Dear Lucius, my old friend,
I have just spoken to Draco. Lucius, Draco is fearful.
He fears that if the dark lord returns, no, when the dark lord returns you will go to him and sacrifice Draco to him.
I acknowledge and accept that your power as the boy's father over rules all else; but my friend, I emplore you; Draco is a scared child who knows not where to turn.
He doesn't understand the importance of loyalties to the dark lord.
His child's mind is scarred from scenes of his younger years, in which he saw many things that most other children will never see.
I speak with his tongue when I say that he wants to escape the fate that he feels is looming over him.
I advise you, as a friend, to speak with Draco and explain things to him. If possible though, when the dark lord returns, keep Draco away from it.
He is only a boy. A scared boy who wants to be shown love. I know that you and Narcissa care for the boy, of course you do. Let Draco know that. Perhaps then he will not be afraid any more.

Dear Severus,
Draco WILL be a follower of the dark lord. He must be raised to serve him faithfully.
What he saw as a child will prepare for the world he must face.
I acknowledge your concern and am grateful that you are watching out for him. I realise that he is scared of the dark lord and the life that goes with serving him, but the dark lord will be able to offer him power and wealth in return for his good service. I do this for him and his future. Please explain this to him.
I am regretful that I cannot be a perfect Father for Draco, but there are appearances that must be upheld. I cannot be seen to be affectionate towards anybody. Not even my own son. Draco must learn to put on a hard mask as I do. Please continue to watch over him.
