Patrick must have been shocked when Sabrina kissed him because he froze for a moment. When he tried to pull away, Sabrina held him in place. So, he did the only thing he could do… give into the passion that had been locked inside him for so long by pulling her towards him and kissing her back with everything he had.

They kissed like that, with her in the tub - naked - and him fully clothed outside of it for a few minutes until the fire burning between them was too hot to resist. Dripping, Patrick pulled away and yanked his wet button-down over his head. When it was gone, he lept into the tub with Sabrina, pants and all, just to be close to her.

Sabrina momentarily giggled when Patrick jumped in the tub with her; however, her laughter faded the second his lips were on hers again and his hands began roaming all over her body. Sabrina pulled him even closer and dug her nails into his back, giving him silent permission to keep going.

Sabrina was surprised, however, when Patrick stilled and then pulled away from her. He stood up, soaking wet, and stepped out of the tub. Breathing heavily and confused, she asked, "What are you doing?"

Clearly laboring to get himself under control, he responded, "We can't do this. Not now. Not like this." Squishing as he walked, he made it to the door and opened it. "I'll wait outside until you're done."

"Patrick," Sabrina said as she pulled her knees to her chest.

"Yeah."

"If you want to change, there are a few things of Nate's in the dresser by the bed."

Patrick nodded sharply, walked out and closed the door behind him. .

Sabrina brought her trembling hands to her forehead and shook her head in disbelief. How could she mourn one man while burning for another?

A few minutes later…

When Sabrina came out of the bathroom clad in her bathrobe, Patrick was barefoot and wearing a pair of Nate's gym shorts and a tee shirt. Sabrina paused a moment, likely thrown by him (unhappily) wearing her dead husband's clothes. However, considering his were soaked and it was cold, he didn't have much of a choice.

"I hope you don't mind. I put these on and ran my clothes down to the laundry room to dry," he said.

"No, it's fine… I wouldn't have told you where they were otherwise."

After an uncomfortable silence, Sabrina asked, "Patrick, why did you stop in there?" She swallowed and added shyly, "Don't you want me?"

In response, Patrick stalked over to her and grabbed her by the upper arms. "How can you ask me that, Sabrina? You're all I've wanted since that day you fell down the stairs."

"Then...why did you stop?"

At her question, Patrick lifted Nathan's ring from her chest and held it in his hand. "Because of this."

"Nate's ring?"

"Today isn't about us, Sabrina. It's about you dealing with the anniversary of Nate's death. We can't make love just so you can block out your other emotions."

"Why not, Patrick? I feel like a part of me died with him. I just want to feel alive again - and I only feel like that with you."

Patrick pulled Sabrina into a hug. Then, he pulled away just enough so that he could look in her eyes. "Sabrina, when we make love again, and we will, it will be about us. Only us. Not a distraction from the pain or a means of comfort like last time."

When Sabrina went to talk, he laid a finger over her lips and continued, "It will be about me finally being able to show you how much I still love you. About taking my time and exploring your body while I drive you crazy with need. And, it will be about you wanting to be with me - and thinking only about me. About us. And about how good things can be if you just open your heart and let me back in."

Patrick kissed her lightly on the lips and then backed away while she processed his declaration. Sabrina had shared him with Robin's memory, willingly, and he'd never appreciated the discipline and understanding that required until he'd been thrust into the same situation. Although he knew he never thought about Robin when they made love despite missing his wife, he wasn't sure Sabrina was at the place yet where she could have sex with a man, any man, and not pretend he was her husband. Maybe it made him selfish, but Patrick would be damned if Nathan would share the bed with them. When they finally made love again as a couple, Patrick would make damn sure he was the only man on Sabrina's mind.
