Sorry for my hiatus. My focus for the last couple of months has been school. If I don't finish my schooling this semester, my parents are going to cut me off so I hope you guys can understand, but I am still alive, don't worry. I'll start updating my stories starting with Prince of Yotsuba next month.

Please enjoy this random drabble. I will be publishing another drabble in the next 8 hours or so to exercise my mind. It has been awhile after all.

By the way, there will be a preview for the next chapter of the Prince of Yotsuba at the end of this

Training

It was unconventional, even for the Yotsuba, but at the tender age of five, Maya started training her son in magic and combat with the intention of deploying him in a year.

Due to the circumstances, Maya personally trained her son.

Maya, in her generation and even at present, was one of the most powerful and strongest combatant, not only in Japan but also in the world. She was arguably the strongest magician that was ever born in the Yotsuba Clan. Her knowledge in magic and combat is vast and she was prepared to impart her knowledge to her son.

But it was not needed.

It was not to be.

Tatsuya refused most of his mother's teachings in favor of developing his own skills by himself.

His reason, they are different in every aspect in terms of combat ability.

Although the results were desirable and the product was perfection, Maya felt slightly disappointed that her contribution to her son's growth as a magician and combatant was so small.

Top

Only a select few can stand on top.

It is sad but true.

Most are born weak, some are born average, a few are born strong, but only a select few can stand on top.

The top is the loneliest place imaginable.

The weak cannot understand the strong. The weak cannot relate to the strong.

Though the strong may understand or relate with the weak, the strong would never comprehend those below them.

The weak would forever try to reach the peak, always failing because of their limitations.

The strong would forever look down upon those below them, not comprehending the inability of the weak to reach them.

Once upon a time, Maya thought that being on top is the loneliest place imaginable.

That was the past.

Maya did not consider the top a lonely place, not anymore.

After all, her son was now beside her, on the peak that most could only dream of but never reach, looking down upon those would never even reach their feet.

The top was no longer a lonely place.

Limit

The first time Maya realize that her son needed to have limiters on his person was during his first mission.

Normally, a child of the Yotsuba would be given missions when they reach their teens. This was a rite of passage for Yotsuba Children.

But Tatsuya was different.

At age six, he was already magically, mentally, and emotionally ready to take missions for the Yotsuba.

Therefore, as a test, Maya gave her son a mission.

A very simple retrieval mission.

Maya ordered her son to retrieve information from a research center. The research center was heavily guarded but nobody was strong enough to stop Tatsuya, Maya made sure of it.

The mission was nothing fancy, nothing too complicated. It was as simple as one could get.

Tatsuya succeeded in the mission with ease but his performance was nowhere near satisfactory for Maya.

Tatsuya's first mission was a simple retrieval mission.

He did not have to slaughter everyone in the research center just to cover his tracks.

Still, Maya realize something after her son's first mission.

Regardless of his unnatural intellect and maturity, Tatsuya was still a child, and children aren't known for their finesse or for patience or even control.

They are known for looking at the path with the shortest possible work.

Humanity

Maya had abandon her humanity a long time ago.

Tatsuya was not born with humanity and Maya did not allow him to develop something she considered useless.

But they were still capable of showing humanity, but only to each other.

Well, that is the case for Maya.

Tatsuya was different.

Maya had caught glimpsed of what remains Tatsuya's humanity at his second mission, the first mission that Maya gave him after she sealed at least half of his power, for his own good.

At his second mission, Tatsuya was wounded and he bled.

That was the day Tatsuya showed pained for the first time.

Maya looked very stricken when she noticed that there was something a kin to bliss mix with the pained expression on her son's face.

Although that lasted only for a moment when Maya noticed how beautiful her son was when he looked human and the excitement in his eyes of finally having a challenge brought joy to her heart.

After more than three decades, Maya could finally see the usefulness of having a shed of humanity.

Fragility

Human beings are fragile.

Life itself is fragile.

The world is fragile, at its very nature, is fragile.

Everything and anything in the world is fragile.

Maya had never before stop and consider the fragility of everyone and everything around her. She considers that topic as beyond her attention.

Yet, at the birth of her son and as she watch him grow, Maya found new appreciation towards the fragility of the world.

Her son possess the power to thoroughly destroy anything he sets his eyes upon, and as she witness her son wield this power, Maya discovered the beauty of the fragile world.

In Maya's eyes, those on the verge of their destruction and annihilation are the most beautiful.

That's why, though Maya was disappointed of her son's limitations, she was absolutely proud of her son's magic.

The magic of her son is the most breathtaking sight in her eyes.

Revenge

Although emotions for Maya are nothing more than data that she could freely manipulate at will, she still held hatred towards the Dahan for what they did to her.

She still remembered how they treated her like a pig and for their hand in her father's death.

She did not forget and she hated the entire country of Dahan Country, as well as those who were born in the country.

Henceforth, Maya treated them with such vindictive discrimination.

For more than a decade, Maya had waited for an opportunity to get her revenge on the country that had humiliated her, and the opportunity presented itself in the form of her son.

Politically and legally, Maya could not touch the Dahan due to their affiliation to the Great Asian Alliance. This also extends to the Yotsuba Clan.

Maya had cursed the seize fire between Japan and the Great Asian Alliance.

Maya could not touch them, but her son could.

Her son, Tsuyoru Tatsuya, did not have any records, he was not officially a descendant of the Yotsuba, yet, and most important, he was not even supposed to exist.

Therefore, her son attacking the Dahan in her steed was perfect.

Tatsuya, although knowing his mother's side of the story but disliking the concept of revenge, submitted to his mother's will and allowed himself to become his mother's personal tool in her discriminatory crusade against the Dahan.

Tatsuya thought that it was a son's duty to obey their mother as long as it will not cause him harm.

In the span of five years since Tsuyoru Tatsuya's deployment, an Urban Legend emerged from the country of Dahan. The legend pertains of a Silver Ghost that brought tragedy upon tragedy to their small country.

Dragon

Dragons, at their very nature, are territorial and protective of their treasure.

That is why the sight before Maya was both endearing and amusing.

A group of foreign magicians, Maya did not care of their nationality, broke through the defense of her security, and they were all ready to strike her down.

The security of the Yotsuba Primary Estate was topnotch. Entering the primary abode of the Yotsuba Clan uninvited is similar to diving into a meat grinder or a wood chipper headfirst. They would die at best or would be subdued at the very worst.

Still, the security maybe formidable but it is not perfect.

No security is perfect, and no defense cannot be broken.

There are a few skilled, lucky, and/or prepared enough to break through the security of the Yotsuba Main Estate.

And by breaking through the security, they would reach the feet of the Queen of Night, and this would grant them a chance, no matter how slim, to dispose of the Queen of Night.

Unfortunately, there was an added defense to Yotsuba Maya's life, a defense that no one knows, a defense that is almost impossible to break.

The moment those magicians emerged uninvited to her throne room, they were greeted with a Dragon-shaped Astral Beast as well as the sight of a boy sleeping on the lap of Yotsuba Maya.

That was the last sight they saw as the dragon devoured them.

And the haunting, melodic laugh of the Demon accompanied them to hell.

Genius

Between mother and son, there was one glaring similarity between Maya and Tatsuya, and this similarity was also a glaring difference between the duo.

Maya and Tatsuya, are geniuses. It might be in a different degree and a different aspect, but they are geniuses in their own way.

But there is a difference in their brilliance.

Yotsuba Maya was a genius born out of necessity and out of a tragedy.

Tsuyoru Tatsuya was a genius born and was created from a sin.

And, in a way, that makes all the difference.

Demon

After the tragedy of her childhood, Yotsuba Maya became a demon.

After the Dahan incident, Maya abandoned her humanity.

This resulted into her become one of the most powerful magician in the world.

It dawn to Maya that humanity is nothing more than a useless shackle, something that would only limit her, something that would prevent her from becoming strong, from gaining power.

As she set aside her humanity, Maya became awe-inspiringly strong that she had transcended those who cling to their humanity with such desperation that it made her laugh.

Humanity, who needs it. Not her, never her.

By abandoning her humanity, she became a demon and that elevated her to heights that she would have never reach with something as humanity weighing her down.

But, the day she abandoned her humanity was the day she became fully alone.

No one could understand her.

The stronger she gets, the fewer the people who could understand her.

The weak could not, would never understand those stronger than them.

And Maya knew this first hand.

As she grew, those that she considered her friends disappeared as they could not follow her as she transcends.

Those that crossed her cowered for they could not comprehend her strength.

Her own sister, her own family disappeared in her world as they could not reach her feet in terms of power.

As she transcends, Maya was alone.

For over three decades, Maya was completely alone.

Maya was a Demon and she has no kin.

But Tatsuya's birth change that.

Her son was like her and unlike her.

He was a demon.

He was not made a demon like her.

He was born a demon.

Still, regardless of the circumstance, he was still a demon.

And Maya cherish that.

The day Tatsuya was born was the day Maya had finally found company in her world.

In the end, only Demons can understand each other, and the pair of them are Demons in every way, shape, and form.

Fear

Fear is what motivates men.

Fear is the root of the love of Tsuyoru Tatsuya and Yotsuba Maya.

They love each other, as both mother and son should.

But the love that they have for each other stemmed from their fear for each other.

They feared each other.

Maya knew that her son was loyal to her but only to an extent.

Tatsuya knew that as valuable as he is, he is still expandable and threat in his mother's eyes.

They knew what the other is fully capable of and they knew that they are capable of killing each other if it comes to it.

Death might be their constant companion; they may not fear death, but death is something that they are not prepare to embrace

They knew that if they confront each other, one of them will lose their lives, and the two of them fear that confrontation more than they fear defeat.

And that fear is what made them love each other much more.

God

No one with a blood of a Yotsuba would believe in God.

Believing in God, in the eyes of the Yotsuba, is a sign of weakness.

Weakness is not tolerated in the Yotsuba.

Tatsuya and Maya, as the proper Yotsuba that they are, they do not believed in God.

In a way, they spit on the concept of religion and they spit on every God of every religion in the world.

For both Tatsuya and Maya, the concept of Gods is ridiculous.

After all, if there is a God, Maya should not have given birth to Tatsuya.

Tatsuya should not have existed.

A being capable of destroying the creations of Gods should not have been born.

Yet, Tatsuya exist, and his existence is the proof that Gods don't exist.

(PREVIEW of Chapter 8 of Prince of Yotsuba)

(Miyuki POV)

There are so many questions running through my head.

Like, what is my Tatsuya-kun doing in Okinawa?

I could still remember inviting him to Okinawa and I can recall the fact that he rejected my invitation, due to his mother requiring his presence for something.

Why is he here in a party that is being hosted by Oji-sama?

I know Mitsugu-ojisama, and though I consider him to be silly and over-the-top, I know for a fact that he will never conduct business with someone like my Tatsuya-kun.

Tatsuya-kun does not have any charisma to speak of, but he can intimidate anyone he pleases to submit to his will with ease.

It is part of his adorable charm.

Where did he came from?

How I did not notice him is beyond me? Having known him for almost four years now, I have become adept in detecting my beloved. It is actually easy. Regardless of his uncanny ability of avoiding notice, noticing him is actually an easy task.

If you noticed a large and unnecessary gap, Tatsuya-kun is probably nearby. My beloved has the ability of being scary without him actually trying.

Why is he here?

I may not know how my boyfriend and his family operate, but I know enough. Every move and appearance my beloved makes has a purpose. According to him, his mother uses him as a central figure for her scare tactics or as a form of insurance.

Him being here, either something came up that requires his attention or something big will happen tonight.

There are many other questions in the back of my mind that I would like to asked him, but, right here, right now, those questions are meaningless. Now that he is with me, holding my hand and leading me to dance floor, I could not help but consider those questions as irrelevant.

Now that he is with me, everything became irrelevant.

The moment my beloved Tatsuya-kun appeared before me, everything before me became irrelevant.

My cousins who I loved dearly, my Oji-sama who I respect, my Okaa-sama who I cherish, and the numerous men and women that may or may not be part of the Yotsuba Family's back pocket, they became irrelevant in my eyes.

The only one relevant in my eyes is the one holding my hand.

My beloved Tatsuya-kun.

To see him after days of separation, I could feel my heart soaring, I could feel my heart singing in joy.

I miss him. I truly miss him.

The feeling of his hand on mine, the monstrous presence that never fails to envelop and intoxicate me, his cold piercing blue eyes, and his stoic and unchanging expression, I miss everything about him.

Looking at his face, I smiled at the peculiar light in his eyes.

I am delighted that I can inspire such a strong and positive emotion in him. To have such an effect on him, nothing can make me happier.

His grip was strong, not strong enough to hurt me (he will never hurt me), as usual. I held onto his hand as tightly as I could. The feeling of his hand on mine, the warmth I received from his hand, I could not get enough of this sensation. I sometimes think that I can never let him go.

As Tatsuya-kun led me through the dance floor and I almost laugh as people parted like the red sea to make way for us. Consciously or unconsciously, whether they noticed him or not, they are getting out of their way to make a path for Tatsuya-kun, and in a way, for me as well.

People even stumbled as we walked by and their expression of not knowing why was simply amusing.

It was a sight to behold, truly it was. I've gotten used to my boyfriend's unique presence and aura, but his effect on people on an instinctual level never gets old.

My boyfriend is an intimidating man.

When Tatsuya-kun led me away from the dance floor, I could not help but smile in anticipation and excitement. I am not surprised that he refuses for us to mingle with this crowd. My boyfriend is not good in dealing with large crowds, especially when it comes to me, and the two of us are private lovers, all things consider.

Our entire school and my immediate family might be aware that the two of us are dating and we might constantly held hands whenever we are in public, as well as share a couple of kiss and hugs here and there, but the two of us always prefers the sanctuary of ours own rooms whenever we choose to be intimate. Without any eyes looking at us, with just the two of us, that is our paradise.

Most of our dates take place in private rooms or isolated areas, even when we are in public. We always go to places that are far away from prying eyes.

When we are together, he did not want to share my attention with anyone, and I share the sentiments.

We are both possessive and territorial lovers, and our relationship works that way.

Exiting the ballroom, we set foot in a terrace.

My eyes instantly went to the skies. There were no lights in the terrace but the stars were gleaming beautifully and moon was shining brilliantly in the center of the sky. The moons and stars were enough to illuminate the entire terrace.

It was an enchanting night.

I closed my eyes and I enjoyed the feeling of the cold wind prickling my skin. The cold embraced me and I smiled in delight.

The sound of the door being close and lock sent goosebumps throughout my body.

I did not move a muscle as I felt a pair of strong arms being wrapped around my body.

He is so warm.

I would always prefer the cold but the warmth of my beloved, I can never get enough of it.

His warmth is not that of a safe haven. No, the warmth of my beloved is that of a roaring flame that can destroy and devour anything it touches.

Everything, except for me.

Sighing contently, I relaxed and allowed myself to melt in his embrace.

"I miss this." I whispered blissfully.

"I share your sentiments." There was a spark of life and joy in his voice, something that was normally absent in his usual way of speaking.

This voice of is reserve for me.

Sighing once more, I moved my arms upwards and wrapped them around his neck and before pulling his head downwards so that our cheeks could touch.

I know it is improper for a Yotsuba to have someone that is not named Yotsuba Maya to have so much power over my being but, ever since I our first kiss, I could never deny my urges when it comes to my boyfriend.

I am truly and irrevocably in love with him.

"I am so going to get harass by my cousins after tonight." I mumbled before showering his right cheek with light kisses.

"I can get rid of those two, if you like." There was a hitch and a huskiness in his voice that excited me.

I enjoy enticing such raw emotions in him.

This is proof that I as well can influence him, as he does me.

"No, I like those two. They are comparably tolerable and likeable when compare to my other cousins." Being one of the possible heir (heiress), I certainly earned the ire of all the Branch Family heads, especially after my performances during one of Obaa-sama's evaluations.

"Pity, I did not like how that boy was looking at you."

I chuckled at that admission. "Jealous." I teased and I felt his body tensing for just a millisecond.

"I have zero intentions of letting you go." He told me and I was very relieved at those words. "And yes, I was quite jealous. You know me. When it comes to you, I am an irrational creature."

He is so honest it is adorable.

"I also do not intend to let you go." I replied with complete honesty. "And honestly, My Love, do not be jealous. Fumiya-kun is too childish for my taste, and he is also my cousin."

Sorry Fumiya-kun, but in my eyes, my Tatsuya-kun is many times more appealing than any male in this world.

"I still do not like how he looks at you."

So adorable!

I chuckled light heartedly as my beloved showed me a side of him that he rarely shows.

"My love, I am yours." Those words that I utter held so much truth that it almost scared me. "Now, did you not ask me to dance?"

I turned around to face him and gave him a smile that is hopefully flirtatious and a bit seductive.

I can make my boyfriend smile and laugh, easily, but my goal, my one of many goals in my relationship with him is to make him blush.

He can make me blush easily, without any real effort in his part, but I have never made him blush before.

And I had tried to make him blush before, and I would rather not recall the many things I've tried to make him fluster, especially that lingerie that Sakurai-san gave me three months in our relationship.

As usually, as always, he didn't blush.

It was disappointing. Maybe my smile wasn't seductive and flirtatious enough or maybe my dress wasn't pretty enough.

All thoughts vanished in my mind as I felt his hold tightening before the sensation of his lips touching mine invaded my entire being.

My entire body shivered. My mind became black. My heart beat increase to a level that is not considered normal or healthy. All my blood went to my head. My entire body blush as all my hair stood up as if electricity course through my body.

Without me willing my body, I used all my strength to pull him closer to me while my body leaned towards him, deepening our kiss, all for me to drown myself to the sensation of our kiss.

With a single kiss, I have willingly and unconsciously surrender my very being to him.

And I desperately want him to take me.

I don't know how long we kiss. I don't actually care as I would rather have him kiss me for the entire night but when we finally parted, I could feel my legs quivering and I think that I moan in disappointment at the absent of his lips on mine.

My Tatsuya-kun chuckled before taking one of my hands with one of his own before loosening his embrace around my waist.

"I did."

It always gives me joy whenever I hear him speak. For him to use such a warm tone when speaking to me is nothing short of blissful.

Still, that smile that he is wearing right now should be outlawed. My God, that smile is making my heartbeat pulse quicker than it normally should.

Chuckling slight and composing myself, I loosen my embrace on his neck so that we can waltz more easily, before flashing him a smile of my own.

"Lead," I told him coyly.

Smiling in amusement, Tatsuya led me to a waltz that would forever be engrave in my mind.

With the breeze of the wind as our music, and the stars and moon as our lights, the waltz that we share is better than any dream that I could ever imagine.

This is heaven.
