Chapter Twelve In the Name of the Brother

"Killian, this is silly." Dream Ellie said with a giggle as the two of them stepped together, dancing to music playing in the background. The two were in Mary Margaret's apartment, Ellie wearing a black and white striped tea cup dress with red heels while Hook was dressed in modern clothes, though certainly not losing the leather.

Damn, he looked really good in modern clothes.

"Every princess has to learn to dance lass." He remarked as he raised her hand above her and gave her a spin, causing her to giggle as he pulled her in close, their noses touching.

"I've been dancing all my life and I can tell you that this isn't dancing Captain." She remarked as he glanced towards her lips. She never noticed how beautiful his eyes were up close, how they (like the sea) were so easy to get lost in.

"No," he agreed, "this is much better than dancing…" He leaned closer and closer until Ellie jolted awake, thanks to her sister's shaking and repentance of her name. A part of her was certainly glad that Emma woke her up, nervous of her reaction to a kiss from Hook (albeit a dream kiss) while another part of her was annoyed, she wanted to experience it.

God, she needed some help. What kind of person wants to experience a dream kiss from a psychotic pirate hellbent on revenge?

"Time to get up. We got a call." Emma explained as Ellie rolled out of bed, slowly preparing herself. Seriously, what could a town of fairytale characters do that required police at three in the morning? Though at this moment, she was glad for the call, that would certainly take her mind of things.

"Where?" She drowsily asked.

"Town line. Someone got through." That certainly caused Ellie to hurry up.
-OUAT-

Emma, Ellie, David and Mary Margaret finally arrive at the scene. David and Mary Margaret rushed towards Belle and Mr Gold while Emma stayed at the police car to radio for more help. Seeing a familiar figure, Ellie slowly walked over to Hook.

"Are you okay?" David asked Gold and Belle. Gold shook his head as Mary Margaret helped Belle.

"I'm at the town line. Two people down, maybe three. There's a car-pretty banged up with Pennsylvania plates." Ellie heard Emma say into the radio. She finally stood over Hook, who was close to passing out.

"What's going on?" David asked Gold.

"She crossed over the line. She doesn't remember." Ellie could only assume that 'she' meant Belle...which couldn't mean anything good.

"Hey, beautiful…"Ellie was tempted to stomp on his chest, where she knew his ribs were broken (having both her and her sister experienced them while being on the run), "Here...I didn't think you'd notice." She leaned down and, instead of stomping, pressed hard on his ribs. He yelled out in pain. She pretended to pout.

"Oh...it looks like your ribs are broken." She stated with a sad sigh.

"Oh, that must be why it hurts when I laugh," she rolled her eyes, "Did you see his face. His one true love, gone in an instant! Just like Milah, crocodile!" So, apparently he was back to the this, "When you took her from me." She stood up, frowning down at him. With the dreams she'd been having about Hook, she'd gotten used to the kind and loving Hook. The one that looked at her like she was the most beautiful thing in the world. This Hook was the stereotypical 'I know I'm better than you' guy.

"But you took her first." Gold growled and lunged at Hook, digging his cane into Hook's neck.

"Gold, are you insane?!" Ellie demanded, pulling him back with the help of Emma.

"Yes, I am!" he snarled, fighting the twins to get to Hook.

"You can't do that!" David tried to reason, coming over to help his daughters.

"I can if you let me go."

"You don't want her to see that." Ellie tried, referring to Belle, who was still unconscious and bleeding.

"I'm a stranger to her." Gold argued, which made Ellie sigh. Yeah, he had a point but they really didn't need to deal with a murderous Gold.

"Murder is a bad first impression." Emma tried, making Ellie nod in agreement.

"What would Belle want you to do?" David finally tried, making Gold falter for a moment before David pulled Gold away from the twins and Hook. The ambulance arrived to the scene, making the twins jump up.

"Over here!" they called, making the ambulance stop and the paramedics jump out and head over to Hook.

"No!" Ellie said, directing them to the driver of the other car, "Him! Take care of him! He can wait." Mary Margaret, who was still helping Belle, looks to her daughter as the paramedics go to the car.

"What?" She questions, why on earth was her daughter telling them to not help Hook. Yes, she remembered what he did to them back in the Enchanted Forest but that certainly does not excuse it here.

"There's someone in there." Ellie explained as Emma walked over, watching the paramedics.

"Stay. I'll be right back." Mary Margaret instructed, walking over to David and speaking for a few moments before walking back to her daughters.

"Do you know this guy?" Emma asked her mother.

"I've never seen him before." She answered as David walked over to join his family.

"That's because he drove into town." David explained, making his wife and daughter's eyes go wide. How could this be possible? How could someone with a non magical or fairy-tale background get in and out of Storybrooke?

"From the outside?" Mary Margaret asked.

"Looks like the world just came to Storybrooke." Emma muttered, making Ellie nervously bite her knuckles and look around at the scene.

They were certainly in trouble.

-OUAT-

The Charming family quickly jumped in the car and followed the ambulance to the hospital. Once all the victims from the accident were out of the ambulance, the Charmings followed them in, acting as the sheriff's.

"I don't know what's going on." Belle said, looking between all the doctors and nurses as she was wheeled down the hall.

"Car versus pedestrian. Chest trauma from the wheel. Pedestrian's got contusions, broken ribs." The paramedic listed off as the group continued down the hall.

"Go to X-Ray. Pedestrian first." the Nurse instructed as the team turned to the unidentified man.

"Hide him." Emma and Ellie simultaneously instructed.

"What?" the nurse questioned, a confused look etched upon her face. The twins understood the confusion, but they really didn't have time.

"Find a room and hide him." Emma further instructed. The nurse paused, looking at the two of them before Gold came over and she quickly scurried off to do her job.

"Belle." He said, watching her be wheeled away to another room, "What's going on?" He questioned the Charming family.

"Get him out of here!" David demanded.

"Well, what's happening?" Gold demanded, looking at him and then back down the hall, where Belle had been placed, "Belle!"

"I'd like to know that myself." Leory said, walking into the hospital with the other dwarves, only adding to Ellie's frustration. Things were quickly blowing out of proportion, faster than Ellie and Emma could possibly hope to fix things.

"Belle! Belle!" Gold continued to cry, peering over in hopes of her simply coming out of her room and solving all the problems that were slowly piling up. Dr. Whale comes down the hall, causing a momentary silence among the group.

"Everybody, calm down!" That certainly got all attention to him, "Mr. Gold, everything will be fine. She's in good hands. I promise."

-OUAT-

Ellie sat in a chair next to Hook's bed, her sketchbook (which she'd found in his jacket) in her lap and a cup of crappy hospital coffee in her hands. No damage had been done to the book, thankfully because Ellie was certain that she would make sure that Hook would never walk again. The book was too precious and Ellie wanted to know how Hook got his slimey hand and hook on it. Hook slowly opened his eyes, making Ellie set her coffee aside and stand up.

"I have two very simple questions that can cause you no pain at all as long as you answer them honestly." He blinked a few times and looked at her, "Where's Cora and how did you get this book?" She held up her sketchbook, keeping her face neutral.

"What?" Killian sleepily asks, looking to her. He goes to move his arm and then realizes that she had handcuffed him to his bed. "Again? You're really into this, aren't you? Damn, that hurts."

"Told you-cracked a few ribs. Now, answer these two questions again-where's Cora and how the hell did you get this?" Ellie demanded again, needing the answer. She hadn't even realized that it was missing, which scared her the most.

"You look good," he was avoiding the subject, "I must say. All 'where's Cora?' in a commanding voice," he was avoiding the sketchbook, "Chills."

"You have all sorts of sore places," she leaned close to Hook, "I can make you hurt." She jabbed her hand in his ribs, causing him to wince. A part of her felt bad, Emma really was the tougher of the two of them but then she reminded herself that he brought Cora here-a madwoman who only thought of herself and Regina. He also took her sketchbook-every thought, dream and desire was in that book.

"I have no idea where Cora is. She has her own agenda," Ellie didn't doubt that, their time together in the Enchanted Forest certainly proved that, "Let's talk about something I am interested in-my hook," honestly, Ellie was surprised he didn't mention the book-she knew for certain there was drawings of the two of them, "May I have it back? Or is there another attachment you'd prefer?" Ellie wanted to throw up.

"You're awfully chipper for a guy who just failed to kill his enemy, and then get hit by a car." Ellie decided to honor his avoidance of the book, in the overall scheme of things-Cora was much more important.

"Well, my ribs may be broken, but...everything is still intact. Which is more than can be said for other bad days I've had," Ellie crossed her arms, still holding onto her book, "Plus, I did some damage to my foe."

"You hurt Belle." Ellie reminded him.

"I hurt his heart," Hook corrected, "Belle's just where he keeps it. He killed my love. I know the feeling." Ellie smirked, he knew nothing.

"Keep smiling buddy. You're chained down, he's on his feet, immortal, has magic, and you hurt his girl," Ellie could see the fear in his face, "If I were to pick dead guy of the year? I'd pick you." Ellie leaves Hook with that statement, off to find her family. But as soon as Emma saw her she instructed to lay on a chair, get some sleep.

It was Emma's way of telling her she looked like crap. Ellie was sure she did, she certainly felt it after dealing with Hook. So, with her jacket wrapped around her-she curled up on an uncomfortable hospital chair and laid down.

Dream

"Three to two, are you even trying Killian?" Ellie teased as Hook leaned down, picking up his sword. She bounced on her feet, spinning her own sword in her hand. The two stood on Hook's ship, docked at the Storybrooke docks.

"Aye lass," Killian said, holding out his sword for her to touch hers upon-their way of starting the fight-and she did so. Killian swung at her feet-making her jump up in surprise. She swung down, momentarily knocking his sword out his hand. Swinging his hook upwards, Ellie stumbled backwards.

With the advantage, Hook quickly grabbed his sword and blocked Ellie's upper swing. Again, he swung at Ellie's stomach with his hook, making her jump backwards. She ran up to the upper part of the deck, one hand behind her back and the other giving a swing on both sides of her body-creating a figure eight. Hook smirked, slowly walking up to her.

He swung again but this time, Ellie swung a pulley around the mast, making Hook duck. With him down on his back, Ellie knocked his sword out of his hand and held hers at his neck. With her heavy breathing, she smiled down at him.

"Do you surrender?" Hook smirked up at her, then catching her ankle and pulling her on back. He quickly climbed on top of her waist and held her arms above her head. WIth a smirk, he leaned close into her face.

"Do you surrender?" he asked, his breath hitting her face and making it very hard for her to concentrate. She raised her head, bringing her lips close to his. Hook's eyes fluttered close, expecting a kiss but she simply wrapped her legs around his waist and jabbed her feet at the base of his spine. He buckled down on top of her and she flipped the two of them around, making her on top again.

"I win." She said with a smirk, leaning down and kissing him.

"Ellie...Ellie…"Emma's voice echoed as Ellie continued to kiss Hook.

Dream Over

Ellie jumped in surprise as Emma shook her awake. With wide eyes, Ellie looked at her sister-who held out a cup of coffee. She glanced between the cup and her sister before taking it and then giving her a nod of thanks. Emma sat next to her sister, pulling out an unrecognizable phone to Ellie.

"What's that?" Ellie asked, taking a sip of the coffee as the rest of the company joined the two sisters in the lobby.

"The outsider's phone." Emma simply said, picking it up and spinning it in her hand. It began to vibrate, causing the group to jump and look-seeing 'her' on the caller id.

"Same person again." Leory said, making Ellie frown.

"They've called before?" She asked, getting a nod from Ellie. God, she misses everything when she tries to catch up on sleep.

"'Her'. Cute." Emma sarcastically said.

"Probably a girlfriend." David remarked.

"We could answer it-just let her know he's okay." Mary Margaret offered.

"He's not okay." Emma reminded her mother, making Ellie look at her with a frown. Good lord, what on earth could she have missed?

"He's alive," Ellie reminded them, then frowned-thinking about all that was missed and asked, "he's alive right?" they all nodded, making her sigh in relief, "We could let her know he's alive."

"Nah," David said with a shake of his head, "The police can trace it here instantly."

"She can activate the find your phone thing without us picking it up at all." Emma said just as the phone stopped vibrating-giving the group a momentary sense of calm.

"That settles that." Leory said.

"Oh, my nerves can't take this. Is the surgery almost over?" Mary Margaret asked, looking around for an answer.

"I...I think it takes…"Emma began to say, but paused when a man enters and scans the lobby. He turns to leave before David stops him.

"Whoa, whoa. Wait, wait. Any news?" He asked.

"No, I was looking for the doctor." the man answered, making the group frown. That can't be a good sign, they quickly got up and surround the man.

"He's not in the OR?" Ruby asked.

"He never came in." the man explained.

"Then page him." Emma instructed, saying it like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"He was not looking so good earlier." David said with a frown. The man pulls out his phone, dialing for Whale. He puts it to his ear as it begins to ring. A faint beeping sound is heard nearby.

"He's here." Mary Margaret remarks, leading the group to a closet. She opened the door, looking down to see a basket of dirty laundry. Emma picked it up and dug through it, pulling out a pager and Dr. Whale's lab coat.

"No, but his pager is. He's gone." Emma said with a frustrated sigh. After a moment, Emma hands Ruby the coat-coming up with the plan to use her to track him down by scent.

"Got the scent?" David asked after a moment.

"Boozy." She replied with a grimace.

"Just find him and bring him back," Ellie said, "We'll watch Hook and figure out options if Whale doesn't come back."

"Maybe Doc can do it." Mary Margaret offered, making the twins frown. Who'd want to have surgery done on them by a dwarf?

"Surgery? No." Leroy said, only confirming Ellie's suspicions.

"Maybe he didn't even run," Mary Margaret suggested, "Maybe Cora grabbed him for some reason."

"I don't think so. He's been in a rough place since he had brought Regina's fiance back to life." Daniel said, making his family's eyes go wide.

"Daniel?" Mary Margaret questioned.

"Back to life!?" Ellie yelled in surprise.

"And had his arm ripped off and put back on." Daniel finished.

"Cool." Leory said with a grin, making everyone look to them and he quickly frowned-pretending to be upset.

"Wait. Daniel came back?" Mary Margaret clarified.

"Like some kind of Frankenstein?" Ellie questioned with a frown.

"That's Whale. The doctor. And Daniel was his-"

"What went on here while we were gone?" Mary Margaret asked.

"Ruby, get going. Bring back...Dr. Frankenstein." Ellie instructed, bringing the group back to the situation at hand. Ruby nods and leaves the group.

"We're going to send this guy back home with bolts in his neck." Emma remarked.

"She'll find him." Mary Margaret assured him.

"Yeah, but what kind of state is he going to be in?" Ellie asked, stating the question on everyone's mind.

-OUAT-

Ellie couldn't take much more this nervous sitting around and waiting. She was certain she was going to chew her hand off if Ruby didn't return soon with Whale. She put her hand down, willing herself to stop chewing her nails and now bouncing her foot.

"You're back." Ellie heard Mary Margaret say, she looked up-seeing Ruby walk in with Whale. She stood up, all nervousness finished.

"Finally." Ellie said.

"I don't know why everyone's so worried," Dr. Whale said, pretending to be a professional, "I was just stretching my legs. Now I'm going to go do this thing."

-LATER-

"He's going to make it?" David asked as Whale entered into the lobby.

"He's got some recuperating ahead of him-a few weeks, maybe-but yes. He's going to live." Dr. Whale explained, making the group let out a thankful sigh.

"Thank goodness." Mary Margaret remarked.

"Or me." Whale said, making Ellie narrow her eyes in annoyance.

"Tell you right now, this will come to no good." Leory remarked.

"Quiet Leory." David snapped, the tension was rising higher minute by minute.

"I want to talk to him." Emma said after a moment of silence.

"He's waking up now." Dr. Whale said, making all of them look to the doctor in surprise.

"Already?" Ellie asked.

"I waited a couple of hours to tell you in case he, you know, keeled over," Dr. Whale explained, "But so far, so good."

"Alright then." Mary Margaret remarked with a nod.

"Well, let's talk to him." David said, pointing over to the stranger's room.

"We're not talking to him as a group," Emma remarked, stopping her parents, "We're not a group Sheriff."

"But, we've been doing this together." Mary Margaret said, her voice drifting off in sad tone.

"We're trying to convince this guy this place is normal," Ellie reminded her parents, "In a normal town, the Sheriff and Deputy goes in and asks a few questions. They don't bring their parents in with them."

"That's probably true." David agreed.

"We'll be right here then." Mary Margaret said, giving her daughters an encouraging nod. The two smiled back at their parents and turned to go into Greg's room.

"Nurse?" he asked as the two entered.

"Sheriff and Deputy Swans actually." Emma answered.

"I'm thirsty." Ellie poured him a glass and handed it to him.

"Here, I have your personal effects," Emma sets down his bag of belongings she brought next to his bed, "I'm just going to put them here, okay?" He nods, "So, Mr. Mendell, I wanted to talk to you about the accident."

"Did I hit somebody?" He quickly asked, "Oh, my God, I hit someone. Is he okay?"

"Don't worry about him," Ellie quickly said, causing the two of them to look at her in surprise, "I mean, the damage was pretty minor."

"Oh, thank God." Greg said, breathing a sigh of relief.

"But, I do need you to state what happened in your own words-what you did, what you saw." Emma said.

"Well, I...I didn't see anything." Greg began.,

"Well, you were driving." Ellie bluntly stated, interrupting him for a moment.

"Yeah," he agreed, "I mean...I saw the road, of course."

"I just think we might be able to put your mind at ease," Emma said, gesturing to the two of them, "There might be...an explanation if you saw-"

"I was texting." He interrupted, causing the twins to pause.

"Oh."

"I looked down, just for a second. And when I looked back up, he was...he was right there. And he was too close to avoid, but I…" he looked to the two of them, "I know that it's not legal in Maine."

"It's okay. We're glad that you were...were honest with us." Emma said.

"So, no charges?" Greg hopefully asked the twins.

"No," Ellie said, "No charges. We'll let you go with a warning this time."

"Thank you," Greg said with a thankful sigh, "So when...when can I head home?"

"As soon as the Doctor clears you," Ellie said, walking towards the door with her sister, "We don't want to keep you." The twins walk down to the lobby, where everyone is anxiously waiting for the answers.

"He didn't see nothing?" Leory asked.

"Free and clear." Emma answered, making the group let out a sigh of relief.

"Oh, good."

"Now maybe, things can calm down for ten minutes and we can catch our breath." David said, making Ellie internally flinch. There was no doubt that he now jinxed them.

-OUAT-

Emma, Ellie and their parents finally made it back to Mary Margaret's apartment. Once the door shut, Henry came storming down the stairs and threw his arms around his mother and aunt's waist. Once he was done hugging them, he quickly hugged Mary Margaret and David. The five went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

"You were out all night. Where were you? Granny wouldn't tell me anything. Did I miss it all?" Henry asked, spouting off question after question.

"Cereal okay?" David asked as Ellie sat at the bar, resting her forehead on the cool counter.

"Yeah." Emma answered for the two of them.

"Rumpelstiltskin and Captain Hook had a fight and someone got hurt." Mary Margaret said, summing it up as simply as possible.

"We weren't sure if Dr. Frankenstein could fix him, but he did." Ellie mumbled, raising her head.

"Doctor?" Henry asked with a confused look on his face before he nodded in understanding, "Oh...That's who Whale is."

"Yeah, but without the neck bolts." Emma explained, gesturing to her neck.

"The monster had the bolts, not the doctor." Henry said, making Ellie smile.

"Glad to see that you got my smarts and not your moms," Emma smacked Ellie on the back of her head, "I was just stating a fact, no need to get violent about it."
"Right," Emma said, looking down at her sister with a frown, "but either way, some of us having known him...it's weird." She looks to Mary Margaret, who gets a defensive look on her face.

"It's not weird," Mary Margaret insisted, "We're past it. We were cursed."

"What are you talking about?" Henry asked, looking to all the grownups.

"Nothing." David insisted.

"Wait." Henry said, running off towards his room.

"Really, it's nothing." Mary Margaret insisted as Henry came back with his book, opening it to flip through the pages.

"Frankenstein isn't in here. It's not even a fairy tale. That means it come from another land with different stories." Ellie rolled her eyes, that was too much. She could seriously only take so much.

"Eat," Emma told Henry, gesturing to the cereal, Ellie could tell that Emma didn't want to talk about it anymore than Ellie did, "I really want to go to bed."

"If the curse went to places with other stories, then who knows who else is in this town?" Henry remarked as someone knocked on the door. Emma gets up to answer but Gold already lets himself in.

"Gold. We've all had a long night." Emma remarked with a sigh.

"You remember that favor you two owe me?" Gold asked, gesturing to the twins-which made Ellie perk up.

"Yeah." Ellie remarked warily.

"I'm cashing it in." The twins looked at each other in surprise.

"It's not…"Ellie began, looking to Emma .

"You do honor your agreements, don't you?" he asked, looking to the two of them, "I need to find someone, so we're leaving today. Pack your bags."

"Leaving?"

"W-where?"

"Wait. Find someone? Who?" Emma asked.

"My son. It has to be today, because every minute I'm here, is a minute closer to me killing Hook. So it's really best for all concerned if I leave, and you two are going to come with me," he said, turning back to the door and then turning back to the twins, "Oh, and, um, we have a long history. So know this, and know it to be true. If any harm goes to Belle while I'm gone, I'm killing all of you. I'll see you at noon."
