"It's an inhibitor collar; Megtaf technology." Barnes had just finished removing the collar. "They were created to suppress your abilities and keep you from using them."

Margaret froze. "You wanna run that by me again?!" She looked at Barnes, furious at his last statement. "Megtaf was creating weapons against my son?"

"Now Margaret, calm down. This was before we knew what he would be capable of or what he would do." Margaret turned and started to walk away. "You can't be mad at me. You need me right now."

"And what reason could I possibly have to need you right now?" she asks, without turning around.

"This collar is Megtaf technology and if I didn't order any kind of strike then that means whoever we are up against works for Megtaf. No one knows Megtaf like I do. You will need my help to figure out what happened."

Margaret let out a sigh and dropped her shoulders. She turns around and looks at him without blinking. After a minute of silence, she turns back around and walks away.

Belloc just stared as Margaret walked out. Duncan shivers. "Ooooooo. If looks could kill…"

"Yea, yea," Barnes said, annoyed.

"So, where's Kenny and Isabel?"

"We took them both home to get some rest and before their parents started worrying. You need to get back too, before Margaret has my head." Barnes walked out to the Megtaf jet. Duncan turned back to Belloc, who was still staring in the direction Margaret had walked out. Belloc turned to Duncan.

"I would heed Barnes' request before Margaret has both our heads." His thunderous voice echoed through the surroundings.

Hell hath no fury like a women scorned, Duncan thought while another shudder ran up his spine at the thought of Margaret's fury at the two men and the giant.

Duncan woke the next morning and looked at his hands. They were still blue, but as long as the cold wasn't bothering him, he didn't care. He walked downstairs and got a bowl of coal. After a few minutes Margaret woke up. She made herself some breakfast and sat at the kitchen island with Duncan.

"Soooooo…" He was hesitant. "Any leads on who ordered that inhibitor collar to be put on me?"

"No," she said, then continued eating.

"…have you spoken to Barnes yet?"

"No!"

"Okaaay…? Well, any word o…"

"I don't care! Just get it done!" Margaret reached up and took out a Bluetooth piece form her ear. She sighed. "Sorry, Duncan. That was Barnes catching me up."

"Oh!" he said with relief. "So what'd he say? Catch who did it?"

"Apparently Abbadon has begun to hire humans to do his dirty work. He finds those who agree with him that humans and kaiju shouldn't work together. However, his threats to these hired men cause them to want to take their own life with a poison pill, rather than face Abbadon for spilling any information. That is what happened in the desert."

"Oh. What about Astraroth?"

"Megtaf has already captured him and put him on ice to keep him in hibernation. We need to go out after breakfast and help them find Abbadon to put him on ice as well."

"Right." Duncan got up and headed for the door.

Margaret stopped him. "I said after breakfast. You need to finish eating."

Duncan sighed. She is still my mom after all. He thought and sat down to finish his coal.

They both met up with Barnes, Isabel, and Kenny at the edge of the desert, Each of them dressed in a Megtaf uniform. Belloc joined them as well.

"We were able to catch one of Abbadon's hired men before he could poison himself. We offered him protection against Abbadon as long as he told us where he is. He said the last he saw of him he was heading east into the desert to some hideout he has there. That's all we have gotten from him."

"So what? We just start heading east and hope we run into him?" Isabel asked sarcastically.

"No." Barnes answered. "You and Margaret will take the Megtaf jet and search northeast. Me and Kenny will head directly east to search. Duncan, you and Belloc will search southeast."

They all nodded in agreement.

"Whoever finds him first is to radio the rest of us. DO NOT ENGAGE UNTIL WE ARE ALL TOGETHER." Margaret added. Then she kissed Duncan on the forehead and climbed into the jet with Isabel. They all went their separate ways.

The first one to spot something was Kenny. Kenny was sitting in the jet staring out the window. All of a sudden he yells causing Barnes to flip the jet.

"FOOTPRINTS!"

After Barnes levels the jet again, Kenny looks at him with a 'what-was-that' kind of look.

"You didn't have to yell that at me!" Barnes glares at him. "You could have just told me that you saw something."

"Well, I figured I'd bring them to your attention quickly before we lost the trail."

"That doesn't matter. You could have gotten my attention just as quickly by just saying it in a normal level tone!"

"Well I'm sorry! I got excited that we actually found something after spending hours in this jet flying through this desert."

"We have only been out here an hour and I think you just overreacted."

However, through all they bickering, the trail had disappeared with the desert wind. They sat the rest of the time in silence, ignoring each other.

The next person to spot something was Isabel. About two and a half hours into their search, Isabel spotted something below them.

"Down there!"

"Margaret looked out the side window. "What do you see?"

"There's a cave down there. Could he be hiding out there?"

"Possibly. Lets check it out."

They landed and entered the cave. Though, it wasn't as deep as it looked from the outside, or as stable for that matter. As soon as they entered the cave, ceiling and walls began to crumble. Margaret jumped and pulled Isabel out of the cave. The whole thing had collapsed.

"I doubt anything was in there," Margaret stated. She radioed Barnes to get an update with him but all she heard was bickering on the other end. She sighed and rolled her eyes. "Men!"

"Tell me about it!" Isabel let out a small laugh.

Another couple hours later and Belloc is still walking through the desert, with Duncan flying above him, without having found anything. After a moment or so, Belloc stopped after noticing Duncan was no longer above him. He looked back to see him flying behind him just a few feet off the ground. Belloc stopped to allow Duncan a moments rest.

"I'm exhausted. My wings are sore." Duncan was breathing heavily after landing on the ground on his knees

"Rest my son. We have yet to find any leads anyway." Belloc laid down.

Duncan retracted his wings and fell to his back to rest, feeling the cold wind sweep across him. It was different. Ever since his body had compensated for the cold weather, he hadn't felt like his abilities were forcing themselves out. It was more under his control now. However, flying through the desert for several hours without rest had taken it toll. His wings were indeed tired and sore and he would have to walk form here. Laying on the ground, he felt a small vibration underneath him. He sat up and felt it again. He wasn't the only one. Belloc got up as well after feeling it. They both looked in the same direction, looking east. They both realized what the vibrations were. Footsteps.

"Come!" Belloc exclaimed and without warning he grabbed Duncan and put him on his back and took off running.

"Wait! If it is Abbadon, then we need to radio the others before we do anything!" Duncan yelled over the sound of the rushing wind.

"There is no time. We need to catch him." Belloc had no need to yell; his voice was loud enough.

As they ran, the vibrations got louder and more intense. Finally they found him. They stopped behind a large rock formation. Just as Duncan was about to radio the others, Belloc jumped out and attacked Abbadon. As they begun to fight, Duncan contacted the others and gave his location. They arrived only a few minutes later, landed and got out of the jets.

"What do I do?!" Duncan asked hurriedly. "How are we supposed to stop him?"

"Duncan! Done you remember? You have ice now, not fire. How do you think you stopped him last time?" Margaret said, matter-of-factly.

"Yea, but I haven't had enough practice with the ice yet!"

"You gotta try, Duncan," Isabel said, trying to encourage him.

Duncan sighed and ran off to help out his father. Belloc had just slammed Abbadon against a cliff behind him and knocked him out temporarily. He turned towards Duncan to see him on his way over. Abbadon woke up and threw Belloc several hundred feet away. Suddenly Duncan felt a rage inside him. He's eyes began to glow a bright blue. They were so bright they were almost white. His skin began to change into his thick, scaly kaiju hide, blue arms and legs and a glowing blue firebreath heart. His blueish-grey wings emerged and he shot like a bullet at Abbadon, knocking him, once again, into the cliff behind him. He began punching him as hard as he can, letting his fury fuel his strength. Once Abbadon lay limp on the ground he looked over at his friends. Barnes, as usually, was just standing there with his arms crossed with a small smirk on his face. Isabel and Kenny, however, had faces of shock. He hadn't heard Isabel yelling after him to stop, that Abbadon was down and he could stop. Margaret had a small expression of disappointment. After he realized what he had done, he sank to the ground and whispered a 'sorry' to his friends and mom. Abbadon had once again taken the cowardly approach and was about to attack Duncan with his back turned. Duncan saw Belloc running towards him yelling at him to look out. With almost snake-like reflexes, Duncan turned around, dodged Abbadon's attack, flew into the air, and shot flames of ice at him. Within seconds, Abbadon was nothing but a block of ice shaped like fire.

Four months later, winter was ending, Abbadon and Astraroth were still on ice at Megtaf HQ, and things were getting back to normal… well, as normal as they can be for Duncan Rosenblatt. Everyone at school seemed to like the new blue Duncan, but it didn't last. Once spring came, and the temperatures were higher, he was back to his orange, firey self. Belloc was still staying in the cave at Megtaf, but was free to come and go as he pleased. Duncan was still going to school and, due to Margaret's motherly nagging, already starting to look into colleges. Isabel and Kenny were starting that as well. But all of them are just wanting to enjoy the time they have in high school while it lasts.
