Well, here it is, the very last chapter. I hope you've enjoyed it and will leave a review if you feel so inclined. Again, I don't own Narnia, but I'd like to hear what you think about my imagined adventures that happen there. Cheers!

Epilogue

The reign of King Caspian X lasted six more years. Though longer than she dared dream she would have with him, as she sat by his bedside, Susan could not help but feel like it was simply not long enough. Leaning forward, she pressed a kiss to his lips, and her husband gave her a weary smile.

"I love you, my beloved king," she whispered.

"And I love you, my beloved queen."

There was a knock at the door, and a blonde head appeared. "Aunt Susan? You sent for me?"

"Yes, Liam," she said, reaching a hand out toward him. She tried to smile, but he saw through it. Not a boy anymore, but a young man, Liam knew his uncle was dying. Taking a deep breath, he stepped fully into the familiar room and crossed to the large bed. It was a path he'd walked many times before. Whenever he was ill, had a nightmare, or had been scared by a storm, he would race down the hall to this room, knowing in that bed he would find safety and love. More love than he could ever remember feeling in his entire life. His heart was heavy as he traveled that familiar path now.

"Liam," Caspian whispered, his smile warming the young man's heart.

"I'm here, Uncle," he said, kneeling beside the bed.

"It's your turn now," he said softly, and Liam felt the first of many tears slide down his cheek. He shook his head and stared at Caspian's hand held tightly in Susan's.

"Liam," Caspian urged, and he dragged his gaze back to the weary king's. "Don't be afraid. This is your destiny, just as it was mine to end the reign of the Telmars and return Narnia to her rightful king."

Liam shook his head. "I'm not ready. Please, Uncle, there's so much left for me to learn."

"I was hardly older than you are now when I took the throne, and I was far less prepared than you are. You've stood in for me many times in council meetings and foreign affairs."

More tears trailed down Liam's cheeks. "But I can't do it alone." He felt Susan place a gentle hand on his shoulder and he bowed his head.

"Liam, my son, you will never be alone. Aslan will always be with you, and so will I," Caspian promised, and a sob escaped Liam's throat. "You've given me more joy than I ever imagined. You may not be my son by blood, but in my heart, that is what you have always been, and what you will always be."

Liam wrapped his arms around Caspian and buried his face in his shoulder, feeling very much like the lost little boy he'd been six years ago. "I love you, Father."

Caspian pressed a kiss to his golden head. "And I you, Beloved."

High Queen Susan the Gentle watched through misty eyes as the crown Caspian wore was placed on Liam's head. She wished with all her heart Caspian could be beside her now, but she felt his presence still. A warm feeling of being complete filled her heart as she watched Liam stand, preparing to be announced as King of Narnia.

It was then the door to the throne room opened, Aslan himself on the other side. Everyone fell to the knees, but none faster than the newly crowned king. On silent paws, Aslan made his way to the head of the room, pausing to give Susan a smile before stopping just before Liam. "Your journey has been long, Liam. You were born of Narnia, and so you have returned. With the blood of High King Peter in your veins, the sacrifice of your mother, Queen Annalise, and the gentle and strong guidance of High Queen Susan and King Caspian, at long last, today you take your rightful place. Rise, King William the Promised. Narnia has long awaited your reign."
