Sam's POV

I sat on the bed in my hotel room with my cellphone. Emily was in the shower, so I decided it was the best time to check in with Bella. I was just about to hit her number when I heard my fiancée's voice.

"Sam Uley, you put that phone down right now."

I turned to see Emily with a hand on her hip and a stern look in her eyes. "I'm just checking in on the Pack."

"You will do no such thing. You have checked up on them four times already. They are fine. Bella can handle things just find. She learned from the best," Emily said.

"I know, but we've got a lot going on right now. We have two wolves ready to phase and Victoria's on the loose," I said. I was really against this mini vacation anyway for those reasons exactly, but Emily and Bella had ganged up on me.

"And Bella promised to call you if anything happened. You need to relax, Sam, and Bella should get used to being in charge anyway," Emily said.

"Yeah, I guess you're right about that, but I just feel like it's a bad time to be a man down," I said.

Just then, my phone rang in my hand. I looked down and saw that it was Bella. I immediately answered it. "Bella, what's wrong?" It wasn't Bella's voice that came through the other end though.

"Hello, Sam, it's Edward."

My eyes widened in concern. The only reason Edward would be calling me was if Bella couldn't. "What's wrong, Edward. Is Bella okay?"

"Yes, she's fine. She just didn't have time to call you herself. She had to phase," Edward said.

"Seth or Quil?" I asked. I figured it was that one of them phased and not the situation with Victoria because Edward wouldn't have stopped to call me otherwise. He would've wanted to help.

"Seth… and his sister," Edward said.

I went completely still. I could barely feel any part of my body and I was sure that if I hadn't been sitting down, my legs would've given out. Leah had faced. The idea of that had never even crossed my mind. It should have. Bella phasing had proved that it wasn't a boy's only club anymore, but I just never considered it. I supposed I hadn't wanted to.

"Sam?" Emily called out to be in a concerned voice.

"A…Are you sure, Edward?" I asked. It was really a stupid question. There was no way to be unsure when someone turned into a large wolf.

"Yes. Sue Clearwater called and told Bella," he said.

"Alright, thank you. I'm on my way," I said before hanging up.

"What's wrong?" Emily asked before sitting down next to me.

I sighed and took her hand. "Seth phased, but he's not the only one."

"Quil too. Two in one night?"

I should my head. "Quil hasn't phased yet. Leah has."

Emily's eyes went wide with shock. "What?!"

"Leah just joined the Pack," I said with a shudder. Things just became much more complicated. I had been doing my best to stay clear of Leah. I'd hurt her enough. Staying away from her seemed to be the only thing I could do to help her move on. Now that would be impossible.

Emily was quiet for a few moments, seemingly taking in the information. "Oh my God! What are we going to do? How do we face her?"

"This isn't on you," I told her.

"Yes, it is. You didn't have a choice. I did," Emily said.

"Nobody can fight an imprint," I said before standing up. Neither of us really had a choice in the matter, but I could still understand why Emily felt guilty. I felt guilty too.

"You're going, right?" Emily asked.

"I have to. Right now, I'm still Alpha. Are you going to be okay?" I asked her. I knew she was upset over this and I didn't want to leave her alone, but I had to go.

"Yeah. I'll drive the truck back," Emily said.

I kissed leant down and kissed her briefly before heading for the door.

Bella's POV

I was running towards the Clearwaters in wolf form. I couldn't believe this was happening. I thought I'd have time to warn Sam before this happened. This was what I got for waiting so long to tell him. 'Jake, where are you?'

'Just hit the Clearwaters, but they took off. You were right, Bella. Leah phased too,' he said.

'I know.'

Just then, we heard Paul and Jared. 'What's up?' Paul asked.

'This is seriously bad timing. I was with Kim,' Jared complained.

'Seth and Leah just phased," I told them.

'Holy crap! Tell me you're kidding,' Jared said shocked.

We then heard a scared and frantic voice. 'What's going on? There are voices everywhere! And I have paws!'

'Seth, where the hell are you?! Get back here!" a female voice said.

'Leah? Where are you? I'm scared,' Seth said brokenly.

'Seth, Leah, everything's going to be okay. Tell us where you are, and we'll help you,' I said gently.

'Who the hell are you?!' Leah demanded to know.

Before I had the chance to answer, I got a glimpse of Seth's thoughts of his surroundings. It seemed like he was by First Beach. 'Jake, you and Embry go help Seth. Wait, Embry's not here yet. Where is he?'

'I'm here,' a new voice said. "Sorry, Bella, I was with my mom. It took me a minute to get away.'

'It's fine. Leah and Seth have both phased. I need you and Jake to go help Seth. He's at First Beach,' I told him quickly.

'Stay the hell away from my little brother! Seth, run!' Leah yelled.

'No, Seth, don't! This is Jacob Black. We want to help you. Just wait for us," Jacob said.

'O…Okay," Seth said. His fear was still very evident.

'I said stay the hell away from him! I'll kill you freaks if you go near my little brother!' Leah said with a snarl, which seemed to startle her, as we soon heard a whimper.

'Leah, they're not gonna hurt him. We only want to help the both of you,' I assured her.

'We don't need your help, Swan. Yeah, I figured out who you are. You're all from Sam's gang! What the hell did you do to us?!' Leah demanded to know.

'Yeah, because this is totally what we wanted. Sam's bitter ex-girlfriend a part of the Pack. It's just great," Paul said sarcastically.

'Paul, enough. Look, Leah, we've all been where you are, and I promise you, none of us had any say in it. We didn't do this to you. Your DNA did. It's in all of our genes," I explained.

'I'm getting closer to her, Bella. I think she's in the woods near Billy Black's,' Jared said.

'Leah, please, don't go anywhere. Let us help you. Otherwise, you'll never get back to human form," I told her. I hoped knowing that would get her to let us help her.

When Leah didn't answer, I decided to take it as a sign that she'd stay put. I ran as fast as I could through the woods towards Billy's. I found a gray wolf about a mile from his house.

Leah jumped back a second after seeing me. My appearance clearly startled her.

'Leah, it's okay. It's Bella Swan. Paul Lahote and Jared Cameron are coming up behind you,' I said as the other two walked up.

Leah turned back to them for a second and then returned her gaze to me. 'What the hell is this?'

'Leah, you've grown up on this reservation. I'm sure you remember hearing the stories about how the tribe descended from wolves,' I said.

'Are you freaking kidding me? You expect me to believe that old wives' tale is true,' Leah asked, clearly skeptical.

Paul laughed. 'Look at us, sweetheart, or better yet, look at yourself.'

'Leah, the stories are true, all of them are. Our ancestors shape shifted into wolves. They existed to fight the Cold Ones, or vampires. We all started to shift as well not that long ago. Sam was first and then the rest of us followed one by one,' I explained.

'No, this is crazy. They were just a bunch of creepy stories,' Leah said.

'We all thought that until it happened to us,' Jared said.

'You said you could get me back to the way I was. Do it and leave me alone.'

'We can help you phase back into human form, but we can't leave you alone. You're a part of us now,' I said as gently as I could. I knew this was a nightmare for her. She didn't want this. She had even more reason not to want it than the rest of us.

'I don't want to be a part of you! I can't think of anything I want less than to be a part of Sam's little gang for the rest of my life. To be forced his presence every freaking day!' Leah said angrily.

As if on cue, Sam's voice was heard seconds later. 'Bella?'

Leah growled loudly as soon as she heard Sam's voice.

'Hey, Sam. Jake and Embry are trying to help Seth at First Beach. Do you wanna help them?' I asked. I knew Sam would understand what I was saying, that it wasn't a good idea for him to be around Leah right now.

'Yeah, that's probably for the best,' he said.

I turned back to Leah and sighed. Leah was really angry and hurt, especially after hearing Sam. She wasn't going to be able to phase back anytime soon. It was going to be a long night.
