At this point Hinata wasn't depressed anymore, she wasn't even sad. She was upset, angry, furious. After running out of the restaurant Hinata felt that she needed to start a new. Walking aimlessly through the village, she came to a stop to get her feelings was still in shock after slapping Naruto, after all it wasn't in her character to do that. While giving it some thought she was a little happy, all of her hurt had finally reached Naruto in a way.
Through her rampant emotions Hinata blindly ran home, not the home she shared with Naruto but her old home. Standing in front of the Hyuga compound Hinata slumped down near the entrance. She hadn't known what she was thinking. Who was she kidding, she couldn't return, she had been castaway and discarded.
As it started getting darker Hinata forced herself to stand, she needed to find a place to stay. She wouldn't go back to her house, it was too isolated and cold. She also knew she might have a run in with Naruto, and at the moment she wouldn't be able to handle that. Turning slowly Hinata began to question who she could stay with. If she stayed with her friends all she would get was pity.
"Hinata!?" A voice brought her out of her thoughts.
Turning around Hinata inwardly groaned, this person was not what she needed right now. Quickly drying her tears, Hinata stood up straight trying to show at least an ounce of confidence.
Sakura watched Hinata quickly rub her eyes. "Hey, Hinata! Is something wrong?"
Hinata froze at Sakura's voice, why was Sakura even attempting to converse with her at all. Staring forward, Hinata shuddered from the cold breeze that decided to pick up at that moment. While Hinata held her arms around herself protectively, Sakura continued speaking, however Hinata quickly interrupted.
"Pl-please stop."
Sakura leaned forward so she could hear Hinata's voice over the sudden gust of wind. "What?"
"I said, please stop."
"Stop, what?" Sakura questioned, she cocked her head in confusion.
Hinata sighed, she could feel the tears threatening to fall again from her eyes.
"Why?" Hinata asked in a more demanding voice. "Why would, you do something like that?"
"You know Hinata, if you don't clearly say what your talking about I'm not gonna know."
Sucking in as much courage as she Could Hinata continued. "I'm talking about t-the... with Naruto." She mentally cursed at herself for not even being able to utter the word.
From the corner of her eye Hinata saw Sakura stiffen a bit, now that she thought about it everywhere she went people where staring at her.
"Oh,that..." Sakura didn't really know how to react at this point. "I didn't think Naruto would tell you. At least so quickly anyway."She whispered quietly.
Silence engulfed them and their surroundings, it seemed that the conversation wasn't going anywhere. As the darkness of the night striped their shadows from themselves they were standing alone. Only each other to keep company, and what a bad company that was.
Sakura was the first to speak.
"Look Hinata," she said with an exaggerated sigh. "I'm not gonna say I don't feel bad for what happened, cause I do. But I'm not going to apologize either. I finally am starting to know what you've been feeling for Naruto after all these years and I really do like him. After what happened yesterday, man." A small smirk adorned Sakura's face.
Hinata opened her mouth slightly trying her very hardest to speak, but nothing came out. Her words hung silently in the air clumped in her throat. She was about to say something nasty, but she couldn't do it. Yes, Sakura and Naruto had things to resolve and now it included her, however Hinata could not help thinking why her.
Mustering up enough courage to speak Hinata asked Sakura.
"Why, now!?"
Sakura's smirk slowly, faded.
"Because, I could tell it was something we both wanted."
With a slight smugness in her answer Sakura wrapped her scarf around her neck, hoping for a little warmth. Looking up back at Hinata, Sakura stepped back a little. Hinata was slowly charging towards Sakura ,however a voice broke through the silence.
"Hinata-sama"
Hinata quickly turned her head, standing in the front gate Ko stepped out of the shadows.
She stopped in her tracks at the familiar voice calling out to her.
Sakura quickly exhaled the breath that she didn't notice she was holding. She knew Hinata would never strike her, but she also felt that she might have crossed the line somewhere in their conversation.
Ko quickly ran over to Hinata, unlike the other Hyuga's Ko truly cared for Hinata. After all he had been looking after her for most of her life. Ko saw the changes the Uzumaki boy brought to his mistress, and he watched her morph into a beautiful highly skilled kunoichi.
Gently placing a blanket around Hinata's shoulder Ko directed her to a place to stay. When walking away Hinata slowly turned around and stared at Sakura with the saddest eyes Ko had ever witnessed on his mistresses face. As the wind gently lifted up Hinata's hair fluttering about in the dance of the wind, a tear or two cascaded down her face making it look all the more heartbreaking.
Sakura wasn't to happy about being left there by herself, but she shrugged it off. The conversation felt two heavy and all it would do is add stress that she didn't need.
From the moment Ko had stepped out of the Hyuga complex he could feel a certain tension in the air. With curiosity getting the better of him he decided to search for the cause. When Lady Hinata appeared in his line of view a certain relief washed over him. After all he had not seen Hinata-sama in two years. He was not even allowed to be present at her wedding since the Hyuga's had banned all klan members from attending.
After the two years of the separation from Hinata, Ko had been stuck with regular desk work in the compound. Long gone were the days of watching Hinata-sama from when she was younger, she had matured into a newly confident kunoichi. Or so she had, because what currently sat in front of him was an empty shell from a shattered soul.
When they arrived at Ko's residence, he quickly directed Hinata to a place to rest. She was shivering severely and he could tell that it wasn't from the chilly night.
Gathering most of the blankets he could find he laid them on top of her sleeping body, after giving his bed to Hinata she soon quickly fell asleep.
He soon noticed however that her shivering did not subside as he had hoped. Adding more blankets, Ko bundled Hinata in more covering than she probably needed but he just wanted to make sure she was alright.
Settling in his living room Ko sat on the couch and stared at his bedroom door which Hinata now occupied. He had heard of nothing about Lady Hinata's life after she left but this morning that had all changed. There were whispers even in the compound and for that to happen something big must be circulating through the village. He had hoped though that is had nothing to do with Hinata.
A/N: Well. I'm back. Not really. Can't believe I've left this story for 3 years. A lot has happened. I'm in college now so I really do not have the time, but I've been feeling bad all this time not updating. I even had this chapter sitting on my laptop for years, don't know why I never posted it. But hopefully posting this puts me back in the groove of things.
Also since I've been gone, our lovely OTP has become canon, and as much as I love Naruto:The Last I still don't fully understand the shift of Naruto's feelings so suddenly. So trying to finish writing this I hope to get my own personal closure.
