A Bloody Change

I watch the blur of activity, and suddenly the room is empty. I look at Taha Aki, wondering what to do next.

"Go, if you want." He answers my silent question, looking up to the ceiling.

I run up the stairs, and stop in front of the open door way to what was once Carlisle's library. It looked almost like a hospital room now; I walked into the room, keeping my back to the far side of the room.

Suddenly Edward shouted out no, and Jake kicked Rosalie in the wall near the door. Her eyes were black; Alice suddenly appeared and grabbed Rosalie around the throat, forcing her out of the room.

I screamed, putting my hand over my mouth. I watched stunned, when Edward was suddenly biting into my stomach. Unable to keep looking, I trained my eyes on Jake. Trying to listen to whatever he was telling my other self.

Within minutes the room was filled with the sound of a baby crying, I looked and smiled as Edward held the small bundle in his arms. I watched, as Jake stepped back as Edward placed the bundle on my chest.

The baby was suddenly pulled away from my chest, and Edward looked angrily at the baby. I looked at my chest, surprised that the baby had bitten me and left a crescent shaped mark.

I turn to watch myself, to see if the baby had caused me to start the change. Within seconds of Edward taking the baby away, my eyes roll into the back of my head. Suddenly Jake is breathing into my mouth and pressing down on my chest, I can hear him begging my lifeless body not to give up and not to leave him.

I watch stood in the corner unable to move, as Edward hands the baby to Rosalie who had walked into the room, looking more in control of her bloodlust and then suddenly pushed Jake's hand away causing the bones in his fingers to break. I cringe, and look down when Edward starts to push a syringe filled with a silver liquid directly into my heart.

Out of the corner of my eye, I watch a dark shadow leave my body. Jake seems to follow it, and I quickly follow him. Down the stairs and into the room where Rosalie is holding the baby, I start to panic when Jake stops right behind Rosalie.

"Is he going to attack the baby?" I ask Taha Aki, as he comes to stand next to me.

Before he can answer, Jake suddenly falls to his knees at the same time as the baby looks directly into his eyes.

"He just imprinted on my baby, didn't he?" I ask, shocked at this.

"Yes" Taha Aki.

"Why? Why would that happen?" I asked confused.

"You will understand when the time is right."

"I followed that shadow from my body, where did that shadow go?"

"That shadow was a part of your soul; we believe that every child a mother gives birth to gives that child apart of their soul."

"Is that why Jake imprinted?" I asked, as I started to pace. Did this mean that Jake had imprinted on me but never told me? Or were we so close, because he had imprinted on the part of my soul that I would be giving to my child.

"No, a wolf cannot imprint on a part of a soul, it has to be the whole soul." Taha Aki, explained.

"So Jake would not of imprinted on me and not told me."

"Child, I cannot answer that question for you. The wolf spirit is a separate being, we cannot control it or make it do what we want it to do. They use the imprint to find a mate that is most suited to them, they have knowledge that only they know what they need."

"So not every wolf will imprint?"

"No, if the wolf is with the wrong person, and the human part is refusing to leave that person. Then the wolf can take control, and encourage that the man is connected with the right person. But if the man is with the right woman, and the wolf agrees, there will be no imprint. An imprint will also occur, if the wolf believes that the man would accept him easier if he had that support of a mate."

"Like the Sam, Leah, and Emily issue?" I asked.

"Yes, Sam needed somebody who would be supportive and reliable. Leah was too independent, and would only offer support on her terms."

I couldn't stop my thoughts turning to the 'what if' Jake never imprinted on me because, I was what his wolf wanted and needed. I stopped that train of thought remembering that I was with Edward my future was with him. Watching Jake looking at my daughter, I felt happy in a selfish way. Jake would still remain with us, he could still be my best friend even if I make it as a vampire.

With that thought, I felt my heart rate rise in panic. Would I make it through my change, or would I die?

"Am I going to die, or am I changing?" I ask Taha Aki, turning to look back at the stairs, where Edward was still somewhere up there.

"Isabella, I am here to show you the results of your choices. I do not know that answer, go find out if you want I will be outside waiting for you." I nodded, as I turned around and ran upstairs.

I slowly walked back into the room, nervous to what I would find. I couldn't stop the smile, whent I saw that Edward was now sat near my head holding my hand and smiling. I knew that he wouldn't be smiling if I was dead, so I was going through the change.

I stepped closer, surprised that I was not screaming or moving. I was showing no signs of being in pain. I wondered if the morphine was stopping the pain and agony of the change.

A few minutes later, I walked back down the stairs and out through the front door. Taha Aki, was sat in the middle of the front grass with his eyes closed. I sat down opposite him, waiting for him to open his eyes.

I jumped when he started to chant, he stopped briefly and opened his eyes before continuing for another ten minutes. Suddenly everything started to blur, I closed my eyes.

"Open your eyes child, and stand up." Taha Aki, spoke. I opened my eyes and automatically looked around as I started to get up.

We were behind the Black house, I could see some of the wolves standing up and growling in our direction. I looked in between the gap the wolves had made, and gasped when I saw Jake's body near a bonfire.

"Look, just beyond the fire." Taha Aki whispered.

I looked and I could see Jake stood there with a man, who looked almost identical to him. I waved and smiled towards them, and was surprised when Jake did the same.

"We need to leave, your journey with the Cullen's is not yet over. It appears young Jacob was just as worried about you, as you were about him." Taha Aki whispered again before taking my hand and leading me into the forest.
