New Recruit

Iruka happened to be loitering around the administration office when the trio walked into the Academy. Doing a double-take, he grinned widely. "Jiraiya-sama! Kagome-san! Naruto!"

"Iruka-sensei!" Naruto called eagerly, bounding over to him.

"What are you doing here of all places?" Iruka asked, amused by the boy's boundless energy. His face took on a nostalgic quality. "Coming to visit your old sensei?"

"You're not gonna believe it!" Naruto gushed. "We're gonna enroll Kagome-chan into school!"

"Eh?" Iruka's eyebrows shot up and he looked at the other two, surprised.

"Long time no see, Iruka," Jiraiya greeted. His hand landed on Kagome's back and he gently shoved her forward. "Tell me, when's your next intake opening up?"
