Lily Evans sat in the Heads Common Room, reading the copy of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring that her dad had given her for her thirteenth birthday. She had read it so many time the binding was worn and she was honestly surprised that pages hadn't started falling out. The only noise in the Common Room was the crackling fire and the sound of her breathing, with the occassional turn of a page. Her copper hair was piled up into a messy bun and since she wasn't on patrol tonight she'd just put on her pajamas and a hoodie. It just...wan't exactly...her hoodie. The word 'POTTER' emblazoned on the back in bright yellow was proof enough of that. She hadn't intended to take it, but she couldn't find hers and it was just there...It wasn't as if James would ever find out. As far as she knew he was hanging out all night with Sirius at Gryffindor Tower. By the time he got back she would've put his Quidditch hoodie back where she'd found it and it would be like it had been sitting there all night. What he didn't know wouldn't hurt him - or her pride.

She was so wrapped up in her book that she didn't hear the portrait door swing open and James walk in. The teenage troublemaker had a small, thoughtful frown on his face as he walked to his dorm. He searched through his room, coming back out a few minutes later with an even more confused look on his face. "Hey Lily, have you seen my...?" He trailed off, his eyes landing on her for the first time since he'd walked into the Common Room. His plan to stay at Gryffindor Tower with Sirius had backfired when he couldn't find the hoodie that he was so sure he had put in his bag. Not that he really needed it, it just bothered him that he had forgotten it. And the same hoodie he was looking for seemed to be warming up someone who was definitely not it's owner - unless she'd suddenly changed her name without his knowledge.

Lily froze, a dark blush slowly spreading across her cheeks. How had she not heard him come in? So much for what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him...

James slowly walked over so he was standing behind her, needing final confirmation that it really was his and he wasn't imagining things. He curiously picked up the hood, seeing his name on the back of the hoodie. He smirked, "Found it." He murmured.

Lily's blush somehow managed to deepen. He was supposed to be with Sirius. That was the only reason she'd even entertained the idea of putting his damn hoodie on in the first place. "Sorry." She mumbled, embaressed.

"It's fine. Keep it. It looks better on you anyway." He told her with a small shrug and a giant grin on his face. "Later Lils!" James walked out of the Common Room, with a new spring in his step. The portrait door softly closed behind him as he wondered whether he should tell Sirius the real reason he didn't have his Quidditch hoodie.

Lily softly groaned once he'd left the room, putting down her book and resting her head in her hands.

James Potter was never going to let her forget this.
