My Life I Offer

"Hey . . . ." said Kuro as she was playing with her breakfast.

"What?" asked Illya.

"Does something seem . . . . A little different about them?" as she pointed out Shirou, Rin, Luvia, and Sakura.

"How so?" then asked Miyu. "They don't seem any different".

"Well Sakura I can understand. But since when did those two-start helping out?"

Looking to the kitchen, it was something familiar yet different.

"Here, have a taste" said Rin. "Is it alright?"

"This doesn't look OK" as Luvia gave a soured look.

"Senpai, we better hurry so we can start eating" then said Sakura.

It was definitely unusual no matter how you tried to spin it. Usually Rin and Luvia would have been too preoccupied bickering with each other to do anything else. Yet now it seemed their relationship had reached some sort of balance. Ever since they met it had been nothing but hostile rivalry as they've always tried to one up each other. Even regardless of how much collateral damage they incurred just to spite each other. But now, it was a bit different. The rivalry was still there. However, it was more friendly or playful.

With the three of them with Shirou . . . .

"I just can't find the right word" as Kuro scratched her cheek. "Did something happen?"

Illya could only shrug while Miyu just continued to stare trying to figure it out.

"Food! Food! Food!" Leysritt chanted lightly tapping the table.

"How undignified" Sella sighed.

Saber just patiently waited to be served while Caster was smiling minding his own business.

With the time dilation over, it was simply the next day. Just another boring usual day that Illya loved so much.

Going to classes.

Hanging out with her friends.

Just doing normal things kids her age would do.

But alas, some things are just meant to end.

As the group of friends and family walked home, they were met with the most unpleasant sight.

"Yo" Gilgamesh waved standing on top a building nearby. "I have now come to claim my prize". Without needing any further provoking Illya's group went into combat formation. "But for today, what I plan to take is you" as he eyed the silver haired girl.

"What?" as Illya was startled.

"It's a win-win for me after all. I take you to summon the grail as Saber will naturally follow. Everything is already falling into place".

"Do you think I will let you?!" as Saber readied her sword standing in front of her master.

At such a statement, the golden king smirked before howling in laughter. "Do you really think you have a choice?" he then asked back. "However, it would be troublesome to take you unscathed. But that is why you get the servant to take care of the menial tasks".

"I do not serve you" Lancer said annoyed as he then appeared on the roof top. But spotting Shirou among the group, "yo, it seems you got a lot stronger since the last time we fought".

Though numbers were on their side, the king of heroes was not an opponent to take lightly. With Lancer here, it made things tricky.

But for the one week they trained was not for nothing.

Illya moved first shifting dimensions to reduce casualties. Installing their respective servants, she was joined by Miyu, Kuro, and Saber. Meanwhile Shirou and the others would be their rearguards.

With that the battle commenced. With Gil's Enkidu, it would only serve to bind Illya and Miyu. Thus, it was ideal to leave the golden king to the others while they deal with Lancer first.

As the Gate of Babylon opened, Shirou and Kuro knew their task projecting weapons accordingly to counter him. Granted if Gilgamesh was serious, their current tactic would not be enough. But in his pride and arrogance, he would not fight any harder than he had too which gave them the edge they needed. Though Shirou could use the Unlimited Blade Works, it would be a fight where he would put everything on the line.

While Gilgamesh was stalled out for the time being, Illya and Miyu needed to wrap up their fight as quickly as possible.

"Mjolnir!" Illya cried out slamming her hammer down demolishing an entire street as Lancer easily evaded her.

While in mid-air, Miyu fired off several chains attempting to ensnare him. Her friend only needed one good hit. But alas the blue servant sliced all her chains to pieces as he dodged Illya again. Appearing behind her with spear in hand, Miyu dashed in quickly parrying his attack. In the same moment ducked as Illya swung back only for Lancer to dodge again.

Berserker had the strength to defeat him, but not the speed.

Rider was able to keep up, but would not be able to land the winning blow.

Of course, with the right tactic they could eventually overcome him. However, they couldn't afford any more time.

"Miyu" as the silver haired homunculus looked to her friend. Nodding her head, this was a new trick Illya had created. Uninstalling her servant, Miyu was quick to stand back as she felt Rider's spirit temporarily leave her. With its return, Illya unveiled her new power. "Overwrite!" as Rider's spirit was changing.

Taking Caster's advice, many heroes in history had many tales and feats that could describe them. With each one it qualified them for different classes allowing for different skills and attributes. Like the magus of flowers suggested, she was already an oddity. Why not push things a little further? As she was the focal point, it allowed for more flexibility allowing her to do things that was thought otherwise impossible. As with the servants, it was only a matter of cutting and pasting the class code to different spirits altering their state.

Engulfed in purple flames, Illya soon emerged completely different. She appeared more bestial with scales and claws for arms and legs along with a snake like tail. The form Illya chose was Medusa near the end of her tale. No longer a goddess, but a monster enhancing all her stats.

However, this form was still considered of the Berserker class which meant that mad enchantment still applied.

But like Kiritsugu taught her, she needed to remain in control. With each passing second was a test against her will power. So, she needed to make every moment count.

Breaking the concrete beneath her feet in a burst of speed, she was instantly in front of Lancer as the blue servant barely blocked her attack which sent him flying through a house.

Pushing a wall off, Lancer could only smirk.

Forced to serve that damn priest, he was made to do a lot of things he disagreed with. But through it all this was the only silver lining as he was able to fight strong opponents and, in a way, meet interesting people.

Ordered by Kirei, he observed and sparred against all participants in this war bringing back this valuable information to his master.

For those he pointed his spear at, he actually liked them a lot.

But there was no point in thinking about the 'what if' of things. He was a warrior in heart and soul never looking back as he proudly marched forward.

Against Illya as she was now there was a strong possibility of his death.

However, he would still proudly march forward enjoying a fight till its last moment.

Yet contrary to his wishes, he was but a pawn at the real strategy in play.

With Lancer and Gilgamesh distracting them, the real threat lurked in the shadows waiting for the right opportunity.

Watching for its moment, it struck as a shadowy red arm shot through the chaotic battlefield.

Seeing the attack coming at him, Shirou jumped back trying to dodge whatever it was. However, it still grazed his chest as that was all it needed. Soon the mage smith's knees began to buckle as a terrible pain gripped his chest as he then coughed out blood.

Emerging from the shadows was a man with a skull mask in a black cloak. In his glowing red arm was a heart. This man was none other than Hassan-i-Sabbah, the true Assassin. Upon his appearance, the battle was stopped.

Lancer didn't like this one bit as he didn't care for such cowardly acts as they were going to use that boy as a hostage. As much as he hated it, he had no choice but to go along with it.

Even Gilgamesh saw this kind of tactic as below him. But nonetheless, it was all a means to an end as far as he cared. "Need I really be so cliché with my demands? Now come along Illyasviel if you don't want the boy to die".

All were stunned into inaction. But regardless, "don't!" Shirou coughed out in agony. "Don't give in to them!" as he clenched his chest tighter feeling his heart gripped again. He knew they were talking, but he couldn't make out any of their words anymore with the blood pounding through his head.

Looking up as his vision was blurring, he could see everyone's worried expressions. Especially that of Illya as her face dropped uncertain what to do as she released her servant form returning back to normal.

Miyu, Kuro, and Saber tried to intervene. But to no avail, Illya broke away from them.

This could be not how it ends!

He will not let Illya die for him!

"Illya!" Shirou roared out as he got back on his feet. Projecting his bow and the strongest arrow he had, he took aim at Assassin. But even before he could fully pull the string back, the shadowy servant clenched his hand.

Feeling his heart destroyed, Shirou's life was cut in an instant.

It didn't matter either way as it was the gamble he played. Either he took out Assassin or he died trying. Whichever the case was, he would be removed from the equation giving back their fighting chance.

However, it was all for naught. Falling back dying from his wound, he could barely make it out as Illya had turned back screaming towards him only to be snatched away.

Kuro, Miyu, and Saber tried to pursue only for Lancer to stall them as they continued to get further away.

As Shirou laid there at death's door, he could barely make out what was happening. Rin, Sakura, and Luvia crying as they tried desperately to save him.

Feeling his consciousness drift away, that one small regret lingered. "Illya . . . ."

To be continued . . . .

Author's notes: Hope this chapter was OK and here is some commentary.

I am going to wrap up this story in a few chapters. I have no idea what is going on in Prisma Illya Drei as it's been a few curve balls. After all this time it's still hasn't finished. But if I had to guess it's ending, it probably might be something cliché/predictable that Illya, Miyu, and possibly Kuro will use their grail power together to overcome the disaster and save the day. Still banking on the fact that the bloomers wearing girl has something to do with the counter force as she was remarked as the answer from the world.

Now starting from the beginning, I'm still leaving it ambiguous. Whatever Shirou, Rin, Sakura, and Luvia did or said is between them.

Concerning the overwrite function, it was introduced in Illya's fight against Beatrice. But I decided to take it a step further in shifting around heroes with their classes. The final battle Illya is going to have is something I hope will turn out epic.

Also noted in this small scuffle, if Gilgamesh was really serious this battle would have been over. Yes, Shirou's UBW perfectly counters Gil's GOB. But the moment he pulls Ea, the battle has already been decided. This can be noted with Shirou's first fight with Angelica in which he almost had her on the ropes. But when she pulled Ea, Shirou was defeated even when he threw the full might of his UBW at it. It's due to Gilgamesh's pride that he would never pull it as he sees Shirou as unworthy to die by it. But I'd imagine against Caster Gilgamesh it would be a completely different story as he was a much older version of him who matured and doesn't mess around as much.

I'm kind of having waving this one, but as it should be noted Kirei has Assassin in this one.

Concerning Assassin's noble phantasm, I'm not sure how it would affect a holder of Avalon as that thing should protect you from death in multiple ways. But once again we will see.

After reading many forums, the rank of a noble phantasms at the time can be irrelevant depending on the effects it's fighting against. Even the rules behind a few of them could be up in the air for interpretation depending on whatever the writer feels like which kind of bugs me a bit. The example is Lancer fight against Assassin in Heaven's Feel. When Assassin crushed his heart, Lancer in relation to his legend should have had extra slack left in him to continue the fight to kill Assassin. But this ended up being hand waved.

If there are any questions or concerns feel free to ask as I'll try to answer them.

So thank you for reading as I further extend my gratitude if you can review as well.
