AN: Most likely this will be the last chapter. yay happy endings!

Two years later Allen was working on his new book series in his office at the house while Kanda was at work moving from acting to doing just voice overs for games and such so he didn't have to travel around as much but still make decent money. Allen's new book series that was a spin off from the samurai one was selling even better than the original mostly because everyone liked that the samurai found love and was living peacefully. As Allen was working his phone went off which Allen answered without looking. The call had Allen in tears by the time it was over.

"Moyashi? What's up?" Kanda asked when he answered the call from Allen. He was a little worried at first since it was clear Allen was in tears.

"We finally got approved Yu..." Allen answered with a sob trying to wipe away the tears. He was so happy since they had ended up applying to adopt a young girl only six months after agreeing to wait a year. In the end it took a year and a half to finally get approved so they hadn't really broken the deal between themselves. Kanda was silent for a moment since he was trying to figure out if he was actually awake or not.

"I'll be home in twenty minutes." Kanda said before hanging up leaving work right away. When Kanda walked in the door Allen threw himself at Kanda crying happily. They had thought they lost their chance to adopt this five year old girl they had met at an orphanage. Her name was Soraya, she had long dark brown hair and bright green eyes. Her parents had died in a car accident a two years ago leaving her completely alone as she had no other family.

Once everything was fully complete Allen and Kanda went to the orphanage where Soraya was living at. It was the same one they had met her at a year and a half ago. She seemed rather sad as she sat out in the yard under a tree while other children played. The nun running the orphanage informed the couple that the other couple who almost adopted her had changed their mind as they had finally managed to get pregnant with their own child and didn't want to adopt Soraya anymore. As the nun worked on packing Soraya's clothing and toys Kanda and Allen went outside to talk to Soraya.

"Hi Soraya... Do you remember us?" Allen asked as he knelt down to be eye level with the young girl. Slowly Soraya looked up at Allen looking so sad and lost.

"Yes..." Soraya replied softly not getting her hopes up. Even though it had been over a year since she had seen Allen and Kanda it was hard to forget them since they had been so nice but hadn't promised to adopt her but asked if they could try.

"I'm sorry it took so long... but if you still want to... you can come home with us." Allen offered holding out his hand to her. She stared at Allen's hand before slowly she reached out taking his hand. With a smile Allen stood up helping Soraya to her feet. Still holding Soraya's hand Allen led her back inside so they could get her stuff and so everyone could say goodbye to her before Allen and Kanda took her home.

Poor Kanda was struggling with the booster seat questioning why it didn't come with instructions. In the end Soraya showed Kanda how to buckle her in since she was used to the booster seat while the new parents weren't.

"Sorry Soraya... you're our first child... clearly... so bare with us as we learn..." Allen said as they were in the car on their way home.

"Thank you..." She said softly since she had really thought that she would be living in the orphanage until she was an adult. All older children in orphanages knew that most people wanted younger, more baby like, children rather than older ones.

"Oh... no... Soraya... Thank you for accepting us... Now... this is Yu and I'm Allen... in case you forgot our names... We won't ask you to call us... dad and dad...? That sort of thing is your own choice. When you meet my dad you'll see I typically call him by his first name... Yu calls his dad... pretty much anything other than dad usually..." Allen commented. He never planned to make Soraya call them by any sort of parent title since she had lived with her birth parents until she was three.

"Okay..." Soraya replied before looking out the window watching the scenery pass by. When they made it home Kanda carried Soraya's suitcase while Allen led Soraya inside the house. Allen showed her around the house letting her know that she could pretty much go anywhere she wanted but should knock before going into his and Kanda's room which they would do the same for her. There weren't really any rules, just that she should be careful. It wasn't like there was much she could get into or break so they weren't worried about that. They just didn't want her to somehow get hurt. Well there was the rule of if she wanted to play it was to be in the back yard which was fenced in and so far only grass. They hadn't gotten anything set up outside for a child since they didn't want to buy all the stuff and keep getting denied and have that reminder in the back yard.

"So this is the room you want?" Allen asked when Soraya picked one of the two guest rooms to be her room.

"Yes..." Soraya answered hugging a stuffed animal tightly.

"Okay. So this is your room then. After lunch we can go pick out new bedding and furniture and everything okay?" Allen offered with a smile. The room wasn't designed for a child and Soraya was old enough to decide how she wanted her room so to make her feel more at home they wanted her to pick what all went into the room.

The family spent the next week or so getting to know each other and set up Soraya's room how she wanted it to make her feel more welcome. Allen and Kanda had absolutely no regrets in adopting Soraya. She was the perfect child who was so sweet and loving. They had also set up a swing set outside for her to play with and a sand box with a cover. Allen considered a pool but it was winter and he wasn't ready for a drowning hazard yet.

"So... Soraya... are you okay with meeting the rest of our family?" Allen asked one night as he was brushing out her hair after a bath and she was in her pajamas.

"Mm... yes..." Soraya answered after some thought.

"Okay... so they will be coming over on Sunday then... if you get uncomfortable just say so okay? No one will get mad if you get uncomfortable. Just so you know ahead of time... Yu's dad might hug you and be all blubbery... if you don't like it say so." Allen instructed as the last thing he wanted was for Soraya to feel super uncomfortable as she was rather shy and this wasn't her family she was used to.

"What about your dad?" Soraya asked turning to face Allen.

"Well... my dad... he isn't good at showing emotions... he isn't very huggy either. In truth from what I recall... he is rather... awkward around kids... So he might just avoid you a little. Don't take it personally its just how he is. He doesn't know how to interact with kids. But he might be willing to play outside with you on the swing set. That's what he did with me." Allen replied as he picked Soraya up placing her into her bed tucking her in. "Now... do you want me or Yu to read you a story... huh that's a play on words." Allen chuckled softly.

"Dad..." Soraya said pointing to Kanda who was standing in the doorway leaning against it. Allen and Kanda exchanged a happy hopeful look before Kanda waled over to the bed side.

"What do you want me to read tonight?" Kanda asked letting her pick out a book before he started reading. When Kanda finished the children's book he tucked her in again tucking her hair behind her ear before Allen leaned down placing a kiss on Soraya's forehead.

"Goodnight dad...daddy..." Soraya said as Kanda and Allen were getting ready to leave the room.

"Good night precious." Allen said as Kanda muttered a goodnight as well. After leaving the room mostly closing the door Allen and Kanda stood in the hall for a moment before they hugged tightly.

"She call us dad and daddy..." Allen practically squeaked in joy hugging Kanda again when they were in their room. The fact that Soraya seemed to be accepting them as her new parents made the couple so happy.

"So... how come we had to skip family lunch last week?" Tiedoll asked as they were all in the kitchen working on making food together. Allen and Kanda looked at each other before Kanda walked out of the kitchen heading upstairs. "What...?" Tiedoll asked looking to Allen.

"We wanted to wait until it was for sure and everyone adjusted..." Allen answered focused on his cooking. Soon Kanda walked back into the kitchen with Soraya hiding behind him.

"Um... there's something attached to you..." Cross pointed out to Kanda as he was busy sitting at the table watching everyone else cook.

"That something is our daughter Soraya. She moved in with us last week. We wanted to give her some time to adjust to us before we introduced you guys to her." Allen responded pointing the spatula at Cross in warning.

"Why didn't you tell us you guys were adopting?" Tiedoll asked already getting weepy.

"We were denied for two years... we wanted to wait until it was complete before telling you guys so no one was disappointed if it fell through..." Kanda answered picking Soraya up before Tiedoll could try to hug her.

"She is so beautiful..." Tiedoll sobbed as he stood in front of Kanda wanting to hold Soraya even though she was five years old.

"Calm down old man you'll scare her." Kanda retorted keeping Soraya away from Tiedoll.

"Congrats kiddo... you're off to a great start with your new family." Cross said watching Allen watch the other three interact. He could see how happy Allen was with Kanda and their new daughter. Cross was pretty sure there was going to be even more kids in the future since Allen seemed like the type to want lots of kids and Kanda seemed to be a family man as well.

"Are you happy to be a grandpa?" Allen asked a little teasingly.

"I am." Tiedoll said crying with joy even though he knew Allen was asking Cross.

"Actually... I am... I'm proud of you guys..." Cross said before turning to his wine done being sentimental. Tiedoll called Daisya telling him to pick up Marie and bring him to Kanda's place to meet their niece. It didn't take long for Daisya and Marie to show up and meet Soraya as well so the house was a little loud and active but everyone was happy which was all Allen wanted. This was a dream come true for Allen, a dream he didn't realize he had until he had met Kanda and realized that he could have this sort of life. As everyone was outside playing with Soraya Allen was standing off to the side admiring this perfectly mismatched family with all the love and pride possible.

"Thank you..." Allen said softly when Kanda walked over to him kissing his cheek gently.

"What are you thanking me for now?" Kanda asked wrapping an arm around Allen.

"For everything... for helping me realize how strong I can be...that I can let myself have good things in life... for loving me... for saving me... giving me a reason to live. Just... everything..." Allen replied looking over at Kanda. Truly Kanda was the love of Allen's life, his whole reason for getting better...stronger... He would be nothing without Kanda. Kanda kissed Allen on the lips the two of them lost in their focus on each other until Soraya ran and hid behind them getting them involved in the game of chase.

At the end of the day Soraya was fast asleep needing to be carried to her bed which Kanda did with Allen and everyone else following. With Soraya all tucked in everyone else went to the living room and chatted quietly for a while before everyone went home. This had been the perfect day for everyone. Allen and Kanda were going to make sure there were many perfect days just like this for everyone especially for Soraya and their future adopted children.
