It seemed as though time had slowed as Giratina watched the scene unfold before him. He watched as the pokémon of the forest laid down beautifully colored flowers around Arceus' cold body, which was currently lying on a stone tablet. The pokémon of the waters had placed shells around his body, pokémon of the mountains placed gems and fossilized rocks around him, and the legendaries each had their own special gift to him.

From Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos, they each placed one of their feathers down. From Mew, she placed one of her favorite snacks -a pecha berry- down. From Ho-oh and Lugia, they also placed their own rainbow-colored and silver feathers down. From Entei, Raikou, and Suicune, they each placed down something pertaining to them: Entei with a molten rock, Raikou with a bush recently struck by lightning, and Suicune with a jar of water purified by her powers. From Celebi, she placed down an extinct, but gorgeous flower from a past time which she had visited. Latios and Latias put down beautiful, tropical flowers from the Southern Island, a place they visited quite often. Jirachi put down a small meteor, representing the beauty of the stars.

Finally, Dialga and Palkia approached. Dialga placed a well-cut diamond next to his father's head, while Palkia placed a perfectly round, pink pearl on the other side of Arceus' head. Mesprit and her sisters Azelf and Uxie put down things that represented their jobs that Arceus had given them long ago; Mesprit placed down a heart-shaped gem from the bottom of Lake Verity for her job of emotions, Azelf put down a jar of rainwater that had come from the violent storms, representing the willpower to keep going through the tough times, and Uxie put down an old, worn book, representing the importance of knowledge.

At last, it was Giratina's turn to put something down. He debated on what to give up, but he wasn't sure what that would be. The fact was, he didn't really have anything to give. However, he was saved by Luna, who got his attention by gently elbowing him.

"Here." She took off her black necklace, destinctively marked with a crescent.

"You... You can't possibly ask me to take this from you." He said.

"I have a million of them," Luna smiled, "Take it."

Giratina gently took the necklace into his mouth. Slowly, he approached the stone tablet that Arceus peacefully rested upon. He put the necklace on top of his brother's side where his golden bars had been unforgivenly ripped out. The wound had long since scabbed over and stopped bleeding, but it still looked painful.

The renegade backed up, allowing for a group of Lucarios to use their strength to pick up the stone tablet and carry it over to a hole that had recently been dug by Gibles and Gabites. The ground dragons helped the Lucarios put the tablet with Arceus still on it into the ground. After he had been securely placed into the hole, the Gibles and Gabites started to fill in the hole until it was flat earth again. A Geodude came and placed a headstone at the end of the disturbed dust, having what Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina wanted written on it.

Here lies the great Alpha Pokémon, Arceus, the father of all pokémon. May he be remembered forever as he rests in peace.

For a moment, the large group of pokémon stood there at Arceus' grave. One by one, they began to leave, until Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Luna, Celestia, Shaymin, and the six mares were the only ones left. They all stared at the headstone, unsure of what to do.

"What now?" Palkia asked the question they were all wondering.

Dialga looked down in confusion, "You heard father. It's up to us to run the universe. We'll call a meeting with the others of the legendary family and tell them our decision to deal with Arceus' passing."

The temporal pokémon and his spatial brother started to take to the sky. They saw Giratina still sitting there, staring at the headstone.

"Giratina," Dialga spoke, "Aren't you coming?"

Giratina sighed, "I'll be with you later."

Dialga and Palkia exchanged confused glances. They then left for the large mountain in the distance. Giratina sat there in silence with Luna, her sister, and their loyal followers. Though everything was set back to the way it was meant to be, though Discord's tyranny was no longer a threat, and though Giratina had saved the day and become a hero in the process, Arceus was dead; and it was Giratina's fault. Staring at the headstone, the renegade wondered if he could have prevented it from ever happening if he just hadn't trusted Discord in the first place.

"There's nothing you could have done," Luna said quietly, "He sacrificed himself to save us."

"But it's my fault he's dead!" Giratina cried, "If I just would have kept to my business, none of this would have ever happened!"

The great renegade was surprised when he felt a soft hoof on his large forepaw. He looked down, seeing Luna smiling up at him.

"But you never would have met me," She said, "And I never would have gone on this amazing adventure with you."

"You mean..." Giratina began, "You aren't mad at me?"

"Mad?" Luna laughed, "You just saved my world and your own from one of our biggest enemies! Why would I ever be mad?"

"I tricked you though," Giratina muttered, "And worked with that same enemy to get you."

Luna shook her head, "Yes, you did that. But what happens in the past doesn't matter. What matters is that you have righted your wrong. You have done just that. You saved both worlds from eternal chaos and unrest."

Giratina seemed to smile slightly, "Yes... I guess you are right..."

Celestia seemed to be getting anxious, "Luna, the Equestrians have been worried sick about you. We need to return home so they know you are okay."

Luna sighed, looking back at her sister, "I'm not going."

Celestia was shocked, "W-what?"

"I said, I'm not going," Luna repeated, "I admit, I have fallen in love with the renegade pokémon. Besides, since Giratina has the power to travel through dimensions, I can always just ask him to bring me back to Equestria."

Giratina smiled sheepishly, "It's true."

"But sister, Equestria needs you to raise the moon!" Celestia argued, "I nearly lost all of my power to raising and lowering the sun and moon!"

"My nephew Palkia can assist us in that," Giratina quickly replied, "He has the ability to distort space and bring other worlds close together. Luna can raise the moon with ease from within the pokémon world. And, if you like, I can ask Dialga to be on call to help you traverse to the pokémon world whenever you wish."

For a moment, Celestia's amethyst eyes stared into her sisters crystal-blue ones. Slowly, she nodded her head, "If that is what you wish, my sister."

Immediately, Luna attacked her elder sister with a hug around her neck, "Thank you, Celestia! I promise I will try to visit you every week!"

Celestia smiled. She then looked to Giratina, "Mr. Giratina, will you please do the honors?"

Since he knew the location of the pony world, Giratina immediately summoned up a portal that would take the ponies back to their world. Celestia gestured for the six mares to follow her. However, before they could step through the portal, Giratina stopped them. He turned to the Element bearers with a smile on his face.

"I just wanted to say... Thank you," The great basilisk said, "For giving me the strength to defeat Discord and save what mattered most to me. And, of course, teaching me the importance of unity land harmony with others."

The purple unicorn, Twilight Sparkle, stepped foward, "You're always welcome."

"We love helping people and defeating a meanie pants like Discord!" Pinkie cheered.

"No prob!" Rainbow added.

"All in a days work!" Applejack yelled.

"We needed to teach that ruffian a lesson anyway!" Rarity complained.

"Um...squee!" Fluttershy whimpered.

The ponies and their princess soon jumped through the portal. The portal quickly shrunk and disappeared, leaving Giratina and Luna on their own.

"Heeeey, Tina!" Shaymin appeared out of nowhere and jumped on Giratina's tail, "What are we gonna do now?"

The great renegade and the alicorn both glared at the gratitude pokémon.

"Oh, pff!" Shaymin laughed, "I see what you're trying to do! Alright, I'll leave you two lovebirds alone!" She quickly toddled off into the bushes, finally leaving the two alone.

Feeling awkward about towering over Luna, Giratina quickly used his powers to shrink down to where he was only a foot taller than the alicorn, "I suppose Shaynim has a point. What shall we do now?"

Luna seemed to ponder for a moment, "Well... How about we try a kiss?"

Giratina suddenly began sweating, "K-k-kiss?"

Luna snickered, "You're not afraid to kiss me, are you?"

Giratina quickly shook his head "N-no! Not in the least! It's just that... I've never kissed a girl before..."

"Then let this be your first time." Luna said. She yanked Giratina gently by his golden rib-bones and pulled him into a kiss. Their lips met, and Giratina's intense sweating became enough to fill tubs. However, he soon began to relax and not resist the kiss. It was then and there he knew that Luna was the one for him. They pulled away, upsetting Giratina a little.

"There," Luna giggled, "That wasn't so bad, now was it?"

Giratina was too dumbfounded to speak.

Luna laughed, "Come on, you big doofus. You have an important meeting with your estranged family!"

"Oh, right." Giratina chuckled nervously. He grew back to full size, allowing Luna to board his back. Just before he took off, a voice squealed in terror.

"WAIT FOR MEEEEEEE!"

Shaymin jumped on board, holding on to Luna.

Giratina rolled his eyes, "You just can't stay away from us, can you?"

Shaymin giggled, "Of course not. We're best friends!"

Though he was reluctant, Giratina took to the sky with the alicorn and the hedgehog riding on his back. For the first time in many millennia, Giratina felt happy and carefree. He didn't have to worry about betraying anyone now that he had someone... Er, two someones to call his own. Discord was out of the picture, most likely long gone, if not dead. Though the pain of losing his brother still burned in Giratina's heart, he knew his brother had purposely sacrificed himself so that Giratina would be happy.

And by that same alpha pokémon, Giratina was currently the happiest pokémon alive.

And that concludes the story. I hope you enjoyed this, because I plan to make a sequel entitled "To the Moon and Back II: Steal the Sun" (title subject to change). Thanks to all those who favorited, followed, and reviewed my simple little story. You encouraged me to keep writing, even through my procrastination and no-motivation spells. Thanks! I hope to see more fics with Giratina and Luna in the near future!

Until next time...
