"I had order. True order. Chaos is the natural order of the world... and we reviled in it"
The Grimm where everywhere. Kids were running scared, trying to get away from the monsters that had invaded their school. No one knew where they came from; it was as if they appeared out of nowhere. The Beowolves chased and pounced on the kids, swiping their claws upon them. This wasn't a battle, it was open season on all the kids, and that's without including the two Deathstalkers. One of which was destroying a classroom with its pincers. The few teachers that were stuck in the middle of the chaos couldn't contribute to fending off the Grimm. They weren't hunters and huntresses; they just marked exams and taught the fundamentals.
Only a handful of kids were managing to fight back. Art held his long sword out as he parried against a Beowolf in front of him. Although managing to keep a Beowolf at bay he wasn't able inflict fatal damage against the beast. Behind him were Hans and Gretchen with their crossbows in hand, taking aim and firing their arrows at any Grimm at random. If any got two close they'd use the pick axe like blades on their weapons and swing away. Ali on the other hand seemed to be enjoying herself in the situation. When a Beowolf tried their luck getting Ali she'd disappear then reappear a safe distance behind, leaving only blue cornflower petals in her wake.
With only a handful of students managing to only defend themselves there looked to be no hope for any of them.
That was until their saviours arrived as if from the heavens. A fire ball crashing down into the ground. A shadow-stepping blur zig zag into landing. Glyphs perfectly placed for a graceful landing. And a red blur landing in a squat, a red cloak blowing rose petals in the wind.
"Yang! Classroom four has people trapped inside. Take out the Beowolves surrounding it!" Ruby ordered as she swung Crescent Rose into its scythe form.
"Got it!" The blonde then charged for the classroom, punching Beowolves out of her way like she was walking through a forest pushing branches out of the way.
"Blake! Teachers are pinned against the wall by the gate, once you save them get them to Classroom four. That building should be a safe place for them with you and Yang defending it," Ruby shouted as she swung her scythe, slicing an arm off a Beowolf.
"Right!" Blake took off running, swinging Gambol Shroud around her via the ribbon. The blade slashing at any Grimm in her way.
"Weiss, my friends are cornered by the west tower; get them safely to Classroom four. Then switch between the three of you the two defending that classroom and the one sent out to gather more students," Ruby looked over to Weiss.
"What about you?" Weiss called back, calling forth a Glyph that shot out a barrage of Ice into a group of Grimm.
"Protecting that classroom will be impossible with those two Deathstalkers. With my speed I'm going to distract them, keep their attention on me while you guys gather the survivors and kill the Grimm," The cloaked girl glared at the Deathstalkers, one walking over the remains of Classroom two while the other seemed to be heading towards the gates to the keep.
"That's crazy Ruby, don't you remember what happened last time you tried going up against of those?" Weiss had a point. Back at initiation Ruby's blade barely scratched its bone plating, nor her dust cartridges putting a dent in it. But Ruby wasn't planning of fighting them, just let them try and get her while running away.
"Well... I can count on you to have my back then... right?" Ruby looked over her shoulder with a smirk. Weiss slumped forward with a sigh, planting her face in her hand.
"Of course you dolt," Weiss wasn't really face palming, she was just using it as an excuse to cover the blush that when across her cheeks. Damn Ruby and her smirk! Why was she behaving like this? When the battle was over she planned on seeing a doctor about these problems. Ruby then sprinted forward with her semblance, charging toward the nearest Deathstalker. Weiss worrying watched her partner charge for monstrously huge Grimm but shook her head of worry. She was given an order and she must complete it. So Weiss spun around and made a run for Ruby's friends.
Beowolves were trying to claw their way into one of the classrooms. Students inside huddled together in fear of the monsters at their door. It looked like they were done for. So when one student looked out the window to see what resembled a fireball ploughing straight through a Beowolf, it got everyone to rush to the windows to see what was going on. Yang had skidded to a halt and gave a wink to the kids inside.
"Helloooooooo," She sung with a wave. "I'm your friendly Beacon huntress here to beat Grimm and please the fans." A Beowolf charged for Yang and thanks to the kids pointing behind her Yang spun around and sent a punch straight into the beast's skull. The blow was hard enough to crack its bone armour and sent the mongrel flying into two others. Yang then proceeded to punch out her dust shells into nearby Grimm with great accuracy, blasting limbs off and dropping Beowolves like flies. In no time the Grimm had cleared away from the classroom for the time being; now focusing on the others that are not protected by a blonde huntress. Hearing a ring of applauds and cheers behind her, Yang spun around with her smile that hook all boys, and sometimes girls, and gave a bow to her audience.
"And that is why Beacon is the school for all hunters and huntresses!" Yang cheered, bumping her fist into the air as she rallied the students of Signal before turning back around to dish out some more shells against the Grimm.
A group of teachers backed themselves against the gatehouse. There was no escape for them as the portcullis dug into the ground, blocking their escaped. Sure they wanted to have a distraction from grading homework but this was ridiculous. Now with three Beowolves enclosing in on them it looked like they were done for. That is until the raven haired beauty came to their rescue. Equipping Gambol Shroud into its gun form she used her agility to run up the wall in an arch over the teachers. While in parkour, Blake fired a hail of bullets onto the Grimm before her. Sending the Grimm back the second she landed, the Fanus grabbed her weapons ribbon and slashed a Beowolf's arm off. Keeping momentum she swung Gambol Should around her as she jumped over the snarling beasts attacks. Her blade cutting into them in multiple places and hitting all the vital areas. Soon she landed in a squat as her three opponents fell to the ground. Black smoke coming from all their wounds as they slowly disappeared.
"Stick close to me, I'll take you to a safe place," Blake shouted. The teachers hastily nodded their heads as they followed the raven haired huntress into the battlefield. However Blake quickly came to a halt as one of the Deathstalkers turned their attention to her and the group she was protecting. Before it had the chance to make its way over to them a flurry of rose petals sped past its many eyes, slashing its face in the process. Thankfully Ruby got its attention as it tried it's best to follow the red caped girl. Blake sighed in relief and motioned for the teachers to follow her again. Making their way to the classroom was easier than Blake expected, but that was thanks to the buxom blonde shooting at all the Grimm she could see.
"Get inside!" Blake ordered as she spun around and fired Gambol Shroud at nearby Grimm. The door opened quickly as the teachers piled inside, making sure to slam it shut when they were all in. By this point the students with ranged weapons smashed the windows open and started aiding the huntresses in shooting the Grimm.
Weiss was propelling herself off of her glyphs as she danced around the Grimm while making precision thrusts into important nerves and veins of the Beowolve's she was passing. She was proud to learn the biology from Professor Port's classes, when he eventually stopped retelling his glory days. She could see Ruby's friends in the distance holding back the Beowolve's that approached them, somewhat impressed with the skill of Art as she saw his potential. However she was driven to a stop when she heard the scream of a girl to her right. She wore a thick black coat that went down to her uniform's skirt. On top of her head was a woolly hat for the winter, blue band around her head while the rest of the hat was black. She had short pink hair protruding through the hat and looked to be thirteen years old, definitely younger than Ruby. She was curled on the ground with tears flowing down her eyes as the snarling beast stared hungrily down on her. If Weiss didn't act fast enough she would be dead.
"HEY!" Weiss shouted, trying to get its attention as she spun her rapier's cylinder until it glowed a bright purple. The Beowolf looked up to the newcomer to see her form a glyph in front of her. With a slash of Myrtenaster three purple balls of dust shot out at struck the Grimm in the chest. At first nothing happened, but before the beast was to do anything else it began to float in the air. The young girl watched as the monster continued to float higher and higher until Weiss propelled herself off another glyph and pierced the confused monster through the heart. The young girl watched her hero gracefully land in front of her while the hulking mass of fur and bone crashed down behind her, smoke filling the air as it evaporated.
"Are you okay?" Weiss knelt down and gripped the girls shoulder supportingly. Her eyes were as wide as Ruby's and filled with terror. Tears streamed down her face as the girl seemed to be frozen in time, trapped in the moment that Beowolf trapped her, her death milliseconds away. Suddenly a harsh shake jolted her back to reality. Before her was the white huntresses that saved her life.
"Are you okay?" Weiss repeated when she seemed to get her to react to what was happening now. She nodded her head repeatedly, causing her white haired saviour to smile a small smile.
"Stay close to me, okay?" she got up from her knee and turned to see Art had now been hit against the wall, causing the twins to huddle around him as two Beowolves approached them. Weiss ran toward them followed by the pink haired girl. Weiss spun the cylinder once more on her rapier and created a golden glyph on the floor in front of her. As soon as she stepped into it the glow engulfed her form, giving her a burst of energy or as Weiss would like to think, a bit of Ruby's semblance. With new found speed she sped around the Beowolves and repeatedly plunged her weapon in multiple nerve points and artery's within the beasts. Skidding to a halt in front of Ruby's friends the Grimm never had a chance to react as their lifeless husks hit the floor.
"Woah..." Hans spoke in awe as he stared at the bodies emit the smoke. He looked over to Gretchen with a smile on his face, but the smile soon left when he saw her holding up their injured friend.
"Art's hurt!" Gretchen called out to Weiss who walked over.
"Can he walk?" Weiss quickly scanned him over looking for injuries. He had three slash wounds across his chest that bled, no doubt the Beowolf getting in a lucky swipe against the young man.
"I'm good...," Art replied as he pushed himself up to his feet, now starting to look pale from the blood loss.
"We can't do anything to help you here; I'm taking you back to a safe place. Hopefully someone there is a doctor," Weiss said as she looked through the battlefield. The Deathstalkers remained distracted with Ruby, Yang and Blake continued to kill Beowolves that got too close, and a pack of Beowolves were running towards her. With another spin on her rapier's cylinder she spun herself and stabbed Myrtenaster into the ground. Ice spikes immediately shot up from the ground, impaling the Beowolves.
"Come on!" Weiss shouted as she led the group across the field. The number of Beowolves had decreased to a few small groups remaining. This was a good and bad thing. The good was because they were almost done clearing out the Grimm. The bad was that Weiss and others still out in the field were more visible to the Deathstalkers than before where they were lost in the chaos of Beowolves. This made Ruby's job harder to keep the huge Grimm's attention. Weiss however made it back to the classroom guarded by the Bumblebee duo and helped the others inside. The pink haired turned back, her mouth slightly open as to say something. But she was hurriedly pushed inside by Hans and Gretchen, as they helped Art inside he visibly got weaker from the blood loss and started to lose conscious. Weiss quickly shut the door and turned back to the Grimm.
"Yang! Ruby wants the three of us to swap out and save the rest!" Weiss said walking to the blonde's side.
"Got it!" Yang darted out once more to gather more survivors. The plan was so far working perfectly. With Ruby successfully distracting the Deathstalkers the others were able to whittle down the Beowolves and save everyone else still out there. Weiss stood firm and as Blake swapped out with Yang. There was only about five people left and Yang was seen bringing back two more. The moment Yang passed Weiss she sprinted forward towards two kids backing against the wall, away from a Beowolf enclosing in. She spun Myrtenasters cylinder again, letting it rest on the fire dust, she positioned her weapon and with a glyph for speed she lunged herself forward. She would pierce through it's back to the black darkness that was its heart. Then the fire dust would erupt the mongrel in flames from the inside. The beast would stand no chance. If everything goes according to...
The Beowolf was suddenly brought down with a spear held by Ali as she appeared in front with a flurry of blue petals. Weiss feeling deja vu when Ruby suddenly appeared and killed a Beowolf back at initiation, she quickly skidded to a halt and pulled Myrtenaster to side so as not to impale the girl. The fire dust reacting the same way when back at the Emerald forest, fired from the blade across the ground. Only this time instead of a tree, the fire slammed right into the side of a Deathstalker. The giant Grimm turned it's attention to Weiss, it's red eyes gleaming in anger. Ruby saw this happen and tried firing her sniper rounds at the monster, however it ignored the shots and and roared at Weiss, snapping it's claws in the air.
"Ah... erm... well good luck princess," Ali said with a shrug and suddenly sprinted off towards the classrooms on her own, leaving more blue petals.
"Wha-" Weiss turned to where Ali was to see her gone. This distraction proved to be fatal as the Deathstalker was already upon her. The moment Weiss realised her mistake she was too late to defend herself, only able to use her aura to take the blow as a giant bone plated claw slammed into her side. Ruby was unable to intervene and help as she had the other Deathstalker furiously trying to snap her in it's claws. Weiss tumbled across the ground, only to look up in horror as she watched the monster of darkness slam it's other claw at the kids she tried to save. With a bone plated claw coming towards them with such a force and a thick stone wall behind them, their screams of fear were replaced with the disgusting sound of bones and flesh being crushed in an instant.
"No!" Weiss screamed, reaching out toward the horrific smeared remains of the kids against the wall. How could she have let this happen? She brought the Deathstalker upon them and got distracted! She was suppose to be a huntress! How could she have let two kids... two children die under her watch? Tears brimmed in her eyes at not only the sight of their bodies, but the guilt of letting them die. She shouldn't have let herself get distracted! That distraction caused the deaths of two that hadn't even begun to properly live yet. This was her fault! Her fault!
As Weiss covered her mouth and let the tears run down her face. She disconnected herself from her surroundings and what was happening. Including the Deathstalker marching up to her.
"Weiss! Get out of there!" Blake called out to her team mate. She watched Weiss just sit there as the Grimm walked up to her. By this point all the Beowolves were killed so Yang wasted no time in running out toward Weiss. Sure Yang didn't like the heiress, thinking of her only as a self-centred bitch. But she wasn't going to let someone die cause she didn't like them. If that was the case there'd be a long list of people that would be dead right now. She was not a cold hearted human being. Plus she was a member of her team and Ruby's partner. As much as she loathes the thought of Ruby being friends with her, she knew her sister would fall into a depression that Yang feared she'd never be able to pull her out of. She's lost so many people already, she just found out today that one of her friends died, there was no way she was going to let her sister loose another.
Ruby watched on in a distance in distress as she saw Weiss sit there with the Deathstalker above her with it's stinger pulled back, ready to strike. She saw Yang's attempt to get there in time, firing two shots from her gauntlets only to find herself out of bullets. Even though Yang tried to get to Weiss Ruby knew she was too far away. She looked back at Weiss still sitting there with her head down. Get up! Run! Run! Ruby tripped over a discarded bow and hit the floor. All she was able to do was watch as the Deathstalker roared. Ruby's vision however started to vibrate, but she was too focused on kicking the bow away from her feet. A shadow fell over her as the other Deathstalker reached her with it's own stinger ready for the plunge. But Ruby's eyes were locked on Weiss, her whole body vibrating now with rose petals slowly wilting from her body. Ruby felt tears of her own coating her eyelids. It was happening again. She was about to loose another person she cared about. Then the dreaded moment happened. The Deathstalker's stinger plunged down towards Weiss.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Ruby screamed then suddenly felt her whole body jolt violently. She reached out towards Weiss, hoping that the Deathstalker would stop. But... it did? Ruby wiped her eyes from the tears to see that the Deathstalker had indeed stopped. Infact it was as if it was frozen. Ruby looked around to see that it wasn't just the Deathstalker, Yang was also frozen in place. She was stuck in a running position as she tried to get to Weiss. This was very strange. Ruby then looked up to see that the Deathstalker above her had it's own stinger very close to her head. The readhead on instinct quickly crawled away from the Grimm and got to her feet. Ruby then noticed the Rose petals coming from her, floating away in the air where ever she moved.
"Huh?" She slowly waved her arm in front of her to see the petals fall freely from her arm. This was definitely weird. She looked back towards Weiss and saw that the Deathstalkers stinger was now very slowly moving again. Ruby in a panic ran as fast as she could towards Weiss, but no matter how hard Ruby tried her semblance wasn't working. It was as if she didn't have it. What made matters worse was that Ruby was beginning to feel tired. No! She couldn't fall asleep now! She needed to save Weiss! Ruby finally reached her partners and picked her up. Although frozen her body moved freely and in slow motion. Ruby decided to question this later, so with Weiss on her shoulder who for some reason was as light as a feather, she ran towards the classroom away from the Deathstalkers. Ruby also grabbed Yang's wrist as she ran by, Yang also weighing nothing and flowing behind her as if flying a kite. As Ruby got closer to the classroom her vision began to darken, her consciousness slowly fading. Why did she feel so tired? What was going on? Why did she have the... n... need to... to... s... sl... sleep...
Ruby's world went dark as she fell in front of the classroom.
What Blake saw she was never able to explain. She didn't even blink when it happened so she was certain she didn't miss anything. She saw Yang trying to hurry for Ruby and Weiss as they both had Deathstalkers above them ready to strike. Then in one second she so much that she was surprised herself that her brain registered it. The stingers of both Deathstalkers when down with such speed that neither girl would be able to dodge. However Ruby and Weiss and Yang disappeared and their stingers struck dirt. Ruby, Weiss and Yang where then suddenly in front of her on the ground. Before she was even able to blink in confusion, a powerful gust of wind that appeared from nowhere, sent her flying against the Classroom wall. This wind was so powerful that it blew the door of it's hinges, blew all remaining windows in, and even pushed the classroom back a few feet. As Blake held her shoulder in pain, unable to use her aura in time, she looked over to her team-mates. Weiss and Yang were both gasping for breath as if their life depended on it. It was as if they felt the air was sucked out of their lungs to the point where they felt like deflated bags.
Both girls looked around wide eyed in fear and confusion, having no idea what happened or why they were struggling to breath. Blake quickly skidded to her knees beside the girls.
"Yang, Weiss, what happened?" Blake looked between the two girls as they shook their heads, unable to speak as they tried to bring air back into their lungs. Blake then looked down to her leader. Ruby was face down in the grass, making tired breaths in her sleep. Blake then heard a roar in the distance. Looking up she saw the two Deathstalkers now charging towards her. Blake looked helplessly to her team-mates, Yang tried to get up but fell back down unable to catch her breath. Weiss the same although not attempting to strain herself. Blake looked back towards the Grimm approaching. It was just her against them. There was no way that she was going to win. This was the end for them. There was no way to survive th...
A loud slashing noise was then heard. One of the Deathstalker roared in pain as its stingers was cut off from its tail. A black cloak sped around both the Deathstalkers in speeds that matched Ruby. More slashes were heard and the limbs and body parts were falling from both Grimm's. The monsters couldn't even tell what was going on, lashing out in all directions in the hopes to get whatever's cutting away at them. One fell down to its side and rolled on its back when some of its legs were cut off. The other looked on in confusion only to see a black blur heading straight towards its face. Blake watched as the cloaked man stood on top of the Deathstalker's head. Blake couldn't believe the power this man had. He was stood on top of the now dead Grimm with his weapon, a black scythe very similar to Crescent Rose, embedded through the bone plating and through its skull. His spiked hair flew behind him as more black petals emitted from his cloak.
In a blink of an eye he was gone in a flurry of petals. A loud roar echoed from the other Deathstalker as the black cloak sped across the underbelly of the beast, slicing it open as it went. Blake blinked her eyes in disbelief as she witnessed one man take out two Deathstalkers with the upmost ease. He had to have been a hunter. The man soon appeared before her and knelt down.
"How are they?" he turned Ruby over and checked her for injuries. Blake looked back to her team-mates, trying to formulate an answer.
"I... I don't know... I don't know what happened," she replied, still trying to register everything that happened in front of her. Weiss managed to turn around to see her partner, worry spread across her face as she tried to crawl to her partner's side.
"R...R...Ru...by...," Weiss voice was still shaking, able to get some of her breath back.
"She's fine. She just needs her rest," he replied. He looked over to Yang who held out her hand to him. He gave a small smile and took it in his. She tried to speak but still hadn't regained her breath yet.
"It's nice to see you girls again," he said. Yang smiled and pulled herself up to a sitting position with help from the cloaked man.
"You four girls did good today. You should be proud of yourselves," He said as he stood up again, folding away his scythe. He turned around and began to walk away but he looked over his shoulder to the girls again.
"You two take good care of my nieces," before Blake could give a response he disappeared in a flurry of black rose petals. With the Beowolves gone and the Deathstalkers disappearing in a fog of smoke, the students and teachers exited out of the classroom and began to cheer in triumph. Soon an familiar dog Fanus skidded in front of them.
"I'll take you to the infirmary," he said he picked up Ruby from the ground. Yang had managed to get to her feet again so Blake went to Weiss side and helped her up. Yang rushed to Weiss' side and assisted Blake in holding the heiress up. With Bigby ahead of the girls he led them towards the stairs leading to the keep. The cheers of all the students and teachers continued to echo the field. Weiss however wasn't feeling the need for celebration. She had let two students die under her watch and somehow her partner was unconscious. She was a terrible huntress in training. Blake noticed this and gave a light squeeze
"Hey, don't worry... Ruby will be fine," Blake said in an attempt to cheer up the white haired girl.
"Yeah... y-you heard U...Uncle Qrow," Yang said breathlessly with a grin.
"So that was your uncle?" Blake asked looking to Yang.
"Oh yeah... he was the one... that trained Ruby in... scythe combat. He was also... a student at Beacon." Yang explained. She took in a deep breath as they reached the top of the stairs and let out a sigh.
"Oh... you wouldn't happen... to know what... happened to us?" Yang asked. "All I remember... was running to save... Weiss... and then I was on my back... feeling like... someone shoved a vacuum pipe... down my throat."
"M...me too," Weiss then asked also wanting to know.
"Honestly I have no idea what happened... Everything happened in a blink of an eye," Blake sighed then looked up ahead to Bigby carrying Ruby.
"Well whatever happened... hopefully Ruby could explain," Blake finished as they entered the keep. With a few twists and turns they made their way towards the nurses' room, thankfully it was on the ground floor so they didn't need to travel more stairs. Blake doubted her two team-mates could take much more cardio. The nurses' room was the most normal looking room in the keep. Compared to the old castle rooms of the old days, this room almost looked exactly the same as the one in Beacon. Dust powered lighting on the ceiling, medical beds, curtains, a tv, it was a room that screamed the present day. Bigby quickly placed Ruby down onto the bed as the nurse came over to check on her. Nodding to herself she walked over to the other three.
"Who else is hurt?" The nurse asked as she walked around them.
"No one, their just a little out of breath," Blake said as the nurse stopped behind her. She frowned and placed a hand on Blake's shoulder. The Fanus winced in pain as she took a sharp breath.
"You are. Sit on the bed next to her," she ordered with her arms crossed. Blake sighed and did as she was instructed.
"I can't tell you how much this school and all its students owe you four girls. We had problems before but the Grimm never made it into the castle. How in the blazes did they get in there?" He crossed his arms with a frustrated frown.
"Maybe... we should report to Professor Ozpin. I mean... things have gotten worse and if this could happen again... we may need extra help," Yang voiced her opinion.
"Agreed. We can't let this happen again. Ow!" Blake winced as she tried to take her vest off. Bigby immediately turned around.
"Well in any case I should let Goodwin know what's happened. Check on the students. I'll see you girls later," With that he walked out of the room, giving the girls some privacy. Team RWBY, minus their leader all let out a sigh.
"I couldn't do it..." Weiss muttered to herself. Yang looked over to the smaller girl in confusion.
"What?" Yang had now fully recovered from... whatever that was that happened.
"I couldn't save them... their dead because of me...," Weiss began to well up once again. Blake looked up to Weiss as the nurse began to inspect her shoulder properly.
"Weiss. It's not your fault. Don't blame..." Blake began.
"I need to be alone...," Weiss quickly turned away and promptly left the room. Blake worriedly looked to Yang, wanting to go after her but unable to. Yang seemed indifferent in the matter and walked over to the bed that Ruby rested on. The question that played in both in their minds.
What the hell happened?
A/N: What happened indeed?! Well I don't think it's that hard to figure out but all shall be revealed eventually!
So... yeah... this has been a very long gap between the last chapter and I apologise. I even have a list of reasons why I fail.

So yeah the list above is my reasons/excuses but still I apologise. I chose to not give a description to Qrow because he might appear in this current Volume so I'll save it until if he's revealed. If not then I'll come up with a description matching his shown sillouette.
Now for some answers to some possible questions.
Will we see JNPR?
You heard the girls, they may need help so there is a high chance they will appear in the story.
Will we get chapters centred around the OC's?
No. This story is about RWBY and White Rose.
Will Sun make an appearance?
Maybe, he's a good stowaway after all.
What about Neptune?
NO! FUCK THAT NO GOOD, WOMANIZING, SELF-CENTRED, UN-CARING, BLUE HAIRED, MOTHER FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT! I refuse to even acknowledge his existence in this fic or any of my other ones!
Well that's about it. Like, Fav, leave a review and I hope to get back to you much sooner than last time.
