but didn't say anything. "Pleeeeeaaaaasssseeee?" Tony said as his voice rose in pitch and he batted his eyes and pouted.
Percy pulled a face. "Stop acting like a kid, Stark." He said with a frown but Tony only repeated please, over and over again until Percy threw up his hands in defeat."Alright! I was going to Central Park."
Now it was Tony's turn to pull a face. "You couldn't have told me that?" He said with a sigh. "It's not like it's a bad place to be." Percy's eyes quickly darted away and he shifted his weight. Tony's eyes began to narrow like his moms did whenever Percy broke something.
"What happened?" Tony asked. Now, 'what'd you do' or 'what are you going to do' just, 'what happened'.
Percy sighed. If he didn't tell Tony, he would never leave him alone. And if he left without telling him, he might go to Annabeth and rat him out. So Percy told him. He didn't leave out a single detail, he told him about what Tommy had said, his dream, the rock he'd found on his cabin doorstep, all of it. It felt kind of nice to tell someone about his suspicions and worries. Even if that person was a giant child and not really a demigod.
Tony nodded once he was done and held up two fingers. "Give me two minuets, I'll get a car for us and then-"
"No." Percy interrupted him before Tony's words had even fully registered in his mind. When they did, he was glad he had. "I mean, Tony, this is dangerous, demigod stuff. I can't have you come, you could die." Tony stood up tall and crossed his arms over his chest. His eyes flashed and he clenched his jaw.
"No?"
~(._.)~
Maybe someday Percy would look back on this and laugh, but right now? He was just pissed. He slouched in his seat in the car and crossed his arms over his chest. He must have looked like a teenager who'd just been told he couldn't go to a party.
Is that what teenagers looked like when they were told they couldn't go to parties? He would have to assume so, since he'd never been told he couldn't go to one. He'd never really been invited to one to begin with. His frown deepened. It was such a trivial mortal thing and Percy was always too busy trying to survive to really bother with being a normal teen. It bothered him that he couldn't catch a break.
He'd been so lost in thought that he didn't even notice when someone yelled his name, until someone tapped his shoulder. He jumped in surprise and banged his head on the car roof. "Ow..." He muttered as he rubbed it. He glared at the person who had tapped him.
"Sorry," Steve said sincerely. "But we're here." Percy looked past him to see he was right. The car was parked beside the gate into the park and everyone else was waiting for him with varying forms of patience.
Everyone else.
It irked Percy that the entire Avengers team had come. He was glad that they wanted to help, but honestly. He'd saved the world twice, he was capable of what he was about to do. He didn't need back up. He'd reminded Tony that the instant he'd shown up with the others, but that hadn't shaken the annoying Billionaire.
Percy got out of the car and slammed the door shut, then dusted his hands off. It wasn't because the car was dirty, but in his nervousness he needed to give his hands something to do to hide that they were shaking.
He led the team of adults into the park. He fallowed the familiar path between the tree's that led to the giant boulder. At least, where the giant boulder had once been. Several tree's close to the boulder, and all the grass nearby, had been flattened during the explosion. The broken bits of stone were littered around the clearing. Some were embedded in the tree trunks.
But that was all trivial little details. They didn't mean anything because what really caught Percy's eye, was the black pit where the entrance to the underworld had once stood. A black pit that reeked death and darkness and pulled at him to come closer.
"What is that?" Natasha asked. Percy turned to her, then back to the pit.
"It's the way to Thanatos." He said as he stepped to the edge. He stared down, but there was nothing to see. It was just endless dark.
Tony stepped forward and grabbed his shoulders, pulling him back. "Whoa kid, don't do that."
Percy frowned and shook off his hands. "Why? It's were we need to go." Tony groaned.
"Really?" Percy nodded and the man slumped in disappointment. He muttered something under his breath about 'hating black portals', but Percy ignored him and stepped back to the pit edge.
The pull was greater than ever and it took all his self control not to jump in. He took a deep, silent breath, and bent his knees. When he jumped, it felt like he was swimming through blood again. His head ducked under swiftly but he moved in slow motion. It wasn't until he felt like his lugs were about to burst from lack of air, did the portal spit him out onto a stone floor.
His side hurt from where he'd landed on the hard surface but he inhaled deep gulps of cold air. He heard a strange sucking noise and looked up. Above him, it looked like someone was pushed towards him through a skin of plastic. It made him gag as he pushed himself away so he wouldn't get squashed.
Surprisingly, Tony landed on the floor. Percy had thought he would have gone last but he was wrong.
Steve fallowed next, almost crushing Tony which might have been amusing if there hadn't been a real threat of Steve actually crushing him. Natasha came next, with Clint and Bruce fallowing. Thor wasn't around, he had left for Asgard having been called there by his father on some important matter.
After everyone was through and had gotten their breath back, Percy got to his feet and examined his surroundings which he realized he should have done earlier.
"Where are we?" Tony asked as he too looked around. Percy shrugged.
"This isn't the original tunnel to the underworld. My guess? When the boulder exploded, it destroyed that gateway and create one to some other place." Tony made a circular motion with his hand, waiting for Percy to continue. When he didn't, he frowned.
"Which is...?"
"No clue."
"Great."
Percy ignored him and carefully picked his way between the tightly packed bodies. The room they had landed in wasn't very large. It was circular, and made of simple stone. The portal they had fallen through was on the ceiling. The entire area had been illuminated by a single torch above a single archway.
The tunnel was swathed in darkness with an occasional glimmer of light showing where far away torches had been placed. So, being the true seaweed brain he was, he began the trek down the corridor with no plan in mind.
~(._.)~
There was light at the end of the tunnel. Yeah, yeah really cheesy what with him heading towards the home of the god of the dead, but hey. When you've been walking in a poorly lit tunnel for what feels like forever, your gonna say some stupid stuff.
As Percy drew closer towards the end he subconsciously began to pick up his pace, only to freeze seconds later on the threshold of the entrance to a much, much larger cavern. Why? Because Nico was right in front of him of course! Duh! Percy watched, his eyes wide and his feet glued to the floor. His cousin was floating in a giant bubble seeming to be made from faint gray shadows. His skin was pale and his eyes were closed, his chin resting on his chest, but Percy could see his chest rising and falling so he was alive.
Percy was so focused on his cousin it took him a second to realize that Clint and Tony had both crashed into his back and were bickering. He groaned and turned to watch as Natasha and Bruce avoided the pair, leaving Steve to pull them apart and scold them for acting like kids.
Percy left them to sort themselves out and stepped into the cavernous stone chamber, which was relatively empty save for him, Nico, and the giant bubble.
He walked closer and closer and reached out with a hand, resting his palm against the constantly shifting surface...
Only to instantly be thrown back by a pulse of power. He crashed to the ground and the world dimmed around him for a second, the others were rushing over to him with concern etched in their faces. Bruce leaned over him and checked his pulse, before having Steve help him sit up so he could examine the teen better.
"WHO DARES TREAD UPON MY SACRED GROUND?"
A voice boomed threateningly and the cave shook with dangerous tremors. Percy ignored Bruce fretting over him and pushed himself to his feet., albeit a bit wobbly. He stood defiantly and pushed himself in front of the Avengers, his chin jutting out in defiance as the form of a god faded into existence in front of him.
The god Thanatos definitely looked better than when Percy had last seen him. His red skin, pulsing with awful wounds, had faded and left his skin as smooth as before. He was walking upright and didn't seem to be acting like an animal. The only thing off about him was his eyes. Well, technically the only thing off about him was his face, since he didn't have eyes. Only black pits.
"I knew you would come."
Percy gritted his teeth and steeled his nerves as the god spoke. "Yeah, I bet you did." He said lowly. "I bet you even know why I came."
A smile began to creep up the gods face. But it was a cold smile, and he leaned forward as though in anticipation. "Yes." He said with a grin. "I know why you came. But..." He held up a hand and waved at the men and woman behind Percy. "Do they know?"
Percy stiffened. Behind him, the others shifted and looked at each other uncomfortably. "Know...what?" Steve asked as he took a step towards Percy. "What do we not know?" His tone was soft, but had a deadly edge to it.
Percy didn't say anything, he didn't even turn around to look at them. He could feel the confusion, see the bewilderment that was plastered on their faces. He shook off Steve's hand once he placed it on his shoulder and continued to stare coldly at the god.
"Do we have a deal then?" He asked, his tone cold, his voice deadly calm and devoid of emotion. The grin on Thanatos' face widened. An almost hungry look appeared on his handsome features.
"You mean," He drawled with a mischievous smirk at the Avengers. "The deal were I take your soul, a soul worth millions, in exchange for the souls of a few hundred demigods?" He laughed as horrified gasps resounded through the room. "Why yes Perseus, I think we do."
"No!" Tony yelled and he grabbed Percy's shoulders, whirling him around and forcing him to look at him. "What the Hell Percy?!" His eyes were wild. "Are you fucking crazy!?" Percy frowned, his eyes cold.
"You don't understand Tony. I have to do this." He pushed Tony off of him and took a step back. His features betrayed the inward guilt and utter turmoil he felt inside. "They're dead because of me, they'll never have a chance for a normal life because of my actions." He looked down, too ashamed to meet the gazes of his friends.
"What about Annabeth?"
Percy flinched at his girlfriends name and dared to look up into the angry green gaze of Natasha, her lips pursed and white. "She'll understand..." He whispered as he tried to ignore the pang in his heart at the thought of leaving her.
"Percy, we can't let you do this." Steve said. He hardened his gaze and clenched his jaw. "This is out of the question." Percy narrowed his eyes.
"Your not in charge of me." He hissed. "I can make my own decisions." He didn't wait for a reply, only whirled around and stuck out his hand to Thanatos who took it instantly.
They shook.
Percy cried out in sudden pain as white hot agony flared up in his hand. He dropped to his knee's and tried to tug his hand away but Thanatos held his hand in an iron grip. A tugging sensation in Percy's heart warned him something unnatural was happening but he was helpless to stop it. The Avengers cried out in panic as he screamed but they didn't seem able to do anything.
He dimly saw the bubble holding Nico begin to fade but he soon became to immersed in his own torture to pay attention to him any more.
The tugging grew and grew until Percy felt like whatever was being taken from was only connected with him by a single, paper thin piece of string.
A flash of white light, yelling, a girls scream and the boom of a deep voice suddenly broke through the barrier between him and the world.
The string snapped.
The thing was lost, but he didn't go with it and he was pretty sure he had needed to go with that little piece of him he had just lost. That thing was important. Right?
It suddenly dawned on him that he was lying sprawled out on the floor and he rolled onto his side, the world dipped and swayed for a second but he continued to stand again. It was then that he turned and saw he wasn't alone.
The Avengers were staring at him in horror, but there were other people here now which Percy found surprising until he recognized them, and then his blood ran cold. One person was Annabeth, her eyes wet and shinning with tears though he couldn't see why. And there was the gods. Zeus, and his father, and Hades. He stared at them in confusion, uncomprehending what was going on, especially when Annabeth bowed.
"All Hail Perseus Jackson." She chocked out as she stared at the ground. "God of Olympus."
~(._.)~
Percy watched from where he sat as Nico calmly demonstrated to a little kid how to properly swing a sword. He smiled when he felt Annabeth sit down next to him and he wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
"So your a god." She said and Percy sighed.
"Yep." He said sadly.
"Forever?"
He brightened up. "No, actually." When he'd been about to give Thanatos his soul, the gods had changed him into a god so he wouldn't be lost to them. They might have greater use for him later, as they had so kindly put it.
But many of them hadn't agreed to turn him into a god so it was only temporary which he was perfectly fine with. For now, his soul was gone but that meant that the dead demigods and Nico got to come back. He was happy. And it gave his Uncle Hades time to replace all the souls through some means Percy was unaware of. He didn't want to know though.
"And the mortal heroes?" She asked softly.
"Gone back, they're part of the bargain was filled. They promise to keep in touch though." The Avengers, they had done a good job. Hanging with them had been hard and Percy honestly failed to see how they had helped him, but he'd stopped having Flashbacks so they'd done something right.
Annabeth sighed and he looked at her worriedly. "You okay?" He asked. She tilted her head to look at him, her gray eyes shining with mirth.
"I was just thinking, I'm never gonna have a dull moment with you, are I?" She asked with a laugh that he gladly joined in on.
"No." He said and shook his head. "But such is the life of a demigod. Come on, lets spar."
