Secrets in the Shadows
Authors Note: SORRY, I'm so sorry for the wait in updating this. This was just a hard chapter to get out. Anyway, apparently both Sir Roger Moore and Daniel Craig have been on the set of Star Wars Episode VII: Salvation of the Franchise, or as I want to call it, Episode VII: Mara Jade is BACK! Ah, one can dream can't he? Okay enough of my babbling get on with the reading.
Disclaimer:As always, I DO NOT own RWBY that belongs to Monty Oum, and all the people at RT. Nor do I own any of the characters, again they belong to RT, and such is life.
Cinder just looked at Adam as she heard the Faunus close the door, letting team CFVY go back to Beacon, and couldn't seem to get the smell out of her nose. She heard Mercury and Emerald try to hold in their lunches from the smell that was currently assaulting their noses. And the sick bastard in front of her just smiled as it all happened. She turned her head to look at Roman and Neo who had small smirks on their faces and made it a point to glare at them.
"Now now dear Cinder, were all equal in this little venture aren't we?" Adam asked, gaining a glare in return. "Now, that being said, I want an explanation from you as to why you've been treating MY White Fang as…how should I put it…" Then his lips curled into a small sneer, "dogs?" Before she could even turn her head to stop him Mercury opened his mouth. "Well what make you think this is an equal venture, Cinder brought us all…" he was silenced as Adam appeared right in front of him, and had his blade out, pressing right into his neck.
Adam was enjoying this, letting Cinder know that neither she nor her "men" were as untouchable as they thought, it made his heart race as he sensed the fear and determination from this one named Mercury. "We're equal because we NEED to be young one, we need to work together to complete our plans." As he pressed the blade a little farther into Mercury's neck his sneer turned to a smirk. "Just remember this, me and my Faunus that you so calmly use as dogs, have enough power to wipe you're pathetic existence off the face Vale." As he dropped his blade from Mercury's neck, he turned his head towards Cinder again.
"Was that absolutely necessary?" Cinder asked with a scowl on her face as Adam sat down in his seat again. As he did so Roman also took a seat off to the side between them, arms crossed and a smile on his face. "Now now both of you, save it for the enemy, who no doubt are STILL searching for clues as to us." As he moved his hands around, Roman took a moment to take in a deep breath, forgetting the smell of burnt skin for a little bit. As he opened his eyes his fingers were pointed at the two, ignoring Neo massaging his shoulders a little bit.
"You Cinder and the kids, you three are firmly placed in Beacon yes?" At Cinder's narrowed eyes moved that hand back in a placating gesture, "And you Adam, you have one of the largest armies, and most capable warriors ready at you're beck and call." Adam just shook his head, getting impatient with this. "And me and Neo, heh, we know the most about their abilities in TRUE combat, and I have the connections in the governments to get us WHATEVER we need." Standing up he turned his back to the other two, arms wide again, "We are ready to take this world by storm, all we need is patience and understanding with one another, and our triumvirate will last long after our enemies will."
Yang caught up with Ruby at the top of the dorms, staring out into the night, shoulders shaking just a bit. She didn't say anything she just wrapped her arms around her younger sister and let some of her warmth wrap around both of them for the time being. She felt another pair of arms join in and immediately thought it was Weiss, before she saw the arm covered in that damn hoodie. Turning her narrowed eyes onto Jaune Yang looked at him before rolling her eyes, and nodding letting him know it was fine.
"Were here for ya Rubes." Was all Yang had to say before Ruby nodded and returned the hug to both of them. Taking a deep breath Ruby pulled out of the embrace and closed her eyes, before exhaling and looking at Yang and Jaune. "And just WHERE have you two BEEN?" Ruby yelled at the two, her eyes looking close to a mirror image of Yang's red eyes. At that both Yang and Jaune quickly looked at each other, and while Yang held it in, Ruby could EASILY see the fear on Jaune's face, but why?...NO! "Jaune…" Ruby said her voice turning into a sweet tone that promised anything but sunshine and rainbows as she pulled out her sythfle. "Run."
Pyrrah pulled off from her kiss with Blake, and watched the young cat-Faunus process what had just happened, and then process who it had happened with. But Pyrrah didn't have to wait long as she felt herself get quickly turned over by arms as strong as a vice grip. The girl didn't say anything, so Pyrrah didn't either, she just watched as Blake searched her eyes for any evidence of deceit, there was none. Satisfied Blake got up, and looked out the window, obviously in thought about everything that was going on.
"Umm, Pyrrah, I think we might need to save Jaune…" She felt Pyrrah come up next to her as she pointed to the blonde knight being chased by the red and black hooded blur known as Ruby Rose. They turned their heads towards each other, both of them wide eyed, but with smile on their faces. "RUBY I SWARE TO OUM IF YOU HURT HIM!" They heard Yang yell, and turned back in time to see the yellow girl chasing after her sister, eyes glowing red. Shaking her head Blake grabbed Pyrrah's hand and pulled the Spartan out of the room.
As she finally figured out what to say to fix what she'd obviously broken, Weiss nodded her head and patted her hands on her dress. Grabbing her book bag, Weiss made sure everything was okay in it, she did drop it kind of hard on the ground. After making sure all her items and books were in good order Weiss stood up, and turned to walk to the dorms.
"WATCH OUT!" she felt the body slam into her chest, and felt all her breath leave her, along with her last shred of dignity. Her eyes swirled for a second, before she caught sight of what, or WHO ran into her. "JAUNE! HOW DARE YOU!" Weiss yelled, but her tirade was cut short by a silver red and black weapon landing in such a way that the knight couldn't move aside from having his head sliced off. She turned her head to see a furious Ruby stomping towards them, probably tunnel-vision on said hapless knight.
Before anything was said, the red haired girl gripped the scyfle, and put a little bit of pressure down, before a speeding yellow blur hit her from behind, knocking the hooded menace a few feet away, the weapon thankfully going with her. Weiss looked up to see Yang staring her now risen sister, both with anger written on their faces, and Weiss slowly got up, and moved next to the knight.
"Jaune," she said in a very calm voice, "what did you do." When she didn't get an answer she slowly turned her head to look at the blonde, and saw fear in his eyes. "What did you do to piss Ruby off?" Jaune turned his head and she could see everything replaying in his mind, his entire life. "M…me and Y-Yang w-w-we…" when he stopped Weiss connected the dots. "YOU AND YANG DID WHAT!" she yelled, and before she knew it, a tangle of red/black and brown/yellow were inches from them.
Blake and the rest of team JNPR arrived to find a shocked and slightly annoyed Weiss,, staring openly at a fearful Jaune, while Yang was holding her sister back from trying to dismember the blonde knight. Blake walked up very slowly, sensing the anger from her team leader, and the muttering about various appendages floated to her ears. She stopped next to the still open mouthed heiress and the knight who looked like he was expecting death at any moment.
"Umm…what's going on?" she asked, and Weiss closed her mouth very slowly, and turned her head while licking her lips a little. "Ruby…" Blake nodded and rolled her hand in a motion when she stopped, "Yang and Jaune…" she stopped again, confusing the Faunus. "Yes we know Yang and Jaune are dating, what about it?" she asked still wondering what the problem was between them. "JAUNE DID NASTY THINGS TO YANG AND MUST PAY!" Ruby shouted in an almost demonic voice, and Blake's mind crashed as she whipped her head to look between her friends. "Well MAYBE I did nasty things to HIM! Either way, we were both consenting, and legal." Yang said, her eyes going back from red.
With a final shove Yang pushed Ruby away, before looking at her, her face blank. "Rubes I'm grown up, and so is Jaune, were both 18, and we made a choice." Giving her still seething sister a look she turned her back and walked over to Jaune and hugged him, trying to keep him from hyperventilating. "But Yang, dad said…" Ruby's protest was killed with a look from her older sister. "I know what dad said, but guess what he's not here, and it doesn't matter anyway, most of those rules were only for you." Turning her head towards Weiss Yang motioned for the girl to go over to Ruby, which she did her touch instantly calming the hooded girl. "Come talk with us when you're not trying to kill my boyfriend." Yang said, and walked off with Jaune, her arms around the knight's shoulder.
"I can't believe them!" Ruby yelled, her gaze still on the two departing figures, before her hood was pulled down over her head. She glared at the snow princess, "And what do YOU make of all this?" Clearly she caught the girl off guard, but Weiss recovered quickly. "I think…whatever makes them happy…is good, I guess." she responded, and felt the gaze boar into her skull as she turned her head. "Ruby…" they heard from a hereto silent Blake, "Calm down and think it out, I mean, what would you feel if you and Weiss started dating and…" she gulped, her eyes quickly shifting over to Pyrrah for a second. "Started doing…stuff…how would you feel if Yang acted like you are now." As she said this she noticed both girls immediately sweat drop, and her mouth opened in shock. "YOU TWO DIDN'T!" she breathed out, and the two went red faced from the accusation.
"NO! We just admitted we liked each other, and were going to start trying things out!" Ruby got out in a rush, before her mind caught up with her words, and she quickly pulled away from Weiss. "Un…unless you changed your mind?" she asked, and the White haired girl just stood dumbly for a second. Weiss's mind caught up with her as Ruby started turning her head, and she grabbed the younger girls arm and took a deep breath while closing her eyes. Opening them she looked back into the guarded and hurt eyes of Ruby Rose before, "You dunce…" smiling she pulled her into a hug, "MY dunce."
Blake felt the eyes of the rest of team JNPR on them, so she turned around to find smiling face, well more like Ren dragging a jumping Nora away, while Pyrrah looked at them all, a small smile on her face. Pyrrah then looked at Blake and mouthed a 'later' to her, before giving a smile and a wink, and turning to help Ren. "Alright guys, I think that's enough for today." She said as she picked the pink haired girl up, and walked away.
Yang and Jaune were sitting on a bench, Yang actually looking embarrassed, even though she knew what the reaction would be, she still hadn't expected it. Turning her head towards Jaune, she closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, thinking of something to say to not hurt him. She was startled when Jaune's hand grabbed hers, and for a second she could still feel the electricity from the touch, and she knew he did too when his skin started to goose bump. She saw him blink a few times, before he let out a saggy breath, and he turned his head.
"Well, I never thought she'd stop, I was worried I'd have to bust some moves." He said, and Yang couldn't help it. She supposed it was the look on his face, along with the tension, but once he spoke it was like a band snapped, and she couldn't stop laughing. After calming down Yang leaned into him and put her head on his shoulder while looking at the sky, which was showing a nice burnt orange, mixed with a little light greenish-blue and a few white clouds in the distance as the sun set on a long day. "Promise me you'll help me with your dad and uncle." He said, and she closed her eyes a smile on her face. "Nah, you're one 'Yang Defense against her crazy family' card has been redeemed." At his scoff she let out a little laugh before looking up into his eyes, and grabbing his lips in a kiss, both of them smiling.
Ozpin and Goodwitch watched the two kissing in front of the sunset with varying degrees of emotions. Obviously Ozpin had a small smirk on his face, when one could see past the rim of his coffee mug. While Ozpin was watching the two with slight approval, and happiness, Glynda was not. In fact one could say that if she had it her way this never would've happened in the first place.
"Professor Ozpin, relations between students only mess things up, just look at what almost happened earlier!" She rolled her eyes as Ozpin just glanced in her direction before he turned his head to look behind them at some storm clouds coming towards Beacon in the night. "First off, they're kids, more over they ARE legal adults now, and we can only control them so much." Taking a sip of his mug he turned his head to look at her disapproving face, he knew she'd never outright challenge him, but she DID let her opinion be known. "Besides Glynda, a storm's coming and they'll need any chance at happiness they can find…" he watched her roll her eyes before he looked at the two young lovers. "Besides, all you've ever wanted for her is to be happy," he felt her gaze snap right to his face, "or am I mistaken."
