Hey guys, not much to say but… Here's A Wolf's Tale Chapter 13. Oh, and I've decided on Zeke's voice actor. It'll be Drew Nelson, the voice of Duncan from the Total Drama series. Just imagine Zeke with Duncan's voice. Anyway, here's chapter 13.
"Zeke, I think you really hurt Zoe's feelings" Sugar Sprinkles said to her friend as they witnessed the female dog run off in tears.
"Zoe's always dramatic like this. She'll be fine" Zeke rolled his eyes.
"Go check up on her" Sugar Sprinkles told him, placing a paw on his shoulder. Zeke gave her an unsure look. "Go see how she's doing" she said.
Zeke sighed. The wolf stood and walked towards the doggie door that connected to the main lobby. He looked to see Blythe standing behind the booth and Zoe lying on the counter in front of her, sobbing as Blythe rubbed her back. Zeke listened in on their conversation.
"It'll be ok, Zoe. I'm sure Zeke didn't mean it" Blythe said in a comforting tone.
"I… *sob*… I just *sob*… can't believe he said that…" Zoe choked through sobs. "I thought that *sniff*… we'd eventually have something special" she as tears ran down her cheeks.
Zeke sighed and head back into the day camp. He walked up to Sugar Sprinkles with his head low.
"So?" Sugar Sprinkles raised an eyebrow.
"You were right, I DID hurt her feelings. And now she's crying and junk" Zeke told her, rolling his eyes.
"You bet she's crying" the two friends looked to see Blythe approaching them, bending down to their level. "Zeke, what did you say to her?"
"Well, I didn't really say anything to her, but she overheard something I said…" Zeke began, Blythe narrowed her eyes and raised eyebrow. "Basically I said I'd rather drink poison than date her… and I called her a weirdo" he confessed.
"Ezekiel Alexander Baxter, I'm surprised at you!" Blythe crossed her arms with a disappointed look.
"Seriously? This is the thing I've done that surprises you?" Zeke asked.
"Zeke, you made Zoe cry. I know you didn't mean to, but you really hurt her" Blythe told him.
"I know, I know!" Zeke yelled. "I know I made Zoe upset. Geez, you two are making me feel like a jackass. Like I want to throw up for what I did" Zeke said, looking at the ground.
"Yeah, that called guilt, Zeke" Sugar Sprinkles said.
"How do I make it go away?" Zeke asked, clenching his stomach.
"You have to make up with Zoe" Sugar Sprinkles told him.
"Fine. I'll go talk to her and apologize" Zeke began to walk away, only for Blythe to stop him in his tracks. She bent down and lifted him up to her chest.
"I think it's going to take more than that for her to forgive you, Zeke" Blythe said.
"What should I do then?" the wolf raised an eyebrow.
"Actions speak louder than words. You have to show Zoe you're sorry" Blythe told him before adding, "I know you're not going to like this, but you have to take Zoe out on a date"
"You're right, I don't like that" Zeke said with an annoyed expression.
"You want Zoe to forgive you, don't you?" Sugar Sprinkle asked.
"Yeah…" Zeke replied skeptically.
"Then take her out on a date. You might even enjoy it" Blythe said as she petted Zeke's head.
"This had better work…" Zeke muttered under his breath.
Blythe's Apartment…
"So, you actually managed to convince Zoe to come up here and have dinner?" Zeke asked as Blythe brushed his hair.
"Yeah, I told her that you wanted to make it up to her. She said she's up for it as long as you're nice to her" Blythe told him.
"I can try" Zeke said, "Where are we having dinner anyway?"
"Here in our apartment. I cleared it with Dad and Zoe's owners" Blythe said as she sprayed Zeke's neck with pine scented cologne, "And done"
"How do I look?" Zeke asked, showing off his outfit.
He was wearing a navy-blue t-shirt underneath a black leather jacket, his signature spiked collar still around his neck.
"You look handsome, Zeke. Very handsome" Blythe smiled, scratching him affectionately under his chin.
At that moment they heard the sound the dumbwaiter door opening. The two of looked to see none other than Zoe in the dumbwaiter. She was wearing a baby blue dress with a matching sash around the waist and a pearl necklace around her neck. She had her hair tied into a bun with her bangs sticking out.
"There's your date" Blythe whispered to Zeke with a playful nudge. "Hey Zoe" she greeted the doggie diva.
"Hello Blythe" Zoe smiled at the teenage girl.
"Hey Zoe. You're looking lovely this evening" Zeke sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.
"Hmph!" Zoe turned her nose up at him, "Let's just have this dinner and be done with it. Once it's over we never have to speak to each other again" she said to the wolf, flicking his nose with her tail as she walked past him.
"This is gonna be a long-ass night…" Zeke said with a shake of his head.
Exiting Blythe's bedroom, Zeke and Zoe made their way to the kitchen. Upon entering, they saw a pet sized table in front of the human sized table, complete with pet sized chairs and a lit candle.
"Zeke Baxter, Zoe Trent, welcome to your dinner date" Blythe said. Then out came Sugar Sprinkles. "I'll be your chef and waiter this evening"
"And I'll be your musical entertainment" Sugar Sprinkles chimed in, pulling out her ukulele (although it was probably a guitar in her hands).
"Thanks, you two" Zeke said.
Blythe then showed them to their table. Zeke pulled out a seat and offered it to Zoe. Zoe, however, turned it down and sat in the other chair. Zeke sighed and sat in the seat he had offered Zoe. There was an awkward moment of silence between the two canines. That's when Zeke got an idea.
"Psst! Hey, Blythe" Zeke called, getting his attention as she bent down to his level. He put his muzzle close to her ear and whispered his plan to her.
"Coming right up, sir" Blythe said, scratching him behind the ear as she went into the kitchen. Turning his attention back to his date, Zeke cleared his throat and spoke up.
"So, you do anything interesting lately?" Zeke asked Zoe.
"Yeah, I got my feelings hurt by the jerk I used to think was cute. How's that for interesting?" she replied sarcastically and gave him a fake smile, before quickly giving him a deadpan expression.
Zeke sighed, "Look, Zoe, I'm really trying to make this up to you" he told her.
"Here's your order. One large order of spaghetti and meatballs" Blythe placed a huge plate of spaghetti and meatballs in front of the two canines.
"I doubt there's anything you can say to make it up to me, Zeke" Zoe looked away, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Well, maybe I can do something instead. How's this…" he offered a meatball to her by rolling it to the top with his nose. Zoe saw this out of the corner of her eyes.
"Well…" she turned to him with a light smirk, "I guess it's a start" she leaned in and took a bite out of their shared dinner, eating the meatball that was offered to her. Zeke gave a sigh of relief, and then took a bite of food as well.
"How about some music for the… two good friends" Sugar Sprinkles offered, knowing full well that Zeke and Zoe weren't exactly a couple.
The two of them nodded in confirmation. Sugar Sprinkles began strumming a tune on her ukulele/guitar. She then began to sing.
Sugar Sprinkles: Oh, this is the night. It's a beautiful night, and we call it bella notte.
Zeke and Zoe smiled.
Sugar Sprinkles: Look at the sky, they have stars in their eyes on this lovely bella notte.
The two canines each took a bite out of their shared meal.
Sugar Sprinkles: Side by side with your loved one, you'll find enchantment here.
Zeke and Zoe kept eating, unaware of the single string of pasta that was connected. That is, until they were caught off guard by their lips connected in a kiss, surprising them. Zoe slowly pulled away, shyly turning her head with an embarrassed blush. Meanwhile Zeke gave a nervous smile.
Sugar Sprinkles: The night will weave its magic spell, when the one you love is near!
Zeke placed his paw on top of Zoe's. Zoe smiled warmly at the wolf.
Sugar Sprinkles: Oh, this is the night, and the heavens are right! On this lovely bella notte!
Zoe scooted closer to Zeke and place her head on his shoulder, nuzzling against the crook of his neck. Zeke tilted his head and nuzzled against Zoe. All the while, their tails were lightly wagging. Blythe and Sugar Sprinkles couldn't help but smile at the scene.
"So, do you forgive me now?" Zeke asked.
"I might. There's something else that I want though" Zoe replied, gazing into his eyes.
"What's that?" Zeke tilted his head.
Zoe placed her paw on top of his, "I want to know more about you. You've been at Littlest Pet Shop for awhile now and the other pets and I hardly know a thing about you"
"What do you want to know?" he asked.
"Well, for starters, what do you really think about me?" Zoe asked. An embarrassed blushed crept across the wolf's face. A few seconds passed, and Zeke cleared his throat.
"Well, Zoe, I think…" Zeke began, looking at his date straight in the eyes before sighing, "I think you're a cool girl. You have an amazing sense of style and you're a very talented show dog and singer" he told her.
"So, you didn't mean what you said earlier?" Zoe raised an eyebrow.
"No, that was just me in one of my moods" Zeke rubbed the back of his head, "I'm sorry for saying and even more sorry for hurting your feelings" he told her. Zoe smiled. "As for the other pets, they're-"
"Shh!" Zoe cut him off, placing a paw over his mouth, "Tonight, it's just about us"
Zeke smiled underneath Zoe's paw. She must've moisturized because her paw felt very soft. That aside though, Zeke was enjoying this little date. As much as he'd hate to admit it, Blythe was right.
"Time for desert. Zeke's favorite treat: bacon wrapped, sausage flavored cupcakes" Blythe placed a huge cupcake in front of them.
"You take the first bite" Zoe offered.
"No, you, I insist. Ladies first" Zeke offered back.
"What a gentleman" Zoe placed a paw on her cheek. The female dog leaned in and took a bite out of the top corner of the treat, "Mmm. Not bad" Zoe said, licking her lips.
The two canines dug in and each took bites of their shared desert. They ate the bacon around the cupcake, as well the sausage bits within it. But their favorite part was the brown frosting (it was vanilla, but Blythe used brown food coloring to make it look like chocolate) with chunks of meatball on top. When they were done, they had gotten bits of frosting on their muzzles.
"Heh, you got a little something…" Zeke took a napkin and wiped the frosting off the sides of Zoe's muzzle.
"So, do you. Here, let me…" Zoe leaned in. Rather than use a napkin, Zoe instead used her tongue and licked the frosting off Zeke's muzzle, making the wolf chuckle.
Meanwhile, Blythe was watching the little moment between Zeke and Zoe, Sugar Sprinkles sitting her lap watching along with her.
"Well, looks like those two made up pretty fast" Sugar Sprinkles commented.
"I had a feeling Zoe couldn't stay mad at Zeke for very long" Blythe added.
For the rest of their date the two canines chatted, talking to each other about their lives and finding common interests. They laughed at each other's jokes and had fun enjoying each other's company. All and all, they were having a great time.
The next day…
It was a new day at Littlest Pet Shop. Each of the pets were going about their daily routine, with Zoe doing poses and looking at herself in the mirror. That's when she noticed a familiar wolf coming up to her.
"Zeke?" she turned to him.
"Uh, hey Zoe" he greeted her. "Listen, I had an awesome time hanging out with you the other night" he told her.
"So did I. It was really fun" Zoe smiled, a light wag of her tail.
"So, if you're not too busy, maybe we can go another date sometime. You know, a real one, no strings attached. What do you say?" Zeke offered, nervously rubbing the back of his head.
"Hmm, I'd say…" Zoe looked of the side, pretending to think, "Sure, I'd love to go another date with you"
"Cool" Zeke smiled.
Zoe walked up to him and planted a kiss upon his cheek, before walking past him, running her tail underneath his chin. Zeke looked over his shoulder to see her shoot him a quick, flirtatious gaze and a smirk to boot. This caused Zeke to smirk in turn. At that moment he felt heart begin to beat fast like a freight train, which was new. Whoa… was this how Zoe felt about him? Was he…
Falling for Zoe?
And there's the end of Chapter 13. A little Lady and the Tramp reference in there. Hope you all enjoyed it.
I'm not counting the spaghetti scene as their first kiss in this timeline since it was by accident on their part.
I'd like to thank Leifj2009 and Foxchick1 for helping me with this chapter.
