"A toast to the happy couple."

Kagome beamed as she clinked her water glass to the other three occupants of the table.

"Thanks for being there, I didn't think you were still in D.C." she replied.

Tony shrugged and glanced at Pepper as she sipped her drink, "something caught my eye."

Tony had received Kagome's call as she left the hidden base, grabbed Pepper from her hotel and met them at the courthouse before dragging them to a restaurant in celebration.

"This is a lot different than what I originally thought my wedding day would look like."

Logan reached his arm over the back of Kagome's chair, his fingers running through her raven tresses lightly.

"So… Since it is your wedding and all, I'm taking you both ring shopping." Tony announced after clearing his throat.

"Why?" Logan asked.

"Tradition." Tony shrugged.

"Who's? Why do we need some metal to show we're married, we both know that."

"Look, I'm trying to do something nice here, a peace offering if you will."

Pepper smirked at Kagome as the dark haired girl rolled her eyes, "Tony's felt badly since what happened on board the helicarrier."

"Oh Pepper, let's not get into that." Tony sighed.

"No hard feelings, Stark. I wouldn't have originally came to you if I thought you hated me, you've actually helped me more than I thought you would." Kagome shrugged.

The waiter came back for their orders before checking the other tables and disappearing back into the restaurant.

"Is there a wedding in your future?" Logan asked, his finger flicking between the couple across from them.

"Good question, why don't you field this one Mr. Stark." Pepper suggested playfully.

All eyes turned to Tony as he pretended to not hear the question.

"Babies, I think we're suppose to ask them about babies." He nodded, turning his eyes to his girlfriend.

"That's the best response I've gotten when marriage comes up, usually he goes on about the latest Iron Man model or just ignores me." Pepper sighed.

"Yeah, so babies when's that happening? I demand the first born child to have my name, for all my help and everything." Tony nodded.

Kagome felt Logan tense beside her at the question, she knew how he felt about kids…

"Middle name," Kagome said.

Tony nodded and stuck his hand out across the table, Kagome shaking it as the waiter came back out with their food.

"We're going to wait awhile for the kids, enjoy marriage and what have you."

"Reasonable answer."

"What about you, kids in your near future?" Logan asked.

Tony coughed on his food, Pepper giggling as Kagome sighed.

The light mood shifted quickly as screams of disbelief and horror came from the other patrons on the porch where they ate, staring at the TV the restaurant.

Four sets of eyes swiveled to see, Kagome standing up quickly as S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters began sliding to the ground in a billowing cloud of smoke.

Three helicarriers fell from the sky.

"Tony… we should—"

"—hey, stop, that's not your problem you said so yourself." Logan said gripping her wrist.

Kagome swung her eyes to him before bringing her attention to Tony.

The billionare cleared his throat and turned back from the TV, picking his fork up and jabbing it into his food, "Steve can handle it… Let's eat."

Kagome sat down slowly, her eyes glued to the screen before Logan stood up and walked over to the TV and pressed the small power button.

"Relax… enjoy your retirement." He said sitting back into his seat.

Kagome nodded and picked her fork up, forcing herself to shovel some food in her mouth as the table ate in silence, the easiness of the day lost.
