A Brother's Promise

A/N: Presenting a brand new Sailor Moon crossover!

After the second chapter, the fic will pick up at the end of New Moon and will continue until the end of Breaking Dawn—each having my own special twist—and shall ignore the time skip between New Moon and Eclipse—and probably the time skip between Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. It will also feature the natural disaster that ultimately causes Crystal Tokyo—which I already have planned out.

Also, this fic will be mixing things from the Sailor Moon anime and manga together into one story—just a heads up if you've only seen/read one and not the other. It will also feature some of the dead characters from Sailor Moon being not so dead—meaning alive, not vampires if that's what ya'll were thinking.

Just a warning, some of the characters may come off a bit OOC—namely Emmett because of his relation to Serena and the Sailor Scouts for reasons that oughta be cleared up in chapter 2.

With that said, I'll shut up and let ya'll read.

Disclaimer: If I owned Sailor Moon and/or Twilight, would I be posting this fic on a FanFiction site?

Prologue: Before the Seal Breaks

From amongst the ruins of a destroyed civilization, a pillar of light materialized. The moment it appeared, a figured cloaked in light shot out of it. Despite all logic, the cloak remained on the figure as the person frantically looked around. Only when the pillar vanished after a few seconds did the cloak vanish to reveal the person.

Cloaked in the light had been a large man, looking to be about 20 and standing about 6'05" with a heavily muscled body. Despite being a full grown man, his slightly curly dark brown hair, the gold upturned crescent moon on his brow, and dimples made his face look a little like a child's though at the moment his handsome face was darkened with fear and worry. The man stood in white and silver armor with a matching cape and a promising looking sword.

As his deep, blue eyes frantically scanned the ruins for any sign of life, the man couldn't help but mentally kick himself. Though his sister was celebrating her 15th birthday, he had decided to slip away to Earth for a few hours so that he could get her the perfect gift—albeit it was last minute as well. When his mother had forbade him to leave the Moon, he had turned to his sister for help as she often snuck away to visit a prince from the blue world. As always, his sister was kind to a fault and had helped him to slip away after she made him swear to her that he would be back as soon as he could.

His gift to her had been a beautiful bouquet of snow white roses and an unusual object that looked like a glass orb filled with water and small silver paper that was mounted on a base that bore a small statue of rendering of Elysion. The merchant he bought it from called it a snow globe because when turned upside down and then right-side up, the paper made it look like it was snowing. The moment he saw the trinket, he knew that his sister would love it and just had to get it for her.

The gifts in hand, Emmett had been about to use his Teleport Key to teleport back home when something told him to look up at it. To his horror, he found the Moon surrounded by darkness. Throwing the gifts into his subspace pocket, he held up his key to return home only for nothing to happen. The darkness keeping him from returning home, he cursed openly as continued to try and fail. Only when a flash of light dispelled the darkness was he able to get the key to work. Looking around the Moon now, it was obvious that he was too late to fight, though he could still search for survivors.

"MOTHER!" the man cried out, searching the ruins. "SERENA!"

"Emmett," a weak voice called.

At the sound of the familiar voice, he found himself racing toward it. Within moments, he found himself falling to his knees at the sight he found.

Laying on a broken pillar was his mother, the Moon Queen Serenity. Though he looked more like his father, Emmett had inherited his deep, ocean blue eyes from his mother as well as her milky white skin. At the moment, his mother's eyes were filled with heartbroken tears while one hand was clenched on her stomach and the other hanging down with the Crescent Moon Wand clasped in it. Nearby stood his mother's feline advisors of the planet Mau: Luna and Artemis. Like him and his mother, the black and white cats bore the crescent mark on their foreheads.

Seeing her son, Queen Serenity let her tears fall as she whispered, "My baby boy, my Emmy."

Hearing his childhood nickname, Emmett found himself crying as well. "Mother, I am so, so sorry I wasn't here to help defend the Moon!" he said, begging for her forgiveness.

Smiling sadly, Queen Serenity shook her head. "I forgive you my dear—had you stayed, you would have met the same fate as the rest of our court," she murmured.

Emmett felt his heart break at those words. Though it didn't take a genius to guess what the fate of the court, he found himself praying to Selene that he was wrong. "Wh-what happened to them?"

"They are dead your highness," the black furred, Luna managed to choke out; her eyes filled with tears.

Shaking her head, Queen Serenity opened her hand to reveal a small, round silver crystal. "Not dead, trapped inside the Imperium Silver Crystal," she corrected.

His eyes locking onto the gem, Emmett felt himself being filled with hope. "C-can you free them?" His hopes were dashed when his mother shook her head.

"I can't free them without freeing the forces that attacked us," she told him. "If I do so, the forces of Negaverse will surely win since Serena doesn't have the power to wield the crystal in her state—nor do you have the power to fully use it."

Emmett nodded his head. The potential to wield the Silver Crystal was what determined who would be crowned ruler of the Moon Kingdom and the Silver Millennium. Though he was 5 years older, Emmett's ability to use the jewel paled in comparison to Serena's and it was for that reason that Serena replaced him as his mother's successor. Not the he minded—he absolutely hated the restrictions that came with being a royal and welcomed the chance to live a normal life one day.

Swallowing the sob threatening to tear itself from his throat, Emmett prepared himself for the worst. "Then what will you do?"

"I have just enough strength to send your sister, Darien, the scouts—everyone—to the future to be reborn on Earth," Queen Serenity said. "One day, they will remember what happened here and will return peace to the galaxy."

Though the words should have filled him with joy, the words filled Emmett with worry instead. "What about me? And Luna and Artemis?"

Offering her son a smile, Queen Serenity reached out to cup his cheek as best she could with her hands full. "I will send you into the future to be reborn as well, but you will have your memories of this time," she promised him. "It will be Luna and Artemis's jobs to find and reunite the scouts and prepare them for the challenges they will face."

"We promise," the two cats meowed.

"And me?" Emmett asked.

"I task you with the most important task," Queen Serenity said. "I cannot guarantee that you will be reborn into the same family, but I want you to find and protect your sister from all harm; like you did in this life."

Emmett nodded eagerly, he loved his sister dearly and would do anything for her. "I swear it on the Moon," he promised. "But who do I need to protect her from?"

"From the witch behind all this destruction, I sealed her away but the seal will only last so long—especially with the weapon she wields," Queen Serenity murmured, her voice growing weaker. "Before the seal breaks, you must find Serena or she will and all will be lost. Only together can you hope to defeat her."

Though he wanted to ask more, Emmett knew from her voice that his mother was fading—and fast. "How will I find her?" he asked, swallowing another sob.

"Pray to our home and to your ancestors, and you will find her," Queen Serenity said. "Whenever you are lost, pray to us and you will find your way."

A sob broke free from Emmett's throat before he could restrain it. Leaning forward he kissed his mother's cheek. "I'll pray every day," he promised.

Noticing his mother's eyes grow dim was all it took for Emmett to lose control. In the blink of an eye, he had his mother in his arms; hugging her close as his memories of her flashed before his eyes. Every happy moment, every hug, every kiss, every lesson, every laugh—they all flashed through his mind as he prepared himself for the inevitable, heartbreaking goodbye. Through his reminiscing, he was barely aware of his mother going limp in his arms as she enacted his spell. The memory of when his mother presented him with his newborn sister was the last memory to pass through his mind as he found his world growing dark.

"Goodbye, Emmett…I...love you," were the last words he heard his mother whisper before he knew no more.

A/N: So, what did ya'll think of the first chapter?

For those of you wondering about the polar opposite thing I mentioned in the summary, you'll learn what I meant by that in the 5th chapter of this fic.

By the way, how would ya'll feel if I made Molly the nonexistent Sailor Earth? I've been kicking around the idea to do so in one of my stories and since this one is in the early stages, it's not too late for me to do so—it's too late for me to make Molly Sailor Earth in Another Crystal Tokyo so it's either this fic or One Moon, One Destiny at this point—and I can't really see Bella as Sailor Earth since it doesn't seem right for some reason. If I do, the overall backstory for the Sailor Moon history of the fic will be the same but with an extra Sailor Scout. It's just a thought and if ya'll don't like it, I'll save that for another fic.

Let me know what ya'll think about both the fic and the Sailor Earth thing in a review!
