The Reason I Don't Care

Chapter 10

"John, get the hell out of my room", Sherlock said calmly, looking at me.

His eyes had a hidden meaning behind them. It was like the Sherlock I knew wasn't there any more. His electric blue-green eyes that were always full of excitement. Always searching, deducing, calculating, just waiting to show off, were now icy and empty. Now, there was something that I had never seen in Sherlock before.

Emptiness.

Sherlock was leaning heavily against the door frame.

"John get the hell out of my room, now", he said with more force.

"Sherlock-", I started but was swiftly cut off.

"Get out!", Sherlock yelled.

The room was silent for a few moments. No one making a sound.

"Just go", Sherlock said more calmly as he reached for the mobile phone at his feet.

It seemed to take a lot of effort from the man as he lost focus time and time again. When he was finally in reach of the phone his hand hit the floor hard slightly to the left, completely missing the phone. That was not like Sherlock, he had the best hand eye coordinate I had seen in a very long time. It took him three more tries before he managed to grab the phone.

Something was definitely wrong with Sherlock. I had a thought pinging at the back of my head but I couldn't decipher it.

I turned around and walked out of the room, not wanting to be there when Sherlock realized I had found the cigarettes in his wardrobe.

I had resolved to watch Sherlock and make sure that he was going to be okay. He was different. Sherlock was wrong. I couldn't shake the feeling that I knew what was wrong with him.

Was he high? No, I could tell. Was he sick? Maybe… Was he insane? Yes, but no more than he usually was.

What was wrong with my friend?

What was wrong with Sherlock?
