Their first few days back home were nearly perfect. Fitz held her hand through town as she picked out decorations for the tree, the house, and his room. She wanted every room to have a touch of Christmas. His step-mom had given her the green light to decorate and she held nothing back. She thought Fitz would complain or even tell her that she was doing too much but he never did. He helped her reach the high places, hanging an obnoxious amount of lights, and rubbed her feet when she was tired. Every time she looked over at him no matter where they were, he was smiling at her. They cuddled and watched all of her favorite movies, well tried to at least. Fitz rarely kept his hands to himself and they often ended up fooling around more than they did watching TV. They were insatiable, they couldn't keep their hands to themselves, all it took was a look and he was on top of her. The trip was everything he planned and more until this morning when she reminded him, again, that she was having brunch with her parents.
He watched her from the bed as she dressed. Today was the day his parents and siblings returned from their vacation and he wanted her to be there with him when they arrived but she had other plans. He had no right to be irritated with her, she told him about the brunch with her family on more than one occasion since they had been back home, actually even before they left Connecticut. It was apparently something her family and Mark's family had come up with the last few times she had visited home. Their parents having survived and recovered from their accident made them want to get together as often as they could. Olivia even invited him but he wanted to see his little sister and brother. He didn't know why he hoped she would change her mind, to tell him she would stay with him instead. He was being selfish.
"Don't you think that is a little much for brunch?" Fitz asked, slightly annoyed, his voice betraying him when he tried to hide his agitation. He hated the fact that she would be in the same room as Mark and his family. She shouldn't even be talking to his family anymore, let alone getting all dressed up for them.
"We are going to 'La Beauté' it's not exactly a jeans and hoodie kind of place." Olivia scoffed. She continued to tuck her cream silk shirt into her navy colored midrise ultra slim fit khakis they weren't too dressy but not too casual either. She moved to the mirror and placed her long silver necklace over her head. She accented it with a bracelet and charms on her wrist, she clasped her watch on her wrist and gave herself a once over in the mirror. Her make-up was perfect, her hair was curly and flowing down her back, and she had to admit she looked damned good, she thought to herself.
"Have fun." Fitz said dryly, breaking her train of thought. She turned to see him pulling a shirt roughly over his head as he walked toward the bathroom. "Fitz." She called but he kept walking, "Fitz wait-"
"Have fun Olivia." He repeated cutting her off as he continued walking.
She stood there looking at the door debating if she should go talk to him, to see what was bothering him. He didn't seem to mind her doing this brunch when she mentioned it multiple times before and it was throwing her for a loop why it was all of a sudden a problem. She looked down at her watch, she didn't have time for this, she couldn't be late. She turned back towards the mirror and grabbed her heel off of the floor placing it on, when reached for the second one she felt him move behind her. She turned to face him as she stepped into the other shoe. He ran his hand up her arm until it reached her cheek, placing her hand on top of his she leaned into his palm kissing the inside of it.
"We talked about this." She stated softly.
He shrugged, "So."
She chewed on the inside of her bottom lip, "Don't be mean to me."
"Why not?" He removed his hand from her face crossing his arm across his chest, pushing his other hand in the pocket of the shorts he was wearing. He wanted to close himself off, and at the same time control his hands, he would reach out to touch her otherwise.
"Because.." She wants to give him the same attitude that he's giving her, to say whatever and leave but she doesn't, she tells him how she is feeling. She grabs his hand and pulls his arm from his chest intertwining their fingers, "..because it makes me sad." She pouted.
"Then you know how I am feeling." He says grimly.
She hates the look of despair in his eyes, "But that's not my intention-"
"And yet, here we are." Again Fitz breaks their contact as he takes a step back and leans against his dresser. She's just standing there in front of him looking at the ground and he can see her rethinking if she should leave or not and it is taking everything in him not to grab her and kiss her. Taking her in, he can't deny how beautiful she looks, her curly hair made her look so carefree and fresh. She looks up at him for a brief second and he's losing his patience. "You should leave, you know how Coach is about timeliness."
Olivia looks up again at the sound of his voice and he can't handle the expression on her face, her eyes were melting him from the inside out. Fuck, he just needed her to leave. He turned his head breaking their eye contact and he could see her pull her jacket on and grab her purse off of the bed out of his peripheral vision; then she's right in front of him standing in between his legs. She is so close that he can't even focus and he doesn't want to look down at her but when she starts speaking his eyes are drawn to hers.
"Kiss me goodbye." She is looking up at him with those doe eyes and he can see she is conflicted. He stands there eyeing her and she leans forward kissing him softly. He doesn't move at first, he tries to resist but she is irresistible. He opens his mouth slightly and he feels her relax into him when he kisses her back just as slowly. She pulls back and he rolls his eyes and crosses his arms in front of him hating that she stopped. Seeing his reaction, she whispers an explanation, "I have to go, or I'll be late."
He rolls his eyes again, why didn't she just walk out like he told her. His dick was rock hard now and he desperately needed a release. His frustration was growing by the second. "Then leave."
"I'll see you in a bit, ok?" When he just stares at her Olivia sighs, "I love you." He still just looks at her and she can feel her eyes watering, she hated when he did that. Olivia didn't know why him not saying it back upset her so much, she knew that he loved her but it still got to her every time he didn't say it. She breaks their eye contact, "Fine." She steps back and sniffles a bit and he grabs her elbow to stop her, she almost pulls away but he keeps his grip standing up from the dresser to move towards her.
"Liv.." Fitz calls softly pulling her to him, "Hey, I love you too." Fitz breathes.
Fitz gently turns her head to face him, she narrows her eyes at him then shakes her head taking a step back out of his arms and walks out of the room. He sighs.
He's an idiot, he knows that. He is going to push her away if he didn't stop getting in his own way. Why was he like this? He was not proving that she was the most important person in his life, he was being that selfish guy he told Dr. Martin he didn't want to be. Dr. Martins words come to mind, "You have to be open to the fact that she might not always agree or prioritize the same as you."
Her family was a priority to her, he knew that, just like his was for him. He should understand that, why did he need to be there to greet his family? Why wasn't he with her, then they could come back together? That made more sense than being apart and him letting her leave upset, he hated he hadn't come to this conclusion earlier but he was blinded by not having his way. Again, thinking of himself. He pushed himself off of the dresser again and walked into the bathroom.
Olivia arrived at the restaurant faster than she anticipated. She doesn't even remember the drive, her mind was so focused on how she left things with Fitz. She wondered if she had done the right thing by coming knowing his feelings. She shook her head, no, she can't put her parents, her little brother, on the back burner. They loved her too, why did she have to choose? She was staying with Fitz and his family, so she had plenty of time to catch up with them.
She had been in town for three days and today was the first day she was seeing her parents and she wasn't going to back out because he wanted her to himself. They didn't deserve that. Conflicted, she sighed, at the same time she didn't want Fitz to be in a mood the rest of the day. She wanted him to be happy, she loved seeing him smile. She pulled out her phone and sent him a quick text.
Olivia: I don't like leaving when we are at odds. I hope this won't ruin the mood for the day, I miss you already..
She pressed send and waited for a response but it never came. She groaned and grabbed her purse off of the passenger seat of his Range Rover. Her phone vibrated as she stepped out of the vehicle and she bit her lip when she saw his name.
Fitz: I miss you more Livvie, I'm an idiot, I shouldn't have acted like that. I'm so sorry.. Smile please, you are gorgeous.
Fitz watched her from across the parking lot and he smiled with her as she read his text. Her reaction to him never got old, he took a deep breath to calm himself down. He couldn't walk in to meet Coach with a bulge in his pants. He watched her walk in before pulling up to the valet and tossing them his keys.
He decided that he would rather spend his morning with her making sure that she was ok rather than waiting on his family to come home. Livvie had been his only family for so long that she deserved to have him on her arm. He watched her give her parents a hug at the table and he heard Coach ask where he was and that is when he made his entrance.
"I'm right here Coach." He watched her eyes light up in surprise when she saw him approach their table. "I almost didn't make it." He opened his arms for her and she walked into them slowly, he hugged her closely whispering in her ear, "I'm sorry for my attitude earlier Livvie. Am I still your favorite person?" He leaned back and looked into her eyes questioningly.
Olivia couldn't believe the man she was holding in her arms. Fitz was absolutely the sexiest man she had ever laid eyes on. He was wearing a slim fit white button up, dark grey plaid pants that stopped just above his ankles, a brown belt with brown dress shoes. He looked like something out of a magazine, she wanted to pull him out of there and take him back to bed. The look he was giving her gave her chills, his voice was so deep and she couldn't help but kiss him. It didn't last long but she needed it.
They stepped apart and Fitz placed his hand on her lower back as they greeted everyone at else at the table. When he got to Mark he noticed a woman next to him that he hadn't met before. "Hello, I don't believe we have met. I'm Fitz."
She reached out and shook his hand, "Hi, I am Sofia, Mark's girlfriend. You must be Olivia's boyfriend?"
He laughed, "Yes, that would be me." He let go of her hand and found his seat. There was something familiar about her but he couldn't put his finger on it. He shook it off and took his seat next to Olivia.
The group ordered and the conversation flowed. The mood was light, loving, and he felt right at home. When the food arrived he fed Olivia from his plate when she insisted on tasting his meal. He shook his head and laughed at her when she would moan after every bite. Dessert was on its way out and he had his arm around Olivia as she laid her head on his shoulder when her mother addressed him.
"So Fitz, how is school and basketball?" She took a drink of her mimosa before continuing. "I haven't caught up with you since you were here last month."
Fitz felt Olivia tense in his arms and he knew what she was thinking. He would tell her more later, this wasn't the time to discuss why he visited her mother when they weren't together.
Without looking down at Olivia he replied, "Basketball is great actually, I love UConn more than I thought I would. And my teammates are the best."
"Of course they are, they understand without you they would be in trouble." Eli responded.
"Well yeah," He laughed, "But Coach, you know how much of a knucklehead I can be. They actually keep me humble and don't let me get a big head."
"How do they feel about you not returning to team next year?" Eli questioned, Fitz gives him a look, "You have told them you're entering the draft right?"
Fitz removed his arm from Olivia's shoulders clasping his hands on his lap and shifted uncomfortably, "I was actually going to break it to them after we win the NCAA championship. I don't want the focus on me and my decision."
"I realize that son, but the whole world knows you are leaving, it isn't exactly a secret."
Fitz relaxed at his use of the word son. He loved that her family had accepted him and the fact that he would be their son in law in the future. "I just want to be sure, anything can happen between now and then. Enough about me though, how is the team this year?"
The conversation switched from him and remained that way the rest of their time in the restaurant. Olivia had gone quiet and Fitz hoped she was ok. He watched her kiss her little brother repeatedly on the cheeks as they gathered their things to leave the restaurant.
They had taken three steps outside of the dining area before there were people approaching with their sons asking for photos and autographs. Fitz was being generous, stopping and posing, shaking hands and answering questions. Onlookers passing by stopped, whispering to each other who was he and why was he receiving all of that attention. Olivia didn't mind at first but after the fifth time they were stopped it was becoming too much.
It was still surreal being recognized in public, Fitz knew that he was generating buzz in the sports world but this was the first time it affected his ability to move undetected. He wasn't sure if he should be happy or uneasy about his new-found fame. It didn't bother him that he was being stopped and asked for a minute of his day to take some photos, it bothered him that it obviously bothered Olivia.
Olivia let her hand slip from Fitz's as someone else approached and asked for his photo. She stepped to the side and tried not to let her emotions show. All she wanted to do was say her goodbyes to her family and then get home in enough time to cuddle with him. She glanced over to Fitz and he gives her an apologetic smile.
"I only have time for one more," Fitz announces to no one in particular. A teenage boy walks up to him, he's standing at about 6'1 wearing a UConn beanie and shakes his hand.
"I love your game, you are going to be a force in the league." The boy says as they pose for a photo. "How did you become so good at everything? I mean you can shoot, dribble, post up, and your hops are crazy."
Fitz thought on the question, he got it a lot, and he usually gave a cookie cutter answer but he wanted to give the kid something real. "Honestly, I work harder than everyone around me, when I was your age I basically ate slept and lived basketball. Partying and hanging out with girls came last. It's a little different now because," he looks up and smiles at Liv, "my priorities are different but basketball is still my life. Good luck and keep working."
Fitz walked over to where Olivia was standing and kisses her temple inhaling her scent. She wrapped her arms around him and they walked to the exit meeting up with her family.
"Coach, Mama Pope, I'm sorry about that I-"
"No, don't you dare apologize, you made those kids days back there. That's what it is all about." Maya squeezes his arm gently letting him know it was ok.
He lets go of Olivia and gives her mother a hug thanking her and then gives Eli a hug as well. Liv follows behind him and does the same. She makes her way back to him and he welcomes her back into his side.
Once everyone left they were the last two standing, he intertwined their fingers as he held her hand while they waited for his Corvette. Fitz would have someone come pick up the Range Rover later, he didn't want her to drive separately from him. Fitz asked the valet that was standing by to take a photograph of them before they left. He removed their jackets for the photo and it seemed to catch Olivia off guard.
"Why do you need a picture, haven't you taken enough?" She questioned.
Ignoring Olivia's comment, Fitz handed his phone to the guy, and wrapped his arm around her posing. The guy snapped a few pictures but he could tell she wasn't smiling. He leaned down placing his finger under her chin causing her to look up at him. "Remember what I told you earlier, you are gorgeous, smile." She smiled up at him and he forgot they were taking a picture until the guy cleared his throat, and they turned smiling, picture perfect.
When the other valet arrived, Fitz held the door for her to enter the car. Before they pulled off he leaned over in search of her lips, he had been longing to kiss her all morning. He was relieved when she welcomed his kiss, giving herself to him. He let her lips go with a pop and turned to drive. His hand went immediately to her thigh, he squeezed and rubbed there as he drove.
"That was a great way to start the day, thank you for inviting me." Fitz spoke as he drove. "Tonight, I want to take you out somewhere, to a place I know you will love because I love making you happy. Especially after how I handled things this morning."
Olivia was extremely turned on by the way he was rubbing her leg, she squeezed his hand letting him know she was listening and she appreciated his gesture to take them out.
As they continued on they rode in silence and she struggled to keep her breathing normal when he began to massage her inner thigh. He got a text and when he removed his hand from her leg she instantly missed his touch.
"Did you hear me Livvie?"
She looked over to him, "What was that?"
He pulled into the driveway of his house putting the car in park before he replied, "I said that was my Dad, they got delayed. They will be home later on."
She bit her lip and nodded her understanding. He hopped out of the car and walked slowly around the front to grab her door. After he opened it he stood about a half a step back, she stood out of the car and he was inches from her invading her personal space. Why was he so close?
"You know.." Fitz started as he pushed off of the car and starting walking in the house. He could hear her heels clicking on the floor as she followed behind him. "You never answered my question earlier."
Walking up the stairs Fitz started unbuttoning his shirt at the wrist folding it up his forearms. He opens the door to his room walking in and leaving it open for her to follow in behind him. He hears the door shut but she's not moving anymore so he turns around to look at her.
"Oh yeah?" She says gazing up at him through hooded eyelashes leaning back on the door biting on her finger. "And what question is that?"
He is in front of her in a flash, taking her finger out of her mouth and sucking it into his slowly before dropping it to her side. "I asked you..if I was still your favorite person.." He stutters out as she presses her hand firmly against the bulge in his pants.
She kisses his jaw, peppering slow kisses across it before moving to his neck and kissing up to his ear, "Let me show you, and..don't stop me." She leans back and looks him in his eyes, "Promise?", and when he nods she continues kissing down his chest tearing his shirt open in the process, buttons fly everywhere. Olivia reached for his belt buckle wasting no time getting it loose and pushing his pants and boxers down his legs. He kicks off his shoes and pants the rest of the way for her and she stands so fast she almost knocks him over. She pushes him against the door and kneels in front of him again and he can't take the anticipation.
Olivia licks her lips at the sight of him, he's so hard it looks painful. She licks from his base up to his shaft and his hips jerk when she blows on the sensitive tip. She smirks and looks up at him, "Patience." Taking half of his tip in her mouth she twirls her tongue around him in the way she knows drives him crazy. She refuses to suck him further into her mouth until she is sure he can't take anymore.
Fitz grabs her hair and pulls it into a ponytail in his hand, he didn't want it to block his view. He squeezed her hair tighter and pulled her head back so her eyes could meet his and she pouted. "Don't play with me Liv," He growled. She smiled and opened her mouth wider for him and he eased himself inside of her warmth. He watched himself disappear and reappear over and over again between her lips. Fuck. He wasn't sure how much longer he could last. She sped up her movements stopping every few seconds holding him at the back of her throat and humming, he was losing his mind.
She knew he was ready to cum, his grip had gotten so tight on her hair that she had tears prickling her eyes. She was ready to swallow every drop of him, she sped up and sucked him harder, his hips bucked and she smiled around him but before he emptied himself inside of her mouth she felt herself being lifted and carried to the bed.
"You promised." She whined as he undressed her. He took his time to remove her shirt and her necklace. He was so careful that she couldn't stop the ache she had inside for him.
When she was naked beneath him he crawled up her body kissing every piece of skin he passed. He ignored her complaints, she should have known by now that he wasn't going to cum in her mouth, it was rare that he ever did. He wanted to see her face when he came, he wanted to lose himself in her arms.
"Do you forgive me?" He kissed her deeply, the taste of himself on her tongue made his dick twitch. Her chest heaved when broke the kiss. "Do you?" He asked kissing her again before she could answer. He loved the way she melted into him, they blended perfectly. He rolled them over so that she was straddling his waist and pulled her down on his shaft as he sat up. They exhaled in unison, they were finally one.
Her legs were wrapped around his waist and he loved how close they were to each other. They kissed as she rode him slowly. Fitz knew this was one of her favorite positions and felt amazing to him too. She watched Fitz as she moved, as they kissed, his eyes locked with hers and it was the most sensual thing in the world. "I can't get enough of you." She breathed against his lips.
He gripped her hips tighter pulling closer to him, "Keep talking to me Livvie." He was so close and he wanted her to talk him to climax.
"You will always be my favorite person, my love.." She turns her head to meet his lips for another kiss, in between pecks she continues, "..my life, my everything." He moves his hand to her core and she drops her head to his shoulder as comes in his arms. His hips jerk upward as she squeezes his orgasm out of him, he cums hard and once again it is better than the last time.
They sit there until they've both come down from their high. Fitz lifts his head up from the headboard first and runs his hand up her back until he loses his hands in her hair massaging her scalp. Her breathing is slowing down, he can tell she is falling asleep, "Livvie, not yet, we have to shower first." He says as he shakes her slightly.
"I'm awake Fitz," She laughs and smiles. "I just love the way you feel."
"And I just love you." He declares returning her smile, her face turns serious and he wonders what he said wrong. "What?"
"Why do you do that?" She moves to get up and he lets her.
"Do what?" He watches her from the bed narrowing his eyes at her trying to see where she was going with this.
"Tell me you love me, when you want to but not when I say it and want to hear it back?"
"C'mon Livvie, that doesn't matter you know I love you." He hopped up and slapped her on the ass in passing to the bathroom.
She sighs, unsure if the point should be made now or she should let it go.
"Livvie, come in here and shower with me..please baby." Fitz yells over the running water.
Entering the bathroom, she grabs her robe and pulls it on. Her gaze moves to the shower glass where she sees Fitz is already under the water. Leaning against the sink, she is still not happy with his response. "Fitz, it matters." She says loud enough for him to hear. He slides the door open and she doesn't look at him, her arms are crossed across her chest defensively.
Fitz steps out of the shower dripping wet and stands in front of her, she wanted his attention she had it now. "I'm sorry, you're right. If it matters to you, then it means the world to me." He grabs her face careful not to wet her hair too much, he traces her lips with his thumb. "I love you beautiful, so much more than you know."
Her cheeks hurt from the smile she had on her face, if only he knew the effect he had. Sometimes she felt like he knew, other times she wasn't so sure. He ran the back of his index finger down her nose before curling it motioning for her to step inside the shower with him. She dropped her robe and quickly obliged.
It was a little after three in the afternoon, Fitz had made grilled steak and chicken fajitas with rice and beans for the family. He didn't want them to have to worry about anything when they arrived. He knew the day of traveling was probably a lot. He was putting the final touches on the meal at the same time Olivia entered the kitchen. Fitz had sent her away earlier because she was trying to pick at the food to get a taste before he completed the finished product.
Olivia had changed into a long black wool cashmere turtleneck that had silver sparkles throughout and grey tights. Fitz told her not to get too comfortable and to change into clothes that she could wear out because he plans for them later. She hated surprises but she couldn't wait to see what he had in store for them. She wrapped her arms around him from behind, "The food smells so delicious."
He turns in her arms looking her over before hugging her to him, "Is there anything that you don't look great in?"
Olivia giggles at his compliment and he walks her backwards into the counter picking her up and setting her on top of it. For a moment he just watches her, her hands are in his hair and although they have done this exact thing many times before, its different today. Maybe he is biased because he knows more than she does, he knows how the day ends. The sparkle in her eyes has him fixated, he can't break away from her gaze, afraid he might miss the moment. He knows she is expecting him to kiss her, and he wants to too, of course he does. But not now, the vibe was bigger than anything physical, she settles her arms around his neck and he can tell the mood has changed for her too.
"I don't know where I would be if you hadn't come back to me." She closes her eyes and he misses her instantly. Fitz leans his forehead against hers as he continues to speak. "It takes everything in me not mention it at every instance, during every quiet moment, really any chance I can.."
Here he goes again, she thought. He was giving her way more credit than she deserves, he would've been fine without her. She on the other hand didn't know what mess of unhappiness she was headed towards without him. The hurt she felt when they were apart was more than she had ever experienced, she should be thanking him for choosing her. For giving her another chance to get this right, to make up for not being there when he needed her. He was the one that everyone wanted a piece of, there were women, fans, media, and more that wanted his attention; that would give their all to have their moment with him. As time continued that was only going to get worse, she wasn't sure how she felt about that.
Olivia glances up at him, the anguish on her face hurt his heart; he hated it. Then a small smile tugs at her lips and all is right again. The moment sort of came together on its own, it wasn't what he had planned but he knew it was time.
"This isn't exactly how I planned to ask, and forgive me if it isn't the scene from the movies but I love you, I am so in love with you.." He searches her eyes for clues, that she had any inkling of what was coming next and she had none. He started to get cold feet, he needed to hear her voice, his palms are sweating when he encourages her, "Say it back Livvie."
Smiling she nods her head 'yes' up and down slowly as she showers him with her words, "I love you, I am completely in love with you too."
He reaches down into the pocket of his jeans, he looks back up at her nervously when his fingers come in contact with the little velvet box he had placed there.
"Livvie, I know that we are young-"
"It smells amazing in here Fitz-"
Olivia breaks their eye contact but her arms remain around Fitz's neck. She turns to the woman she recognized from their Facetime earlier in the week walking into the kitchen. She could feel Fitz's stare on the side of her face and she reluctantly looked back at him, she tilted her head to the side eyeing him suspiciously. What was going on, what was he going to ask her? She thought to herself.
Noticing the tension in the room, "I'm sorry, did I interrupt something?"
A/N: Do you think Fitz's new fame is going to be a problem for Olivia? What was Fitz going to ask? Is it too soon for Fitz to consider popping the question? Olivia is about to meet the family, will they like her? I hope you enjoyed this take, I had to stop it here because it was getting too long. Let me know your thoughts! Until next time..
