Updated version of Prologue. :) Btw, thanks zero-vongola for the review! you made me realize that I really need to work on this. Haha XD To new readers, please review!

Disclaimer Notice! I do not own the francise – Katekyo Hitman Reborn. What I do own though, was this crazy plot twist of the canon story that my twisted mind formulated plus the additional character I inserted to give color to this story.

Author's Note! Here it is! The beginning of my story. Strangely though, I came up with this chapter after writing the third chapter. Too bad, it didn't reach a thousand. Oh well…Please review! Constructive criticism is highly welcomed. Excuse my poor grammar, though.

THE SKY WITHOUT ITS ELEMENTS

A Katekyo Hitman Reborn Fan Fiction

Prologue:

The Day My Nightmare Came True

The memories we all shared…

The laughter…the tears…

The fights…the battles

The wins…the lost…

Have you not remembered any of it?

Tsuna stood with all pride in the balcony of the great base of the Vongola Family located at the center of Italy. It is securely guarded since it housed the probably one of the most powerful man in the whole world – the tenth boss of the Vongola. The ground was crowded with thousands of people, half of them were man wearing black suits – the guards. They swarmed the place like ants. A soft chuckle escaped the boss' soft lips. 'They looked like ants!' he thought jokingly.

He wasn't particularly bothered by those black-suited-men. He knew that they were essential to keep this base - or mansion whatever it is – from enemies who wanted nothing more but to shed blood and claim all the power. A pained smile crept on his face. If only they knew the great burden it carries…

I always thought that those days will never end…

I've always hoped that we would stay together…

Watching each others' back…

And laughing like there were no tomorrow…

He was wearing a formal dress, something his oh-great-of-a-teacher forced him to wear. A black coat with the black cape – something which is similar to the ones the First Boss had worn back to his days. You might be wondering why he was wearing a black suit rather than the white one he used to wear back when he was in the inheritance ceremony.

Well, probably because the white signifies purity. Surprise, he's not that pure anymore. Yes, he's been tainted. For not after those times when taking a life means additional security for their family. He had sworn that he would never take a life, that he would not follow those other power hungry bosses that took lives for a living. But, he could not risk losing one member of his family. He would rather be tainted than live his life alone.

No, he could not bear being alone.

How foolish of me…

To hold hope to something impossible…

How stupid of me…

To think that something stays forever…

As the memories of the past flooded his mind like a movie without a pause button, his tears that his eyes had deliberately held back came cascading after.

Why do I have to be foolish?!

Why? Why?

Why have I let myself be miserable?

Why have I believe them?

Why? Why did I accept them in the first place?

Why do I have to think that I have friends?

Why?

With only the empty sky as his companion, Tsuna cried. Tears cascaded his cheeks like a water pouring out from a faucet. His heart ache from the pain he hid from the others. The regret, the burden, the lies, there were too much a person can take. A bitter smile formed from his dry lips. No, people downstairs would took notice of me. No, they could not see their boss..so..broken. He had to be strong, for them.

He gazed at the blue sky, letting his eyes dry itself. Twenty-five years…He had spent twenty-five years of his life. He had always thought that he would live his life happily, sitting inside his house, with a mug of coffee at his hand, reading the newspaper and waiting for his children to come home. Yes, that was the default dream every man has. But it was his only…his only dream. It may had sound ordinary, but he's not that unique to dream of something extravagant. That simple life would be enough for him.

But, not everything goes as plan…aren't they?

He felt betrayed…

He felt alone…

I've never had real friends…

I've never had a real family…

They're all fakes…

"Doubt"

That was the only thing that lingered in his head. Why doubt? Why doubt his family? His own? The one he build since he was in middle school. Why have doubt in your heart? He couldn't figured out why he had such feelings. He could not decipher anything! That thought – doubt, was it? – it felt so mysterious in his lips. And yet, it somehow described his tragic, drastic, situation.

They do not want him anymore – that he had concluded. He could see how they averted their gaze whenever they would met his. He do not understand why they sudden felt like they couldn't trust him anymore. They had grew distant. Everyone had grew distant. It was as if an invisible line had suddenly been drew in the middle, with everyone at the one side, and with him on the other.

Was it because I'm not pure anymore? Was it because I'm tainted? Was it because of the black suit I had now wear? Was it because I killed? Was it because—No, those could not be the reason. For they had accepted it. When he had explained the situation, they had accepted it. They had assured him. So, that couldn't be it, right?

Perhaps, there was something deep…

But was is it?

Why couldn't just tell me?

Why kept me in the dark?

Why?!

Someone…

Please save me…

I can't hold it any longer…

Someone…Please…

I can't bear to be alone…

His whole body grew timid, his eyes grew dull, his soul empty - like the sky above.

NEXT CHAPTER PREVIEW!

Nothing is left for the sky to embrace…

Nothing is ever the same…

The furious storm that never rests…

The calm rain that washes all their pain…

The sun that enlighten their lives…

The mist that protects the family through deception…

The aloof cloud that watches over the family from afar….

Have you forgotten the memories we shared?

Would they really care?

Would they really stop what they're doing and immediately ran to him, asking questions?

Would they ever return back to him and leave their past life to be at his sight and protect him?

Would they ever choose to endanger their lives again just to protect him?
