A/N: This chapter has been sitting on my flash drive with only a half page written, so after Sunday's newest episode I pulled it up and everything just seemed to come together. I hope you are all still around to read it and haven't given up on the story. I appreciate all the reviews and your patience as I try and find where I was going with this story.

A/N2: I own nothing to do with Game of Thrones...

Weeks upon weeks were going by and the disappointment in her situation was ever growing. In the past week alone she had only seen her husband in passing. He was standing guard outside of a door that she was sure led to the King's chambers and that had been nothing more than a fleeting glance as she made her way to meet Sansa in the gardens for a walk. Each day seemed harder than the last when all she wanted to do was to go back to Winterfell where she knew her brother would protect her from a life of loneliness that she was certain she was in for as the wife Jaime Lannister.

Having her father and sisters around did seem to help, but it wouldn't be forever. She knew that, but all her efforts to get closer to her husband seem to be in vain. Last week she had sent the maids to the kitchen to bring back a special dinner for Jaime upon his return from his duties, but he never came home that night. Or the following night. It was hurtful to even think of what he could be doing while she was stuck in this city. Yesterday she put on a dress that Sansa had made for her. It was a dark blue with silver embroidery. They were her favorite colors after all. After she was dressed she had gone down to the training yard in hopes that she would have a moment or two of his time, but he refused to even acknowledge her presence. It was another of the Kings guard that took pity on her and told her that Jaime would be busy training all afternoon before he was to have guard duty that afternoon.

This day she was thankful for his absence. Not only did she sleep in as she had been doing for the last four days, but on this day in particular she just wasn't able to shake the dizzy feeling or the one that led her to being sick. She didn't want Jaime or anyone to know that she was sick or that she had missed her courses. It was unusual for her to do so but she was sure it was just due to the stress she had been under since coming to her new home. While she was cleaning herself up she didn't see the maid quietly leaving the chambers. Juliana was just thankful that her husband hadn't found her while she was emptying her stomach.

When the urge to throw up was gone, Juliana cleaned herself up and dug through her chests until she found exactly what she needed. Her riding clothes and boots. With a small smile upon her lips, she wrote a note to her father requesting that Arya come with her for a ride. Handing it to one of the guards, she closed the door and continued to get ready until Arya arrived.

Juliana was sitting on her bed as she laced up her riding boots, but when she looked up she was a little surprised to see Jaime standing there. He didn't say anything to her, he just looked at her. Suppressing the urge to make a snarky remark to him, Juliana just ignored him as she continued to lace up her riding boots. Waiting for Jaime Lannister to say something while he looked at her was starting to annoy her.

"Have nothing to say?" he finally questioned her as he moved further into the room.

"I have lots to say," Juliana said. "But I didn't think you would wish to hear of anything since you hardly have it in you to come home after your duties."

To say she was not in the marriage she dreamed of as a little girl was right. She was married to a man that would take his pleasure with her body and leave his seed inside her, but when she attempted to know him he was no where to be found. Once she had her boots laced up and tied, she stood up and headed for the door. As soon as she was in reach of Jaime, he grabbed her arm forced her to sit down in the chair near their bed.

"I just intercepted one of my sister's spies," Jaime told her as he looked at her, looking as if he was trying to see something, but she did not know what. "She was going to tell her that you might just be with child."

"Each time you leave your seed inside me there is a chance I might become with child," Juliana glared at him as she stood up. "My sister is waiting for me. I wouldn't wait around for my return tonight. You might be surprised to find that you might prefer the bed to yourself."

Keeping out of her husband's reach, Juliana made her way to the door and left quickly. Hearing her guards behind her, she let out the breath she hadn't realized she had been holding. Hearing Jaime's words had taken the breath right out of her lungs. She knew that the sickness she had been feeling could be from a child growing in her, but that wasn't something she was ready for. More than anything she hoped it was just stress and nerves. Her mother told her once when she started bleeding once every month that could happen.

Seeing Arya at the stables Juliana smiled at her riding outfit. It wasn't the same one that she would have worn when they went riding together in the north, but it was exactly what she would expect from her youngest sister. "I wasn't sure if you would want to go riding today. I hear there is a dance lesson soon."

"Did Sansa tell you that?" Arya asked as they walked into the stables.

Watching her older sister take two horses, she waited to speak until they were riding. Riding in Winterfell had been something Juliana had done to escape something that was bothering her. It was easy to see that her older sister was worried about something, but the stables was not the place to talk about it. As soon as their horses were saddled, Juliana smiled at Arya and instead of leaving out of the main entrance where she knew there were Lannister guards, they went deeper into the stables where there was a hidden exit.

Smiling the two sisters rode out of the stables without the guards following them. Knowing that she had to be careful at where they would venture to. After racing to a secluded spot, the sisters dismounted and walked their horses to the stream that was nearby. Allowing the horses to drink, Arya and Juliana sat near them.

"If I were to run away," Juliana smiled at her sister. "Would you tell on me?"

Arya snorted before shaking her head at her sister. "You don't have it in you to run away. No matter how much you wish to leave this place, you have the loyalty of the Stark's in you still."

Letting out a sigh, Juliana nodded her head in agreement with what Arya had said. "I'm always going to be a Stark. I think I was trying to be something I wasn't, for Jaime. Then maybe he would notice that he actually has a wife to come home to."

"You shouldn't have to change for anyone," Arya told her. "Especially a Lannister."

"He still disappears," Juliana told her sister. "He won't tell me where he goes. If he is being unfaithful I need to know."

"Are you going to have him followed?" Arya asked, knowing the answer before even asking it.

"I have to," Juliana sighed. "I won't be made a fool of. This is something I need to know."

"Jory would help you." Arya said thinking of the first person that would be willing to help her sister.

"Jaime knows who Jory is," Juliana reminded her. "I need someone that he would not recognize and knows how to blend in when necessary."

"Who do you have in mind?"

"No one comes to mind," Juliana sighed. "I would have sent Bran if he were here, but he is not."

"Have you heard anything about Bran?" Arya asked. "Has he woken up yet?"

"I haven't heard anything from home," Juliana said. "Did you send my letter to Robb?"

"I had to wait until the next day," Arya told her. "But I sent it. I swear."

"I believe you Arya," she said smiling at her sister. "Now when is your next dancing lesson? I do believe it is time that I come and support you while you learn something you are so passionate about."

"Tomorrow," Arya told her. "Will you really come?"

"I give you my word," Juliana told her. "I must meet this dance master that has my youngest sister so happy these days."

"Can we go ride some more?" Arya asked as she got to her feet.

"Yes," Juliana told her as they made their way to their horses. "After Jaime hears that I have left his guards behind then I am sure I will not hear the end of it. Maybe I shall stay with you tonight."

"You are always welcome," Arya said as they mounted their steeds. "Father says so. We all miss you. It isn't the same. You being in the same city, but not near us."

As the sun went down, Juliana found herself in her father's study with the door shut and Jory outside the door with the instructions not to allow anyone to enter until Lord Stark gave permission. Glancing around the room, Juliana could tell her father was looking into something important, but it was not her business. She trusted her father with everything inside her. Her whole life he believed in her and never thought less of her when she didn't turn out to be the perfect lady like Sansa was.

"Ser Jaime sent Lannister guards here when he found out that the ones that were to follow you lost you or rather you lost them."

"I never had to have guards before and he thinks that because he is a Lannister that he must have me guarded at all times."

"Juliana…" Ned started as he sat down in his chair across the desk from his eldest daughter. "We are no longer in the north. Our allies are few in this warm weather."

"Our enemies are many."

"And what enemies have you made?"

"I've rejected tea with the queen twice now," Juliana said. "I'm sure it wasn't out of the goodness of her heart that she wished for me to join her."

"Do you know what you are doing?" he asked her, worried that she didn't understand the game that she might have involved herself in by rejecting the queen's invitation.

"I know that I'm newly married and yet when my husband isn't training soldiers or guarding the door that I never know where he is. Once in awhile he comes to our chambers. It makes me wonder where he is the rest of the time."

"He is a busy man."

"Are you saying you know where he is?" she asked, looking at her father in the eyes. "Because if you do I want to know. No, I need to. The guessing is making me go insane."

"Have you spoken to your husband about this?"

"Do you think he would tell me if he were bedding another?" Juliana asked her father. "Or even admit it? He is nothing like you Father. No one in the south is like you."

"What would you have me do?"

Looking upon his daughter, Ned was at a loss. When his wife first put her into his arms after returning home from the war, he made himself a promise that he would whatever he could for her. By the Gods he wanted nothing more than to keep that promise. The only problem with that was each day the south was becoming more and more dangerous for anyone that had the name Stark or had their blood running in their veins.

"Is there someone you trust that could follow him? Someone that he wouldn't recognize that would also blend in if it came to that," Juliana asked. "I want to trust him and I know I have given him no reason to trust me, but none of this makes any sense to me."

"Every marriage is different," her father advised her. "But if this is what you want then I will have someone follow him. When would you like it to be done?"

"The sooner the better."

"Juliana…" he sighed. "When you learn of whatever he has been doing. It does not change anything. You will still be his wife."

"It will change everything," she told him. "If it is as bad as I believe it to be then he will be a husband in name only. I will make arrangements to live elsewhere. I won't be part of this."

"And when he wishes for you to become with child?"

Juliana closed her eyes and leaned back in her chair. Placing both her hands upon her flat stomach she looked at her father with genuine fear in her eyes. Fear he had not seen in a long time. "There is a chance that he already has. It is part of the reason I must know."

Of all the things his daughter could have confessed to him, that was not something that Lord Stark had been prepared to hear. When Ser Jaime had come looking for Juliana, he never mentioned that she could be carrying his child. That seemed suspicious to him and something else to look into. Everything that he had been looking into was pointing into the direction of an unhappy ending for his daughter and more than anything he wanted to avoid having her go through with that pain.

"We will find out the answers," he promised her. "And for tonight-"

"I hope you do not mind father," Juliana smiled already knowing that he would not. "But Arya and I are going to pretend we are in Winterfell and sleep next to one another. As long as I am allowed to stay for the night."

"Juliana," he told her with a kind smile on his face. "Our door is always open for you."

Neither of them would mention what was said, but it did not take away from the worry that they had of Ser Jaime showing up looking for her. He could see how tired she was becoming and told her to go upstairs and get some sleep like her sisters were doing. Tomorrow was another day to look into the worries that plagued them both.
