Alan gave up his entire world for Denny, and, if anyone were to ever ask him, he'd say he'd do it again and again, never missing a beat. Because he would do it again in an instant. Because Denny was the best friend he could ever hope to get, and one far better than someone like him could ever deserve.

He was someone to laugh with, someone to share a glass of scotch on the balcony with, someone who could actually coax him down from the ledges, both proverbial and physical, when his mind wasn't right, and neither was Denny's.

He was the man who could raise the spirits of anyone with a couple of off-key, out-of-context jokes and a pat on the back, followed by the two quipped words he never went anywhere without:

"Denny Crane."

He was the man who Alan would follow to the ends of the Earth, and, if Denny were to ask why he was doing so, Alan would tell him that he just felt like going on a journey as well, and, well, it wouldn't be fair if Denny got all the women, adventure, good scotch and fun for himself, now would it?

He'd give up everything he could for Denny Crane, again and again. He was his best friend, his life partner, his husband, his other half. And, in the end, right when he knew that he recognised him for the last time, Alan knew when to pull the trigger, just like he'd promised all those years ago.

Two shots.

No doctors, no hospitals, no homes, just the two of them.

Alan Shore gave up everything for Denny Crane in the end. And he didn't regret it for a second.
