Kage no hon'no: Hi everybody! Welcome back to my story. Now, before we get started, let's answer some reviews!

Kinunatzs: *sob* Why must you remind me of my failures?! Yes, I know the chapter was too short, but I am currently remedying that predicament!

DaLintyMan: *Adopts a teaching pose* Well, of course Creep could be used as a weapon in battle! If you take a look at the wiki, there is an article about the development of Creep, where it would cause damage to non-zerg buildings, and there was an ability that allowed queens to poison the Creep that would injure enemy units, although it was never added to the game. That aside, Creep is also part of the Zerg, so it can can be altered by evolutions. So imagine if the Overmind or Kerrigan decided to add enhancements to the Creep that could trap enemy forces or eat away at them while they walked on the Creep? If it wasn't for the fact because they thought Creep as the way to provide resources to their buildings and Blizzard wanted to prevent the complete OPness of the Zerg, fighting the Zerg would have been that much harder.

Kage no hon'no: Disclaimer time!

Disclaimer: The plan is simple, I will go back in time and sell Starcraft under my own name, thus making it mine! Now where's my book on time travel?

Chapter 2: Chapter 3: Your First Drone

As you now have a Hatchery that's producing Larva, it's time to start with the construction of your base. The first step towards this is to have your Larva morph into a Drone. This step is rather simple, just will one of your Larva to morph into a Drone.

The Overmind lay against the Hatchery, attempting to figure out what he should do next. He had the Hatchery built, something that had been a spur of the moment. The idea of making another one didn't sound very ideal as the first had caused him to pass out for the entire time it was spawning. While he had found the Larva to be interesting at first, that had faded as the Larva did nothing but wander around and eat Creep. The information he had on the Larva from the library that was to be his right eye said that there were some morphs available for the Larva, but he had no idea as to how to make that happen. He decided to try to find more about the available morphs and mentally asked for the information on the Larva. His eye tingled, and the words appeared again.

Larva

Basic Unit, morphs into other Units

Morphs Available:

Overlord, 10 b.e.

Drone, 5 b.e.

The Overmind tried asking for information on the two morphs, but received a slight tingle for both. He got off the fleshy exterior of the Hatchery, letting out a sigh. Why did it have to be this complicated? Couldn't he just get a set of instructions telling him what to do, or something along that nature? "This isn't fair!" he whined. With nothing paying attention to his dilemma, he decided to focus on his current situation, which of the two morphs he wanted to try out first. The simplest solution would to do both of them at the same time. That idea was tossed out automatically, not wanting to repeat his experience with the Hatchery.

"Which one to choose." He muttered to himself. The Overlord looked like that it would be an interesting choice, a higher cost of Bio-energy indicated that it was more complex and more intelligent than a Drone, and that it could be able to provide him with some answers to his questions. What made him wary was the fact that it cost so much, and the name. He had no idea how much Bio-energy he could use before passing out, and if he was guessing correctly, an Overlord was most likely a lesser version of him, the Overmind. If he was unconscious while a creature that could control the Swarm, one that he had no idea would be hostile or not, it could attack him while he was defenseless, although he was pretty much defenseless while awake. Putting aside the idea of spawning an Overlord, he thought about the Drone. It didn't cost as much as the Overlord, so it was much more simple, which meant that the possibility of getting answers was much lower, although that meant that the risk of getting attacked if he passed out again wasn't as high, as well as the possibility of passing out. After a quick mental debate, he decided that the best bet was to first spawn a Drone, to reduce the risk of being attacked and passing out.

He turned his attention to the Larva next to him. "You there," he said, pointing at the Larva, "morph into a Drone." The Larva stayed in its sunning position and ignored him. The Overmind blinked, not sure what he did wrong, "Uhh, please morph into a Drone?" The Larva continued to do nothing, "Change! Metamorphize! Transform! Initialize the morphing sequence! Evolve!" The Larva turned over and for a second the Overmind thought that one of the commands had worked, but that ended as the Larva started eating Creep. The Overmind sighed and laid down in front of the Larva, "Look, I don't know if this really matters to you at all, but I currently have no idea as to what the hell I'm supposed to do. This little library that's in my eye isn't being useful at the moment, and I'm pretty sure that the Hatchery isn't going to be talking to me anytime soon. As of right now, you're the only one that has any chance of helping me sort out this insanity that I've been thrust into. So, are you going to morph into a Drone or not?" The Larva paused and looked in the direction of the Overmind's voice. It crawled towards him until it's pincers rested on the bridge of his nose, some time passed, before it bit his nose. Several seconds passed before the pain registered in the Overmind's mind and he jerked his head back, the Larva's pincers tearing a bloody line down his nose. Standing back up, he brought up a hand to nurse his newest wound and proceeded to curse at the Larva, weaving a rather explicit image of what he thought it should go do with a chicken.

After he finished his tirade, the Overmind started walking around the clearing, trying to figure out what was wrong. The Larva didn't listen to his commands and had completely ignored him until he got up close.

A thought hit him, maybe it couldn't understand what he was saying? That complicated things, how was he supposed to communicate with it then? The Overmind growled, this was becoming harder than it should have been. He continued to pace around the clearing, noting that another Larva had come out on the other side of the Hatchery.

Wait.

He turned towards the Hatchery and ran to the other side. The Larva had come out and was currently tearing up a chunk of the purple ground.

The Overmind stared at the Larva, confused. How did he know about the Larva? It shouldn't have been-

If you are experiencing difficulties doing this, it may be due to the fact that you are still suffering from the full memory wipe and have temporarily forgotten that you have a mental connection to your swarm at all times. Not to worry, this effect is temporary and should fade away shortly, allowing you to get started spawning Drones.

He smacked himself in the forehead. Of course he could sense them! He skimmed through the presences in his mind, finding the one that represented the Larva in front of him. Focusing on it, he pulled slightly on the thread that connected him to it, bringing him into contact with the Larva's mind.

Its mind was simplistic, there was no detailed thoughts, besides the desire to eat and to be safe. There was a short acknowledgement when he entered, but nothing beyond that. With nothing else left to explore, he spoke into the Larva's mind. "Morph into a Drone." Receiving the mental equivalent of a nod from the Larva and the same feeling of being drained, albeit weaker this time, he withdrew from its mind and back into his own.

When his vision had returned to him, he saw that the Larva had transformed into a larger version of one of the sacs that were on the Hatchery, although it was green, and had four spines on each side of the sac, small spikes jutting out up the entire length.

The Overmind stood there, a sense of satisfaction filling him as he watched the sac. He turned his mind towards the other Larva, seeing if there was anything else he could do with them. "Come here." he ordered. Silence answered him. "Come to me." No reply from the Larva.

He let out a sigh, it looked like that there wasn't much else he could do with the Larva. He focused on the presence that represented the Hatchery. It felt bigger, and more sophisticated than the Larva. Slowly, he entered the Hatchery's mind. A soft singing filled the entirety of his mind, a sense of calm and peace coming with it. The song itself was a simple melody, a series of soothing notes that never repeated that same phrase twice and never stopped. Any thoughts of exploration faded as the Overmind listened to the song of the Hatchery, softly humming along to it.

A pulse came from the morphing Larva, breaking the Overmind out of his trance. He pulled away from the Hatchery and looked at the sac. It had swelled slightly, the top of it now reaching above his waist, and had begun to shake. The Overmind took several steps back before the sac exploded, sending fluids and sac parts everywhere. The Larva had changed somewhat. It had gotten larger now, adding on about half length of his arm to its total length, and had a set of wings with four tendrils running along the wings. It had also gained a pair of arms, covered in the same substance that covered its back, with long blade-like pincers on the end on the arms.

The Drone is one of the few units that does not have fighting as a priority. Although it does have means for defense, the Drone is built for gathering resources that can be converted into bio-energy. Drones are also the only way to spawn other structures, provided that the necessary requirements are met. They have an average intelligence, allowing them to discern which materials can be used and how to best harvest them. Notoriously known for being workaholics to the extreme, they will gather without taking any breaks or lunches, and will continue to work even if under threat of attack. This makes them to be excellent workers, if somewhat eccentric.

The Overmind watched the Drone begin the process of removing any fluids left on it when his face tingled and more words appeared.

Drone

Basic Unit, gathers resources, morphs into structures

Morphs Available:

Hatchery: 30 b.e, 1 cycle

Spawning Pool: 20 b.e, .75 cycles

Evolution Chamber: 15 b.e., .8 cycles

Spine Crawler: 10 b.e., .5 cycles

Extractor: 10.b.e, .5 cycles

A large grin grew on his face and he did a small dance. He had been right, information about morphs could only be given once he had spawned it. The prospect of five more morphs to explore was a little daunting, but it didn't matter right now. He focused his attention on the Drone, eager to find more about it.

"Hello there." the Drone stopped cleaning itself and looked at him, "I'm the Overmind, it's nice to-" a rush of thoughts flooded into his mind, stunning him by the amount of emotions behind them.

It might also be prudent to mention that Drones are the equivalent of rabid fangirls when it comes to the Overmind. They worship every single aspect of the Overmind and can be somewhat enthusiastic when first meeting with you.

He managed to push aside the torrent of emotion and walk over to the now shaking Drone. Kneeling down, he reached out and placed a hand on it in an attempt to calm it. "Hey listen-" he winced as the Drone let out a high pitched squeal. It rushed forward, knocking him onto his back and landed on top of him, enveloping his chest with its body.

Letting out a sigh, the Overmind sat up with the surprisingly light Drone and looked down, "Get off please." he said calmly. Reluctantly, the Drone removed itself from the Overmind's chest and settled back on the ground next to his leg, chittering sheepishly. "So I know you can morph into buildings," he started, "but I'm not really in a rush right now. Would you mind gathering resources for me?"

With and affirmative chitter, the Drone rushed over to one of the trees on the edge of the clearing. It circled around the tree a couple times, before tapping on it with a pincer, deciding on a spot. With two quick slices, the tree fell into the clearing with a thud, narrowly missing one of the Larva. Ignoring the angered hiss of the Larva, the Drone began removing the branches and placing them next to the Hatchery, where several tentacles shot out from the top and grabbed them, pulling them inside. It repeated the process with the trunk, cutting them into manageable sections to be moved. Once the last of the sections was finished, the Drone moved back next to the Overmind, waiting for his response.

He stared for a couple seconds, stunned at the speed and efficiency the Drone had performed. A couple more moments passed before he managed to regain his senses. He smiled at the Drone and patted it on the head, "Good job." The Drone squealed and leapt back onto him, covering his chest once more.

The Overmind sighed again and removed the Drone from his chest, "Come on, back to work. I have a lot of things to do today." The Drone chirped and headed back over to the trees, continuing the work it had started.

Kage no hon'no: Hey! I'm back! Sorry for being away for so long, but I had life and lack of motivation to overcome. But not to worry! I should be posting more chapters soon, and hopefully they'll be longer! Be sure to Read and Review! Ja Ne!
