The Ice King froze in his tracks the moment Jake uttered Finns name and pushed the younger boy behind him he was shocked that much was clear by the opened mouthed expression he wore. Which instantly replaced the scowl on his face when he spoke with Jake, clearly he hadn't expected Jake to know who Finn was, nor did he expect to find Finn hanging out with him of all people.

Jake seemed confused by his actions, yet before either of them could say a word Finn had finally come out from behind him seeing no reason to stay there after all, he wasn't in danger and he had nothing to be afraid of and despite the fact he was still pretty confused about the situation the feeling of joy upon finally being reunited with his father seemed to override that.

He wasn't lost anymore and he didn't feel as frightened as he was before, now, finally he was reunited with his father just like he wanted and it was all because of his new friend Jake.

Without much of a warning Finn turned to the dog, wrapping his arms around him tightly. Jake let out a startled yelp as he looked down at the younger boy in surprise, " Thank you so much Jake! " Finn chimed cheerfully Jake could only stand dumbfounded at the sudden gesture, he looked at Finn for some kind of explication but only found the young boy smiling giddily as he let go of him.

The Ice King stayed quiet, hesitant to make a move as he watched how the two interacted not quite sure what to make of it.

Before Jake could even question Finns actions he started speaking once again. " You said you'd help me find my dad and you did! " It seemed to take a moment for the words to sink in, at first Jake laughed waving a hand as if dismissing the comment. " I must bee going death, it sounded like you said that creep was your father " Jake shook his head.

Finns raised a brow at the comment, " That's 'cause I did " Finn replied somewhat confused by Jakes disbelief. The moment Finn had confirmed this Jakes mouth hung open, a finger pointed in The Ice Kings direction " Finn, you can't be serious there's no way that creeps your father! I mean, c'mon he's -"

The Ice King huffed a little, clearly annoyed at being called a creep.

Jake however, didn't even have the chance to finish his sentence before Finn butt in, a rather annoyed expression on his face. " Hey! my fathers not a creep, he's the best! " he stated, crossing his arms over his chest, Jake seemed taken aback by the boys words, holding his hands up in defence as a worried expression crosses his features.

The dog seemed at loss for words, which was quite rare. " Finn - I, listen man I didn't mean to offend you but... " Jake trailed off, he didn't really know how to phase his words without upsetting Finn once again. The Ice King couldn't help but smile, feeling rather proud that Finn both acknowledged him as a father and defended him all in one sentence.

Finn simply smiled at Jakes response, he couldn't stay mad not when he felt so happy at the moment. The young boy turned to The Ice King and they both looked at each other, almost as if they were old friends meeting for the very first time, " U-Uh, hey... are you mad at me? " the anxious feeling returned once more when Finn finally spoke to his father.

The question seemed to surprise The Ice King, his brows furrowed together as if trying to decided a response until finally he spoke. " Mad? Why would I be mad? " at his reply Finn seemed to brighten up a little, " I just figured you would be 'cause I went off without you and then I got lost - oh! but it's okay because Jake found me b-but then - " The Ice King raised a hand and instantly Finn stopped in mid sentence.

Cautiously the boy approached him and this time Jake let him go forward, although he didn't seem very happy about it. The Ice King walked up to the boy and instead of the stern telling off Finn feared he was going to get, The Ice King reached down and ruffled his hair.

He was quiet for a moment, letting the moment sink in, " To tell you the truth, I was mad at first. I mean I had no idea where you were and that worried me but now - " The Ice King smiled down at Finn, who wore a guilty expression on his face, " Now, I'm just glad you're safe " The Ice King finished, removing his had from the boys head.

All the worry he previously felt was replaced with joy, The Ice King was no longer frantically searching for his lost son and he felt relived it would appear Finn felt the same as his cheery smile returned after those words, " Thanks dad " Finn replied softly, letting out a sigh of relief as he leans forward to hug the larger man.

Jake watched the scene before him in disbelief " That guys actually your dad? " Jake still didn't seem to believe it, even after all he witnesses he just didn't seem to comprehend that The Ice King of all people had a child " Yup that's right! " Finn replied with a nod of his head as he stood by The Ice King.

Jake approached the two unsure of how to deal with this, he couldn't deny it, especially since Finn confirmed it himself. As he approached The Ice King frowned slightly, Jake looked between the two before finally asking his question " So how exactly did this happen? " Jake questioned The Ice King as he gestured to Finn who was looking between the two grown-ups curiously.

Finn didnt look a thing like The Ice King, not even a little, Jake couldn't see how those two could be related in anyway at least not by blood.

The question seemed confused by the question at first, until finally he let out a laugh " Well, I could tell ya but it's a long story " He couldn't help but smile at the memory, thinking back to when he first found Finn " It's a long story " is what he finally said. He didn't really want to go into detail, after all he didn't want anybody knowing about Finn in the first place and the fact the Jake knew him and seemed to be on good terms with him both irritated and frightened him, which then prompted him to ask this question. " How'd you know Finn? " he asked.

Jake seemed to be in deep thought as he thought over the question and then he finally spoke. " It's a long story " he mimicked, with a careless shrug amused by The Ice Kings looks of displeasure, it was at that moment Finn spoke up.

" I like long stories! "

The boy chimed standing between the two, looking at both Jake and The Ice King as if expecting one of them to tell him a story. Both Ice King and Jake couldn't help but laugh at this and as soon as that laughter ended it became quiet, clearly neither Jake nor the Ice King knew what to say to each other and Finn was just happy being with his father and friend.

" Well, we better be going! " The Ice King exclaimed suddenly, cutting through the silence. Finn seemed disappointed but decided against speaking up, knowing he caused enough trouble already but before The Ice King could even make a move to leave with Finn, Jake Spoke up.

" Hey! if you're going with him then - then I'm coming with you! "
