Chapter Seven: Patience

Anna had been a nervous wreck since they found the reindeer and trolls in the middle of a snowball fight, but not Jack and Olaf in sight. By the time they got to the palace, she knew that they must be at the palace trying to get in, or with Jack's powers, they had probably already found a way inside and who knows what was happening right now.

"Anna, relax. Olaf is a snowman and Jack has powers, they're fine right now. I'm sure Elsa is perfectly fine too. Who knows, the doors might even be opened up by the time we get there." Kristoff said, mostly to try to calm Anna's nerves. He didn't know anymore than Anna what might happen with Jack and Elsa left alone with their powers, but he hoped that if something did happen, they kept their freezing powers up on the mountain and didn't freeze the entire kingdom again.

"I hope you're right." Anna mumbled.

"Alright, are we ready to go?" North called out with a jolly tone. When Anna and Kristoff finally laid eyes on the sleigh, his reindeer fully hooked up to it with bells and everything, it almost looked magical.

"Whoa," Kristoff stared at the sleigh in amazement before running up to it and gawking at every inch of detail on the thing. "Now this is a sleigh."

"Wait until you see her fly." North winked at him.

As they all piled into the sleigh, Sven included though form the look on his face, he seemed to want to be with the other reindeer in the front, Anna just expected North's sleigh to go really fast. And it did, for the first few minutes racing through town, but once it got up the mountains, she got a little worried when the sleigh seemed to be slowly lifting off the ground.

"Uh, North, don't you think we're going a little too fast?" Anna asked nervously as she tightened her grip on the sleigh in front of her. "The sleigh is lifting off the ground a bit."

"Good, it needs to get some speed before take off!" North smiled.

"Take off?" Anna and Kristoff asked simultaneously.

Just as Anna gripped onto the sleigh with all her might, the sleigh lifted up off the ground and they were soaring through the air, everything below them turning into miniature versions of what it once was.

"We're actually flying!" Kristoff called out before laughing with joy.

"Don't look down, don't look down, don't look down." Anna calmly told herself as she took deep breaths and held on for dear life. She knew that once they would finally reach the Ice Palace, she was going to have to have a talk with North about putting some seatbelts in this thing, especially if he was going to take people with a slight fear of heights out on it.

Jack had started talking aimlessly about anything he could think of after a while; just to fill up the silence in the place. He could hear Olaf talking on the other side of the door, but Elsa wouldn't respond to him either.

"My sister would love this place. She loves winter, she would like Olaf too, and they'd probably get along well." Jack sighed. "She'd like you too, ever since I got my powers she's been bound and determined to find an ice princess. I guess ice queen works too."

"I'd like to meet her one day." Elsa finally broke the silence. Jack couldn't tell if she was responding to finally hear something other than his voice, or if it was just a reflex, but either way, at least he got her to speak.

He decided not to make a big deal out of her breaking the silence and just went along with it, as if they had been talking the entire time. "I'm sure you'd make her day." He smiled, thinking of how excited his sister would be at finally finding an ice princess – or rather an ice queen.

Everything was quiet for a few more moments until Jack felt like something was missing. It wasn't until he fell flat on his back into the doorway that seemed to be missing a door now that he realized Elsa had made the door disappear. Olaf was standing over him now with his usual big warm smile, Elsa wasn't much further behind him and though she wasn't necessarily smiling a broad grin like Olaf, she was smiling a little bit as she held her hand out to help him stand up.

"Usually Anna's the only one this determined." Elsa said.

Jack took her hand and rose up to his feet. He almost forgot to let go once he was standing up fine, but part of him didn't want to let her hand go.

"To be honest, even after only her a few days, I'm surprised I didn't show up here to find her climbing up the castle wall trying to get to you." Jack smiled.

"Oh!" Elsa exclaimed just as she remembered. "I have to go thaw the wall out front."

She breezed past him with Olaf trotting behind her and Jack quickly followed. Elsa swiftly guided them through the palace, which was a lot larger on the inside that Jack had assumed, though the palace looked gigantic standing outside of it as well. When they finally reached the front of the castle, Elsa slipped and Jack quickly reacted by catching her with his staff just before she fell on the ground.

"Are you alright?" Jack asked as he knelt down beside her now and unhooked his staff from around Elsa's waist.

"That's never happened before." Elsa said so quietly that Jack barely heard it.

"Well, as amazing as this place is, maybe running around a palace made of ice in heels isn't the best idea." Jack smiled.

"That wasn't a problem before, maybe I just wasn't paying attention." Elsa sighed.

Jack got to his feet and held his hand out to Elsa just as she had done for him only moments ago, which Elsa gratefully accepted. Once she was on her feet again, she hadn't realized just how close she was to Jack, and when their noses touched she blushed a bright shade of red before quickly stepping back a couple of feet and trying to hide her now vibrant red cheeks. Just as Jack was about to speak, Olaf quickly interrupted.

"Do you guys hear that?" Olaf asked as he walked down the staircase that led to the front door.

"Hear what?" Jack asked curiously.

"It sounds like…thunder." Olaf stared at the door curiously now. "You didn't invite Marshmallow over again, did you?" Olaf asked Elsa now.

Without saying a word, Elsa quickly made the door vanish just in time for what looked like a sleigh pulled by reindeer to charge into the room and come to a halt just before crashing into the staircase.

"Anna?" Elsa asked as the sleigh settled to a complete halt now.

Frozen in place at the front of the sleigh beside North was a very petrified looking Anna whose eyes were locked on what was directly ahead of her instead of anywhere else. Kristoff, who appeared to have just had the time of his life, was just now noticing that something was very wrong with Anna; and Sven was carefully stepping out of the sleigh before falling flat on his face, having what Jack could only describe as what looked like someone who had been out to sea too long and had forgotten what solid ground was like.

"Anna, it's okay, the ride is over." Kristoff calmly told her as he rubbed her shoulders.

Anna blinked a few times before realizing where she actually was. Everyone's eyes were fixated on her, waiting for her to either scream, be sick, or faint, but no one was expecting what she actually did.

"That was…amazing!" Anna finally exclaimed. "You've known us since we were kids and you never thought to mention that you have a flying sleigh and reindeer?" Anna asked North with a smile on her face. "I mean, you do really need to put seatbelts in this thing or something, but that was awesome!" Anna laughed. "Elsa, his reindeer fly!" She shouted at her sister with pure joy. Anna leapt out of the sled and seemed to forget that she was in fact on a floor made out of nothing but ice and nearly face-planted into the ground just as Sven had, if Kristoff hadn't caught her in time.

"Looks like everyone's tripping over their own feet today." Jack laughed and he could have sworn he caught Elsa smiling out of the corner of his eyes.

"Everybody loves the sleigh." North finally spoke with a jolly laugh.

"How about we all go back home?" Elsa asked. "I think we've had enough adventure for one day. Besides, they start decorating the castle tomorrow for your birthday Anna." Elsa smiled.

Anna's eyes lit up with even more joy than Jack thought was possible before she burst out with the biggest smile he'd ever seen.

"You have to ride in the sleigh Elsa, you'll love it!" Anna grinned.

"I'm sure I will." Elsa smiled back, happy to see that Anna was ecstatic.

"You guys go ahead, I'll meet you down there." Jack said.

"Are you sure?" Elsa asked him, Jack was surprised by the hint of concern in her voice.

"Yeah, go on, have fun. I just have to do something really quick before I go back there. I'm actually going to need Olaf's help, if he doesn't mind." Jack said.

"Okay!" Olaf readily agreed with a grin.

"Alright," Elsa said warily. "I'll see you two back there later."

Elsa hopped into the sleigh next to Anna, Kristoff got Sven back into the sleigh, and with a quick nod in Jack's direction from North, he bellowed out to his reindeer and they slowly turned around and pulling out of the palace before picking up speed and charging outside back towards Arendelle.

"What are we doing?" Olaf asked, optimistically.

"Olaf…I'm going to need your help on a secret mission." Jack said as Olaf looked up at him with a huge smile on his face.
