"True Love – Sherman & Penny"

Special Chapter No. 3: Fear Me Out

On a weekend, Mr. Peabody and Sherman went to the Peterson's. As for the latter, he's looking forward to have a play date with the blond cutie. They reached the sky blue hose by lunch. A feast ensued. Despite being told by the parents not to run, Sherman and Penny rushed to the girl's room afterwards.

The boy's more than happy. Those Lego bricks were really a great asset for a play date. He creatively made a replica of her and she's delighted. After some talking, playing, and singing, the eyeglassed boy remembered a question in mind.

"Penny, are you ever afraid of something?", he asked.

"Of course. There's the mummy."

"I don't mean that."

"Then what?"

"When we went to SPF, I think I noticed that you're a bit anxious when we're to ride the Ferris wheel."

"Wait. You think, or Dad told you?"

"Actually, your Dad told Mr. Peabody, and then he told me."

"Oh. Okay."

"Why are you afraid of Ferris wheels? Or are you afraid of heights?"

"Me? Afraid of heights? Don't you remember that I was the one who pulled the lever?"

"Well… then why?"

Penny cleared her throat and tried to change topic, but Sherman won't let her.

Meanwhile, Mr. Peabody and Penny's parents were having a hearty talk in the kitchen. Topic in point, amusement parks, and Paul's reaction's to the rides.

"… It's really great to have your someone in the rides.", Patty concluded and turned to her husband. The latter showed a slight blush.

"Yeah. Right.", he thinly replied.

"If you only saw his face!", she told the dog genius, "He's like afraid to death!"

"Hey!", and they went to some teasing.

"Now that you mentioned it, how come that Penny got a natural fear of Ferris wheels?", Mr. Peabody diverted. The two were stopped on their sweet rumblings.

"Peabuddy, it happened three years ago…", Paul went to tell the story after clearing his throat.

It's going to be the best Sunday of the family. Paul got promoted on the job and got an incentive. Penny was 4 and a half years old, and was so excited. The father decided that they go to an amusement park to enjoy the blessing.

In time, the Petersons reached the place. They had genuine fun, a family bonding beyond compare. They went and tried different games, and of course got different prizes, went to rides, and tried different fast foods. Though enjoying the bumper ride, little Penny yearned to ride one thing: The Ferris wheel.

Since his precious jewel badly wanted it, Paul couldn't help but to let her ride the Ferris. It was quite fulfilling to a parent to see his daughter happy. As they approached the highest point, the three enjoyed the scenery. Neither knew that something's gonna happen.

All of a sudden, a strong wind blew from the east. As the Ferris wheel faced the said direction, the breeze easily rocked the ride. Fear struck everyone. In a minute, the Ferris showed signs of falling over. Paul acted fast. As Patty and Penny were slipping down, he reached and held them tight. It took some time before the ride stabilized and went back to normal. Scared, little Penny cried silently.

"That's what happened…", Patty added.

"Well… I guess Penny developed a phobia of Ferris wheels. Good thing, she figured out how to fight it off.", Mr. Peabody said.

"Yeah. Thanks to you and Sherman.", Paul replied. And they went to a toast.

Back to that pink room…

"So that's what happened…", Sherman said in a low tone. Apparently, Penny also told him of the incident.

"Now you know.", Penny replied.

"You should have told me about it."

"Then? What would happen if I told you about it?"

"We'll not get on the Ferris."

"Geez. I'm not a kill joy, okay? Besides, I wanna live the dream. And, wouldn't it be good if I fight over that fear?"

"Well…"

"Well, what?"

"That's pretty fantastic."

"Thanks, Sherman."

"Hey! Why thank me?"

"I might have not got over my fear if not for you. Thanks. Love you.", she sweetly said.

And the eyeglassed boy succumbed to a pleasant blush.
