A/N: Story is going to change from here. I won't be following Vampire Diaries plotline anymore, because I think I want to take it from here. I am sorry if you had been expecting a Vampire Diaries reboot with a female Harry, but that can't happen. If Harry is here, so would the wizarding world and her problems are bigger and scarier than VD. It's going to be a lot more wizarding world centric now.

Chapter 14: Unpleasantville

"What are you doing here?" Heather asked, crossing her arms in front of her chest. "And why aren't you wearing your wedding ring?"

"I couldn't go through it," Draco said, almost tears in his eyes.

"What- what do you mean?" Heather asked, loosening up a little bit.

"You are aware of the fact that I do not have any feelings for Astoria Greengrass," Draco said.

"If I remember correctly, the words were "worthy of me"," Damon interrupted in between.

"What are you getting in the middle of this for?" Heather turned to Damon. "Keep your unnecessarily long nose out of other people's business."

"Heather, please," Draco said.

"Please what?" she asked. "Why are you here? To tell me you love me?"

"I am here on two accounts. I bring a message from the minister of magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt and for a personal reason. Yes, I have come to tell you that I love you but more importantly, at least seven death eaters have escaped and they are all looking for you."

"What do you mean at least?" Heather asked, worried.

"And why wasn't this in the papers?" Fred asked.

"We have been getting it delivered," George said.

"They are trying to keep it under cover," Draco replied. "It was a messy affair, two aurors are seriously injured. You know how powerful the supporters of the Dark Lord were."

"How come you still call him the "Dark Lord"?" Heather asked. "Why can't you call him Voldemort just like the rest of us?"

"Oh, I am not the brave one here," Draco replied. "I was a proud Slytherin. However, that's beside the point. Point is, I haven't come here just like that. I have come here to protect you."

"Protect me? Me? I am the Girl who lived, Draco, in case you've forgotten. I defeated Voldemort, I think I can do my own protection," Heather said scathingly, forgetting that she had not told Damon anything about her past.

"What is the Girl Who Lived?" he asked, curiously.

"Oh shit," Heather muttered. "Shouldn't have talked about this. Let me take care of it." She whipped her wand out to obliviate Damon. He saw the wand.

"What the hell? You want to wipe away my memories? What for, exactly? I thought it would be a pain off your chest if you could just tell us your story," he said.

"That story is for later," George told him. "We have bigger fish to fry. Who all are on the loose?"

"Rodolphus Lestrange," Draco began. "Fenrir Greyback. Pius Thicknesse. Rabastan Lestrange. Avery. Mulciber."

"You missed a name," Heather pointed out.

"It's someone who wasn't on the dark side before and has joined now," Draco said, uncomfortably.

"Who?" Fred asked, curiously.

"Who would be stupid enough to join the losing side?" Heather asked.

"Someone who has nothing to lose," Damon said.

"Insightful. So, who is it?" Heather asked.

"Dolores Umbridge," Draco said, now visibly uncomfortable.

"Oh, I don't know if she was ever on the side of the light," George remarked.

"She was a nightmare," Fred added.

"Well, they have escaped. So what?" Heather asked.

"You don't understand. They are coming after you," Draco said.

"Let me get this straight," Elena said. "You had a prophecy after which you killed an evil dark lord."

Elena, Stefan, Damon, Bonnie, Fred, George and Draco were sitting with Heather in her living room, discussing her past and present events.

"Well, yes," Heather said. "Sort of."

"See, the prophecy pointed to two people and Voldemort was free to choose one person," Fred explained.

"He chose Heather, instead of choosing Neville," George finished.

"While we are on the matter, what is the girl who lived?" Damon asked.

"There are three unforgivable curses," Heather began, uncomfortably. "The use of even one of them on a fellow human being is punishable with a lifetime in Azkaban." She shuddered visibly.

"It's a horrible place, Azkaban," Fred said.

"Wizard prison," George interjected.

"Guarded by dementors," Draco said.

"What are dementoids?" Elena asked.

"De-men-tors," Heather clarified. "They are beings only visible to the magical but their presence can be felt by everyone. They force you to live your most horrible memories when they come close to you. They survive by sucking all happiness out of you. And their kiss…." She trailed off.

"What about the kiss?" Bonnie asked, quite scared at the prospect of a dementor.

"It is subjected only on the worst of worst cases. A dementor's kiss means it sucks your soul right out of your body," Fred said and at this, all the wizards and the single witch looked quite uncomfortable.

"So you die without your soul?" Damon asked.

"You can exist without your soul, you know, as long as your brain and heart are still working. But you'll have no sense of self anymore, no memory, no...anything. There's no chance at all of recovery. You'll just — exist. As an empty shell. And your soul is gone forever... lost," Heather said, remembering the exact words of Professor Lupin. Everybody in the room winced visibly.

"So, is there no way to defeat them?" Stefan asked.

"There is. It is a spell," Draco said. "Extremely difficult. A person needs to be very concentrated and focussed on their happy thoughts."

"It helps in producing a guardian of happy memories. The only way to repel a dementor is through happiness. The sad part is that the spell is extremely difficult and not everyone can perform it," George explained.

"A patronus is produced, which has a full shape of an animal which will repel the dementors. Sadly, not even fully-grown wizards and witches are able to produce a corporeal patronus," Fred added.

"What is the Girl who Lived?" Damon asked. "We are digressing."

"Well, the three unforgivable curses are the imperius curse which can control another human being. Everything you wish to do can be done through that human being. The second curse is the cruciatus curse or the torture curse. It is used to torture people. The pain is intense. I cannot describe it. It seems like there exists nothing in the world but pain. And the third is the Avada Kedavra. The Killing Curse. Nobody has ever escaped from that curse. Nobody lives if the curse touches them," Draco said. "Nobody has ever lived. Except Heather. That is why the wizarding world hails her as the girl who lived."

Stefan, Bonnie, Elena and Damon looked at Heather in awe.

"No, no. There is nothing that is great about me. My mother was given a chance to save herself if she gave me up to Voldemort. She declined. She sacrificed herself. That created a powerful force which made the curse rebound on Voldemort when he cast it," Heather said. "You might underestimate it, but love is the most powerful feeling in the entire world. My headmaster had always told me: Do not pity the dead, Heather. Pity the living and above all, those who live without love. Voldemort always underestimated this power. He was born under a love potion. He never knew love."

"Even the most dark wizard in the history of mankind could not stand in front of the power of love," Fred said.

"This is fascinating. So, what happens if they send dementors after you, Heather?" Elena asked. Heather looked at her with a smirk, fished her wand out. She closed her eyes, and concentrated on the memory of her flying on her Firebolt, the exhilarating feeling. She could feel the adrenaline pumping through her body.

"Expecto Patronum!" she said with a radiant smile and a stag burst out at the end of her wand, circled around the room and galloped towards her. She looked at it fondly, and the others looked at it with awe.

"You know the spell!" Stefan said, almost dazed.

"I could do it since the age of fifteen," Heather said proudly.

"She taught us all," Fred and George said together. They looked at each other.

"Don't copy me," they said together again. Heather rolled her eyes. She knew what was going to happen.

"Guys, don't," she admonished slightly. She knew they were not going to listen.

"There is a bigger problem in our midst," Draco said.

"Yours and mine," Elena said.

"What do you mean?" Heather asked, puzzled.

"Well, there is this vampire who has been invited in and wants to do nothing more than kill me," she said uncomfortably.

"How did he get invited?" Fred asked.

"He posed as the pizza delivery guy," Bonnie filled them.

"He gets points for that," Heather said. "But, we can protect you. I'll take your place and you will be here."

"What? How?" Elena asked. Heather gave a very charming smirk to Fred and George. "Polyjuice potion, boys?"

"We don't have, but Draco might be a help in brewing one. He was good at potions," George said. Heather turned to Draco.

"Only if I can stay with you till the fugitives are dealt with," he said, arms crossed.

"Fine," Heather said. "I was not going to throw you out anyway. If anything, it is good to have support." What she left unsaid was that she was very happy to see him there, and was hoping to see if there was something left between the two of them.

"Who is this vampire?" Draco asked. "And why should you put yourself in danger?"

"Oh God. After all I have been through, you think a silly vampire is the problem," Heather rolled her eyes. Damon had gone unnaturally silent. He couldn't figure out why he was feeling sad.

"We will take care of him," Heather told Elena. "I will go to your house as you."

"How?" she asked.

"Hand me a piece of your hair," Heather said, and took a vial from Draco. She put that hair in the potion and drank it. After two minutes, there was another Elena in the room.

The muggles couldn't believe their eyes.

"To work now," Heather said. "And shut your mouths. Mosquitoes will get in."

Review please! Update came in before time too! Next one will take a month, since I have to start preparing for a moot court. :)
