All characters and other things belong to the author of The Selection, Kiera Cass, I DO NOT OWN IT.

I was eating breakfast in my room when I heard a knock at the door. Quickly I pulled my robe on, as I was still in the nightgown, and opened to door to the smiling face of Prince Maxon.

"Hello, my dear." he said. "I have to ask you something."

"Anything, Maxon." I replied inviting him in the room. As if natural, he walked in and sat on my bed.

"Do you like the idea of gray silk sheets or blue. I like the blue." Maxon asked me. "Well I like the blue but I don't know why you're asking me, Maxon." A smile, no a smirk, formed on his face. "Well, we have to agree on sheets when we share a bed." he said. At first I didn't understand what he meant, but then he pulled out a small red velvet box and opened it while getting on one knee.

"America, I started falling in love with you when you yelled at me on the lawn. Will you do the honors and marry me?" Tears of joy formed in my eyes and I nodded.

" Yes Maxon, of course!" He slid the ring on my finger and I wrapped my arms around his neck. Everything was perfect, but then Aspen walked in and ruined the moment.

"Oh, I see." He said "I'll be leaving now. Sorry Your Highness, Lady America.". I saw a tear fall down his cheek as he left the room. I pulled away from Maxon , and told him that Aspen had been the boy who broke my heart, my first love.

Maxon looked into my eyes, his face filled with nothing but happiness, and said "America, it does not matter what happened between you and him before, all that matters it that you're going to spend the rest of your life with me, in my arms."

His speech filled my eyes with tears of joy, and I jumped into his arms. He swung me around, set me down, and gave me the most amazing kiss we've ever shared. We broke away from each other, solely for air, and stood with our foreheads touching, without a care in the world. All that mattered was us, that's all that will ever matter to me. "Now" Maxon said, "All we have to do it plan the wedding…and tell the country...and my father.". That last person caused me to give Maxon a little glare, but it didn't last long. Even if his father was angry, I won't let him hurt Maxon, and there's no way in Hell that Maxon would let his father hurt me.
