My Life is A Tragedy But I am Not Playing Its Song
By: M14Mouse
Summary: Ratchet understood the twins better than anyone in the universe. In end, he knew what he had to do.
Disclaimer: Don't own them.
Ratchet understood the twins.
Perhaps, better than anyone in the universe.
Sometimes, he wished that he didn't.
He understood their loneliness and their pain. He understood to stand among a group of kids and find out that you don't look like any of other kids. Then get called names, beat down and have the bruises to show for it. The name calling and screaming followed him as he ran home.
To run to place that was just as lonely.
He understood their bitterness and their angry.
He asked the why question a million times over the years. Why was he alone? Where were his parents? Why did they leave him? Did he do something? Was it his fault that he was alone? Those unanswered questions left him bitter, alone and angry. While he put his angry into building and repairing and ultimately escaping his home planet, the twins had a different goal.
Yet, he understood.
He understood the single mindedness of it all. He understood the hours and years of planning the twins put into getting free and freeing their friend. He put hours, months, and years into his ship. He planned, saved, and traveled all over the planet to find the parts he needed until a piece that he needed landed in his lap. Clank's dad said that it was destiny and fate that they met. He always thought it was because Clank was a crappy driver.
But he understood the desire to save a friend. The twins did in the name of their only friend until they realized that friendship was false. He still understood the why.
He would do the same for Clank and had. He traveled to the ends of the universe in order to find Clank when he disappeared. When Clank was in danger, he was there. He refused to leave his best friend in danger. If Clank was in a different dimension, he would try his best in order to get him back.
Of course, not put a hole in fabric of reality because Clank would kick his butt at that point.
Clank was picky about that kind of thing.
While he understood the twins, he wasn't the twins.
He didn't make their decisions.
He didn't walk their paths.
Like they loved to point out to him that he had his chance.
He saw his chance when he stared into that portal. He saw his chance when he went stood before the Great Clock. God, he wanted so badly. He wanted to know them…to see them…to be with them.
Despite that flash of hope and possibilities, he said no.
Why?
He saw his friends. He saw the universe, the planets, the people, and just….everything.
To put his desires before them?
He tried that and saw what it could do. He refused to do it again.
The twins talked about how tragedy their lives were, he understood better than anyone in the universe.
Funny thing is the tragedies of his past didn't define his life. Not anymore.
He won't let it.
End
A/N: While I love the new game, it was so short. ;_; I know that you are making a movie, Insomniac but make your games longer! Anyway, read and review if you wish.
