Hey guys! It's been forever! :) I'm back with another oneshot for my Disney "Little Things" collection... This did take a little longer than I would've hoped, mainly because my Wreck-It Ralph DVD suddenly stopped working and I had to buy a whole new copy, but all-in-all, I really love how this one turned out.

This one-shot was requested by DylaNintendo. Hope you like it as much as I do… ;)

Wreck-It Ralph: Stronger than Codes

"Move it or lose it, people. Come on, everybody out, now!"

Sergeant Calhoun's commanding shouts and the sounds of her gun rang loudly above the terrified screams of the racers and citizens of Sugar Rush. He was vaguely aware that Felix stopped under the game's large archway, but he kept on running as fast as his enormous feet could carry him. He barely noticed the tiny figures racing past him, his concern and attention focussed only on the little girl perched on his shoulder.

"Ralph, it's not gonna work!"

He heard her loud and clear, but he refused to listen. "We gotta try!"

So he continued to run towards their only escape route, but was stopped by the sound of a large zap, and the sudden absence of weight on his shoulder.

"Kid!" Turning back, he saw her standing at the very top of the rainbow bridge, watching him hopelessly.

"Ralph, I told ya I can't leave the game," she insisted as she pressed her hands against the invisible wall refusing to let her leave, the wall glowing a light blue beneath her fingertips.

"Come on." Running back to her side, he held her small frame in his - to use her words - 'freakishly big' hands, and again tried to carry her through the exit.

"Ralph! Stop!"

The child's cries fell on deaf ears as he pushed her forwards, grunting as he tried to force her through the game entrance. The transparent force-field zapped and bubbled as it continued to resist against her, but glitch or not, he refused to leave her behind.

"It's gotta work!"

"Stop! It's no use..." she insisted, glitching herself from his grasp with a single blink.

His breathing rasped and heavy, he stepped away from the game entrance, kneeling before the child. He hung his head in shame as he struggled to retain his grief. His only friend - the first to see past who he was programmed to be - was trapped in a crumbling world; one she could never escape.

Looking up, he watched her rest her hand on his, "It's okay, Ralph."

The nearby whir of a cruiser grabbed his attention, and he turned to see Calhoun and Felix at the top of the rainbow bridge.

"Alright, Fix-It, that's everyone. Now we've gotta blow up this exit."

His gaze turned back to the little girl in front of him. Calhoun was right; she was going to die, and only he - the man she called her hero - was to blame. Tears of despair began to well in his light brown eyes as he searched her selfless hazel orbs. 'I did this to her...'

"Just go." Her tiny hand was still placed tenderly on his own massive ones. He could see in her eyes that she knew she had met her end - that nothing could save her now - but still her interest was in his safety. "Go without me."

He knew that if he did as she'd asked, she'd be able to die in peace. But how in creation could he leave her in her darkest - and final - moments? In but a single day, he'd come to love the feisty 9-year-old girl like he'd love his own baby sister... 'I simply don't have the strength to abandon her...'

"But what about this game?"

"Nothing we can do about it. Without a beacon, there's no way to stop these monsters."

Felix's question went by unheard, but Calhoun's reply grabbed him like a giant claw, his attention turning to Diet Cola Mountain as he stood up.

"Beacon..."

Diet Cola Hot Springs... The Mentos... That was it! If all those mints fell into the springs, then the explosion it would create would be so huge... 'I can still save her!'

"Stay with Felix." Running past the sergeant, he leapt onto her cruiser, "Let me borrow that thing, lady."

"Ralph! Where ya going?"

"I got some wrecking to do!" Edging the cruiser off the rainbow bridge, he sped away from the child, calling over his shoulder, "I'll meet you at the finish line!"

As he zoomed towards the distant mountain, he just heard Felix calling after him, but he ignored his desperate cries. This was the only way to save his Vanellope. 'I need to do this...'

He knew there was a chance he wouldn't live to see her fulfil her destiny, or to tell her how much she meant to him, but she was worth it. Yes, they came from two entirely different worlds, but Ralph knew in his heart that he and Vanellope were stronger than codes...
