CHAPTER 20 – Discoveries
Oliver led Canary into the lab, she kept up flank as Oliver moved up to Adam. "Adam." "Hhm." Adam acknowledge Oliver distantly. "We are leaving to Queen Consolidated some office work needs addressing. I'm leaving Canary here to watch Roy. Thea is coming with us." Oliver informed. "Uh huh." Adam replied.
Oliver unsure whether Adam really had heard looked to Canary who shrugged, he then glanced over to Roy who was laid back eyes closed. Deciding he just wanted to deal with QC he turned back to Canary, "You good here?" he asked. "Go I'll deal with Roy." Nodding his affirmative he stalked from the room. Canary took up a spot near the door and leaned against the wall watching Roy and Adam.
2pm rolled around and Shalimar appeared in the doorway. She entered the lab staring accusingly at Canary as she went a few paces before turning her attention to Adam. She gently laid her hand on Adam's shoulder to get his attention without scaring him. "Lunch us ready." She quietly told him. He moved his face away from the microscope, blinked rapidly a few times before turning to focus on Shalimar. "Okay thanks I will be there in a moment. Can you wake Roy up while I…" Adam replied but was cut off before he could finish. "I'm awake. Do I get to move now? Please? Say I can get up I'm so bored." Both Adam and Shalimar chuckled.
Adam started to pack away his slides. "How do you feel?" He asked. Shalimar moved over to Roy's side and Canary remained in her spot only now she was standing poised for action rather than leaning against the wall. "I\'m good, feel great only I'm STARVING!" He wined. Shalimar chuckled again at that. "Alright." Adam replied half distracted. Roy threw the blanket back but as he tried to jump straight up Shalimar put both her hands on his shoulders and kept him seated.
"Let's get these things off you." She said and gently peeled the monitor pads from his brow and chest. "Ow." He complained. "Here I was thinking you were a strong man." She jested. Roy feeling a little deflated tried to impress he puffed his chest out subconsciously and knowingly deepened his voice. "I am it just surprised me how sticky they are." Shalimar full blown laughed as she glanced over her shoulder and saw Roy. Turning back she finished putting the pads away for later.
"Come on tough guy foods getting cold." She called over her shoulder friendly until she drew level to Canary. "I guess you will be joining us." She said coldly. "I'm only here to watch Roy if he goes like Slade I know how to take him down." Canary snapped back. At her words Roy felt hurt and betrayed he thought Sara was his friend. Then he rationalized that she was right on one level he didn't want to turn into a psycho like Slade. Shalimar was taken aback at the coldness of the statement they had never given up on anyone except well Ashlocke but he was a complete nut job. She was about to fight back when Roy had her upper arm, she almost threw him over herself at the action. "Ladies now no fighting over me I'm a taken man and starving to Shalimar lead the way." He gently pushed Shalimar to the door and kept Canary behind. Adam followed the group having finished clearing away.
During lunch Roy reflected on his mood before and after Canary's comment. He hadn't lost his temper towards her where previously he would have and before that he couldn't feel the usual bubbling anger in him. He gave himself a little cheer believing what Adam had done must have worked so far.
When everyone had finished eating Adam got to his feet. "Shalimar, Brennan and Emma do you think you can put Roy through his paces see if he can keep his head. All his vitals and blood work are fine, he just needs a test now, is that alright with you Roy and Canary?" Canary just shrugged she'd watch and stop Roy if he lost it, she didn't want to get too close to the others they maybe helping and helped a lot till now but Ivo's stories about them still echoed in her mind. Roy excitedly cheered. "Yeah I'm game, just don't ask me to shoot a bow I suck at that still." He joked. The room sang with laughter towards Roy. "No Roy I think that is defiantly Oliver's area of expertise. Come on we will show you how to fight properly." Brennan quipped.
Brennan and Shalimar put Roy through his paces. Firstly they taught him basic moves and increasing the complexity as he grasped them. Canary watched form her spot near the equipment trolley by the door as Roy focused on both mentors and practiced. He seemed to have lost his frustrations about being a student that he had had when Oliver was first training him. When he came across the first maneuver that was tricky for him he cursed and vented typical frustration however he remained control of his faculties. No pure rage, no losing himself his eyes kept their life in them. Promising she thought.
Before the training had commenced Emma had replaced the temple monitor on Roy to track his vital signs. Emma had placed herself in the corner of the room as far away from Canary as possible and assumed a meditative seated stance. She relaxed her barriers and focused on Roy's empathic signature so she could judge his mood reactions. It was very difficult on her as Canary had such an overwhelming conflict of emotions that was stifling but she battled on. They were here to help Roy now she would try to help Canary later.
The time flew by as Shalimar and Brennan pushed Roy in sparing duels one on one trying to take him down and drive him to reach a point of frustration or anger. They never used their complete strengths against him that would have been completely unfair on the untrained youngster but they still gave him thrashing after thrashing.
Eventually Shalimar called it quits to take five for fluid and she decided to try a different tactic. When they had shown the boys the meditative flow Roy couldn't settle into it he was like a charged gyro never stopping. If he truly was calmer now he should find his centre within the moves. The trio drank hungrily from their bottles before Shalimar voiced her idea to Roy.
"Sure I'm game anything to test me." He replied. Inside he knew it had worked he remembered how volatile his temper had been, only a mere thought of wanting to be angry started that slippery slope to losing himself. Today was different he not only felt positive but even as he struggled to grasp moves he would feel frustrated but not angry. When the sparring started and his ass was repeatedly handed to him still the anger never surfaced just determination to try harder. He had noticed that his once uncontrollable strength seemed to be missing maybe it was because he didn't want to hurt Brennan and Shalimar his subconscious was holding him back.
As he joined in the flowing moves Shalimar was demonstrating he felt calm wash over him. He felt how his body moved as he told it to copy Shalimar's. He felt connected to himself. Then he stopped thinking and just flowed as Shalimar flowed. Roy was lost in his unthinking state of calm and happiness. For the first time in his life he was okay, in love with Thea who returned the love and he knew where he belonged with his friends and a team that felt like family. Nothing could go wrong or so he thought.
Shalimar's movements abruptly stopped at the same time as Emma's eyes opened and Brennan jerked forward from his slouched back seating position. All of mutant X had received a message on their comms and it wasn't good.
Jesse had been working hard on tracing their digital intruder. He knew it was Slade and after Felicity's appearance he knew it was part of a plan to set Oliver up, for what he didn't know. It did mean he could trace Slade and get a location then they could do their own setup and stop him once and for all.
The computer was closing in, whoever taught Slade or worked for him was good but he was better.
The security flagged up movement and Jesse checked the perimeter cameras. A car was pulling up to the garage door, it looked like Oliver's Bentley. Jesse set the system to notify Adam's compact device if it reached its conclusion before he returned. Then he set off to the garage unaware of what awaited him.
PAUSE
Diggle drive into the garage at the orphanage. As he stopped the car he saw Jesse in the entryway and he turned the engine off and tried to exit the car. He got as far as trying to stand before the floor rushed up to meet him.
"Next he heard Jesse calling him. He was confused he remembered facing the floor but now as he struggled to open his eyes there was light shining into them.
"Diggle. Come on open your eyes and answer me. What happened?" Jesse's concerned voice broke into John's foggy mind. What had happened he thought trying to remember.
He had driven to the Queen estate and waited with the car on lookout while Oliver, Thea and Felicity ventured inside. About half hour later a pickup pulled up behind the car and Slade emerged. Diggle immediately tried to take him on and protect his friends inside but he took a beating instead. The last he remembered was being thrown into the wing of the Bentley knocking the air out of him and hitting his head hard.
He had woken up on the driveway lying next to the wheel. Clumsily and in pain he had risen to his feet. The pickup was gone. Adrenalin flooded his system blocking out the pain as he remembered who the pickup had brought. He ran inside and did a sweep of the entire house it was empty of all the Queen's and Felicity. Rasia was in he kitchen unconscious on the floor, he left her there and phoned for an ambulance as he headed back to the car. He informed the still active security detail currently patrolling round the grounds of Rasia's condition in the kitchen before getting in the car and hurriedly driving to the only place he knew any help now remained.
John's eyes finally focused on the concerned face of Jesse. "Slade. Oliver. Felic. Th. M. Gone" John croaked out his energy waning as he struggled to get the names out and explain what had happened. As he whispered his last word he slipped back into unconsciousness.
Jesse started to check John over assessing what injuries he had as he placed him into the recovery position. All the while he was in contact with his own team and Adam.
Canary ever the observant one saw the reactions of the new mutants. "What is it?" She demanded. Brennan saw Shalimar bristle at the Canary's tone, he knew how much she distrusted her to he answered. "Your team mate Diggle is back." He looked to Roy judging his mood at the statement. The kid looked confused. "He's injured and alone." Brennan finished.
Canary went cold, Oliver, Felicity and Thea gone and John injured that could only mean one thing, Slade. Her attention focused solely on Roy and his reaction if anything was going to tip him over it would be Slade taking Thea.
Roy's brain processed what Brennan had said. Dig was back, he was happy that he could report back how well he had been doing. Then he noticed the look's on the other team's faces were not happy ones they were concerned and that confused him. Then the words injured and alone echoed around his mind and his world crashed around him. Why was Dig injured where were the others and Thea where was Thea. He had finally found a good place in his life, that couldn't be it for him could it a few brief moments of happiness. The anger welled but it was different he had full control of the anger it wasn't spiraling past his reasoning. But this time he wanted to be angry and lash out at Slade.
Without complete conscious thought Roy moved towards the door and at the questions directed towards him from the members of Mutant X he answered. "Going to get Thea back." Canary at once blocked his path. She was ready to stop him.
"Out of my way!" Roy demanded. "Your not thinking Roy. You go half cocked against Slade and you will be ensuring Thea's death sentence as well as Oliver's, Felicity's and your own."
"I can't sit here and do nothing while god knows what is happening to Thea." You will do exactly that, we don't know if you can keep your focus yet you've only proven…" Canary started to answer but her wording was like a red flag to a bull and Roy let his control go. "Proven what!? I've had y ass handed to me all afternoon, I've got back up and carried on. I put my all in and I know I'm fine I'm in control. Yes I am angry and pissed but look I am still me I am choosing to be this angry. Don't judge what you can't experience." Roy retorted he wanted to completely loose his cool now more than ever, Canary was just being awkward he could get past Slade. He moved to continue leaving and Canary stopped him with a hand on his chest and her whole body blocking his path.
Something snapped in Roy, like when he used to loose his temper pre-Mirakuru, he was stood on the edge and finally toppled over. Roy knew he was there but he didn't care he threw out his right arm to knock Canary aside. What happened was not what Roy had imagined. Canary began to move backwards from Roy as she saw him move but she was seconds slower than him. His arm connected with her chest and she felt her whole body being pushed backwards and then free flying across the room. Time felt even slower as she went across the room she was so shocked that Roy had landed a hit and one that packed a punch she missed the time to react. Next thing she felt was her back and head connecting with something hard and the weightlessness abruptly stopped and she collapsed downward into a pile on the floor.
Roy's heavy breathing was the only sound in the room as he watched the unmoving form of Canary. As his breathing slowed the anger in him disappeared until there was only shock and guilt, he couldn't believe what he had done to his friend. Emma was the first to move over to Canary followed by Brennan while Shalimar moved to Roy. She cautiously approached until her eyes met with his and she saw the emotions running behind them. "It's okay, are you in control?" She tentatively asked and received a nod. "The whole time. I hurt my friend. I knew what I was doing. I wanted to strike out. I never thought I'd hit her she was always quicker than me." His voice sounded like a lost frightened child and it struck a cord with Shalimar's maternal side.
A groan disturbed the quiet in the room and Roy propelled himself towards Canary's side with Shalimar hot on his heels. "I'm sorry Sara, I… I didn't think I would hit you, you're always faster than me. I'm so." Before Roy could finish his sentence he was on his back with Canary straddling him pinning him to the ground with her hands round his throat. "You're a danger Roy, I told Oliver with Slade and now you. He couldn't put either of you down but I can and will."
Canary moved a hand to her jacket pocket. As she withdrew her hand the butt of a gun became visible. Brennan instantly jumped into action as he generated an electric current over his right hand and flicked it at Canary. Canary convulsed as she collapsed onto Roy before stilling.
Freaked out Roy scrambled from under Canary. "What the hell just happened?" He started to panic. Emma moved to his side sensing his spiraling emotions. Brennan and Shalimar exchanged glances as Jesse requested help through the comms. "Go I've got this." Shalimar said. Brennan nodded and jogged from the room.
"Emma placed a comforting hand on Roy's shoulder. "It's alright. Brennan just knocked her unconscious. Now to help you, what happened back then?" Emma asked. "I don't know. When I had the Mirakuru I was strong and fast but Oliver and Canary were always quicker than me during training. When Shalimar and Brennan were sparring with me I couldn't feel that strength so I assumed what Adam had done must have removed it. Before the Mirakuru I was always a hothead I would lose my temper often. I knew I was close to that point and I wanted to go back over that edge for the first time it was in my control to do it. I wanted to lash out and with never before hitting Canary I thought now would be the same I'd miss and calm back down. I was faster and stronger than before. I can't believe I hurt Canary she's my friend." Roy explained as best as he could. "She just tried to kill you. Do all your friends to that?" Shalimar snarked, she had put Canary into the recovery position and taken up a guarding stance over the unconscious form.
"But she thought I'd snapped. Slade was bad on the Island from what we have been told. I would rather be stopped than become like him. Lesson learnt anger is bad. Will she be okay?" "A sore head when she comes round. She will be back with us before we go after Slade. Why don't you go and see Diggle. I've got this covered." Shalimar offered. "Thanks." Roy replied. Emma guided Roy out of the room and towards the lab.
Ah hour later John was comfortably resting in the common area. He had been given a full checkup and Adam found a concussion and bruised ribs to be the severest of his injuries. Enough to keep him away from the action of the rescue now being planned. All of Mutant X, Roy and the now awake and grumpy assassin were dotted about the common room.
During Diggle's examination Adam's compact had notified that the computer programme tracing Slade's whereabouts had been successful. Now they were planning their moves to rescue the three members of the Queen family and Felicity. "The biggest issue we have is the Mirakuru in Slade." Adam started. "Brennan your voltage has to be extremely high to have any effect on him and it's not as effective then as a typical person. The sedative previously used is only short acting not long enough that if we can subdue Slade will keep him out of it while I alter his DNA. I ran every known medical sedative and only this one was anywhere near successful." Canary interrupted Adam. "Did you try Tibetan put viper venom? The league uses it. It's the most potent sedation I have ever seen." "Jesse." Adam's use of only his name conveyed what Adam wanted from Jesse who obliged. "On it." Jesse replied and he focused on the tablet that had been resting on his knees where he sat.
Adam next moved onto rolling out a thin plastic sheet over the table the group were crowded round. When it was flat he opened up his compact and after inputting some details the space above the sheet filled with a 3D hologram of a warehouse type building. "This is where Jesse tracked Slade's digital trail to. Since we found out the location we have had the building under surveillance and there has been no external movement. However when we go to infrared." Adam fiddled with his compact once more before the image of the warehouse changed to be translucent and seven red dots appeared within the buildings perimeter. "There are seven heat signatures being registered. Two of them have been moving within the building and the other five have remained inside one area." "Who else could be there only Oliver, Thea, Felicity and Moira were taken from the mansion but Slade so we have two unknowns." Diggle interjected. "Maybe security either way extra caution needs to be used when we enter. Now Brennan has been studying the building schematics so he will go through entry points and positioning." Adam finished he tapped on his compact again and the hologram changed into a blown out layered version of the warehouse depicting entry points.
"Building schematics shows there are multiple ways in but there is a chance the convention ways will be booby trapped so Jesse you are going to let us all in at this point." Brennan pointed to the mentioned spot which was on the ground level half way along the wall. "Inside this is a storage room so we should be undisturbed. We will spread out into groups and converge on the room in the centre where the majority of heat signatures seem to be stationary at. I want the groups as Shalimar and Roy, Jesse and Emma, Canary and me. We will take out the walking heat signatures on our way to the converge point. Adam will be monitoring from the Helix and relaying where to go and where the targets are. Is everyone okay with that plan?" Nods of agreement passed around the room. "Do you have a plan for administering the sedative?" Canary asked. "Not yet we will call that a work in progress until we leave." Brennan answered.
"Adam I've located the nearest Tibetan pit viper, the local zoo." Jesse announced. "Good you and Emma get over there and retrieve as much venom as you can. I will need to test its effectiveness before we go out and use it for real, there are enough of us in danger without more." "Right." Jesse agreed he stood and followed Emma out of the room. "Everyone else let's get ready. As soon as I confirm the venom works we are moving out." Adam said to the remaining individuals before heading out of the room and back to his lab. Brennan and Shalimar made their way out of the room shortly after Adam.
There was an awkward silence in the room between the three members of team arrow. John could feel it. "Alright you two out with it what's gone on?" Roy looked embarrassed and stared down at the floor like he was in trouble with the head master. Sara looked uncomfortable and stared at the wall away from John and Roy. "Roy." Dig's tone caused Roy to flinch he knew he would have to answer now. "I lost my cool when I heard Thea wasn't with you. Sara tried to stop me going off half cocked and I threw a punch and I thought I'd lost the Mirakuru enhanced abilities so I figured I'd miss. I didn't miss I sent Sara flying across the hall and then she tried to shoot me."
"You did WHAT!" John sounded furious. "I thought he'd gone psycho like Slade did after Shado's death. We don't need two of them." Sara reasoned. "I agree." Roy added. "It's a misunderstanding that Adam has now explained what he believes happened and what's now different with me." "You want to elaborate?" John asked. "Sure, I can try the science speak is as complicated as Felicity's techno babble." "Do you want me to Roy. Adam had words with me. I'm sorry I acted before questioning. It's a hard habit to break." Sara said. "No sweat, no harm done and sure." Roy replied.
"Roy's system had an imbalance of adrenaline and testosterone keeping him in a fight or flight state all the time. When his system sensed danger the levels increased so high and flooded his conscious thought giving the uncontrolled rage. When he had overcome the situation causing this spike his recovery system, already damaged, didn't function correctly to calm him down. Now the systems are working as they should but the Mirakuru enhancements only work with the high level of testosterone and adrenaline. The short of it is Roy has to lose his cool to be stronger, faster and we think heal. The stronger and faster abilities are more enhanced now than before." Diggle looked shocked, "So he didn't fix you?" "He did I am in control now I wanted to lash out and I thought Sara would dodge as she always does when we sparred before, I honestly didn't think I would catch her. During the sparring with Brennan and Shalimar I couldn't feel any of the strength and speed I used to have I thought it had all gone, if I knew I'd do what I did I seriously would have reconsidered. Adam said their hologram training system in the hall can simulate solid targets so I can practice before we head out so I'm going to do that now." "Alright just so long as you know what you are doing." John fathered Roy. "Yeah I do now. I'll catch you in a bit." Roy replied before racing from the room faster than a flash of lightening.
Three quarters of an hour later Diggle helped by Canary poked his head into the hall. Brennan and Shalimar were watching Roy. Roy was exchanging blows with that appeared to be Ninjas. He had two on the go. As Dig observed Roy would block one Ninjas blows and try to land his own and after a few exchanges he would land a blow that was hard enough to send the Ninja flying, then he would focus on the next Ninja and repeat.
Roy's movements would speed up and slow down erratically, when he seemed to be pushing Diggle struggled to focus on the moved and in the end called out. "Hey Roy, man don't move so fast I can't watch what you're doing." Roy adverted his attention towards Dig, gave a goofy smile before receiving a blow to his legs from one Ninja and falling flat on his back. The group watched as Roy grabbed the Ninja on his way down and using his feet launched him over and into the approaching Ninja. At the collision the Ninjas froze and their image pixilated before blocks fell to the floor in a dissolving effect. Roy remained on the floor resting in between catching his breath he called out to Diggle. "I was doing great until you distracted me." "All part of the training no distractions. I brought you something."
"Roy sat up to Dig's comment and Canary walked into the room with a red duffle bag and case. She placed it at Roy's feet who stared at it. "Open it man." Diggle called over, he was leaning heavily on the doorframe for support. Roy gingerly pulled back the zipper on the duffle bag and then slid a hand in grabbing what felt like leather and pulling at it. A red leather jacket emerged from the bag. Astonished Roy's head shot up to look at Dig. "Oliver knew you'd get there he was ready and I can see you are too. Now try the case."
Roy left the jacket on top of the duffle bag and grabbed for the case unclipping the catches then slowly the thumbed the lid back to reveal sections of a red recurve bow. Before he could look up Diggle's words reached him. "Get some practice in you might need it tonight." His voice sounded pained and Roy looked over to Diggle forgetting the bow, he saw Brennan there slipping himself under Diggle's arm and taking his weight. "Thanks Dig. I won't let you down." I know you won't, you haven't so far." Dig replied as Brennan helped him leave.
Roy looked at the bow, Oliver had tried to help him learn but he had been too impatient and now he couldn't recall anything that he had been told. He felt someone crouch next to him. "Need a hand?" Canary asked. "No." Roy tried the bravado answer he was hurt that she would think that but it quickly dissipated he knew he needed the help, Thea and the others needed him in his A game. "Yes please. I didn't listen properly before." He corrected shamefully.
Shalimar remained in the hall watching Roy and Canary interact. Canary had been a handful when she had come round after the fiasco earlier, she had reminded Shalimar of a scared child lashing out. Once they had calmed her down and explained about Roy she looked guilty before her cold masks erected again. Now though Shalimar saw a different side to Canary almost sisterly with Roy it finally softened her Feral dislike towards her.
When Roy had his bow assembled and quiver attached Shalimar started the projection simulator with archery targets at different positions and distances around Roy. "Thanks." He called over to her. She moved to the edge of the room away from the targets and watched the drama unfold.
Roy assembled the bow with a few minor corrections from Canary on the placement of the safety line and where the string should sit. Then he took out a handful of arrows and put them in the red leather quiver and attached it to his back. As he stood up with the bow and ready to start he watched as targets materialized from thin air, the same way the Ninjas had earlier. "Thanks." He said to Shalimar knowing she had started the simulator for him.
"Do you remember the stance positioning?" Canary asked. "Yeah." He picked a target ahead and turned side on to it. "Good now draw, aim and release." She said. Roy fumbled a bit but eventually pulled an arrow free from his quiver then placed it on the nocking point. He lined up the tail with the string, pulled back as he raised the bow. He put his string hand next to his ear and aimed the arrow at the target then after a few minutes of adjustments he released.
The arrow sailed past the target and imbedded itself in the wall. "Oh come on that was set as a bull's eye." He wined. "Draw again and this time place your index finger to the corner of your mouth so your hand rests on your cheek. The line of the arrow will be under your eye then." She instructed and Roy did as he was told. "Tip your elbow up here." She said as she pushed it up. "Keep your shoulders back and relaxed. Now aim and release." Roy obeyed.
THUNK. The arrow imbedded itself in the white boarder of the target. "Yes." Roy whooped. "Finally." "Don't get cocky you need to hit the bulls eye. This time when you let the string go don't hesitate. It's meant to be a fluid motion away from the face." Roy tried again altering his technique. This time the arrow hit the black ring. "Loosen your death grip on the bow. It won't move unless you move it. Use the heel of your hand to push the bow away as you draw. Your thumb and fingers are relaxed and they will catch up when you release." Roy tried again, the arrow landed an inch closer to the bulls eye and next to his last arrow. "Finish your quiver I want to see your grouping.
Five arrows on and Roy was into the blue ring but all of his arrows were in the top tight quadrant of the target. Canary had watched from behind and knew what corrections were needed. She held his bow while he retrieved the arrows from the targets. "This time I want you to aim for the black ring in the left bottom quadrant." "Okay." He replied confused but he still followed her instructions and released the arrow. This time the arrow imbedded itself in the red inner ring in the lower left quadrant. "Oh cool." Roy commented. "Try altering where you aim and see how it affects where the arrow lands, you will need this understanding when out in the field."
Roy emptied his quiver this time he tried aiming for the different quadrants and different rings and two arrows missed while the rest were scattered about the target. He handed his bow to Canary again while he retrieved his arrows. "Now try for the different targets from one place." Canary suggested. Roy did just that. He went for the one in front but above head height, the arrow hit the red ring. Next he went for one on his left low to the ground, he drew aimed and released and the arrow flew and hit the inner red circle just as it joined the yellow bulls eye. Next he went to the right and this time he tried to go through the draw, aim and release quickly and ended up hitting the blue ring. "Nice try to go quick but take your time you are plenty fast as you are." Canary advised. "Oliver is faster." He replied while taking his next aim at the target dead ahead. "Yes and he has been an archer for 6 years, you have been one for less than 60 minutes." The arrow struck the bull's eye. Roy's howls of joy filled the room. Shalimar and Canary couldn't help their smiles at the juvenility.
"Keep it up, come on you said Oliver is quicker he doesn't spend five minutes cheering a shot." Canary jokingly scolded Roy. Roy continued he went for the above target and struck the bull's eye again and with great restraint he didn't cheer but couldn't help the smirk he was really doing this at last. He handed over the bow again and went to retrieve his arrows. "Can we get moving targets?" Canary asked. Roy looked over to Shalimar, "Can we?" He redirected the question to her." "Sure, you want ninjas again?" Roy eagerly nodded. The targets pixilated and they dissolved to be replaced with a Ninja moving erratically around the room.
"Now do your best to hit the Ninja." Canary instructed. Roy repeated what he had done for the targets and aimed but as soon as he was ready to release the Ninja would change direction, He aimed again and at the last second the Ninja moved. He growled in frustration, then took a deep breath to calm down and relax he didn't want to break his new bow. He tried again and went for speed than accuracy and he missed the Ninja. Canary remained quiet but watched him closely. Roy drew again and repeated his efforts last time and went for speed, this time he managed to hit the Ninja in the shoulder. "Finally." He said. "Nice shot. Can you do it again." Canary said. Roy tried again but this time he missed, and again with the next one. He didn't get to finish emptying his quiver when Jesse and Brennan entered the hall.
"Adam has confirmed the venom works so we are good to go. Ten minutes and meet on the roof." Jesse announced before he headed off. "Go and get ready Roy I will just check on Diggle before we leave." Canary headed out of the room. Shalimar closed down the simulator and headed out to get changed. "Come one Roy I'll show you where you can get changed." Brennan said, he picked up the duffel bag and waited for Roy to pack away the case and follow him.
Adam was the last to arrive in the Double Helix. He had to finish making up a way to administer the venom, they had enough to get them through the next 12 hours so he had his work cut out. Once he was seated the Helix took off with Brennan and Jesse piloting.
AN2 – I hope I have done okay with this one it mainly focuses on Roy and I was gutted when they cured the Mirakuru I liked him having the super power edge so I wanted him to keep that side. Please leave me a review they are always brighten my day to read them
