Previous chapter:
"Nana is mine."
"Whatever you say Tuna." He teased.
"Dad." He whined, "you need to stop calling me that."
"I will when you're finally taller than me." He chuckled, as the mask was placed over his sons face, "I'll be here when you wake up okay?"
Tsuna nodded slightly and closed his eyes.
Waking up in a hospital isn't the most pleasant of experiences. It's very jarring and disorienting especially if your memory blanks out for those first 10 seconds that you're awake. "Tsuna!" Iemitsu yelled, as he looked around frantically, "you're okay! You're just in the hospital!"
Tsuna visabally calmed down, grasping his father's wrist tightly. "How long will I be here?" He asked softly.
"Well thanks to your friends sun flames you're all healed." He replied with a grin, "right now you're probably just groggy. You're pretty much free to go as soon as you wake up some more."
"That's good." Tsuna replied, sitting up more, "the sooner I take care of those two the better."
"Right." Iemitsu sighed looking down at his lap.
"What's wrong dad?" Tsuna asked, catching his forlorn expression.
"I'm so sorry Tsuna." He wheezed, "I should never have left you with them for so long."
His brought his hands up to his face to cover his eyes. "I had a feeling that something was wrong as soon as she gave birth to you two, and I still left anyways."
"Dad, It's okay. I'm fine now." He said softly, "It's true that I'll never get those years back of my life, and you leaving was the wrong thing to do. You still came back, and took me away from there."
He grabbed him in a tight hug. "I'll forever be grateful for you saving me."
He pulled away and threw his legs over the side of the bed. "Are you ready to go now?" Iemitsu asked.
He nodded with a grim expression. "I think it's about time to face the music anyways."
They grabbed all his stuff after talking to the doctor and got in a waiting car at the front. "I have to be honest though." Tsuna started, "I can't entirely blame Natsu for any of this."
"What the hell?" Iemitsu replied, "Why not?"
"He's a perfect product of his environment." He replied, "He was raised in a way that showed that violence towards me didn't result in any type of punishment, rather he was praised for it."
His father bit his lip as he continued. "Even though violence towards others is bad and he knows it is, he still had no consequences for ever playing out those scenarios because Nana also acted out on her violent urges." He sighed as he looked out the window, "It's a shame really, I feel like if we had been raised as equals things wouldn't have turned out this way."
"Nana on the other hand is a complete psychopath." He stated boredly, "with the ability to change her skin to whatever the situation calls for."
They sat in silence for the rest of the car ride until they pulled up to a concrete building with the Vongola symbol embedded in the sidewalk. "Are you sure you're ready for this?" Iemitsu asked.
"If you think I'm still scared of this woman you are sorely mistaken." Tsuna replied, narrowing his eyes as they walked past the front door guards.
"But Xanxas told me that she tried to attack you at school." He argued softly.
"I needed her to think that I was scared of her so she wouldn't think that I was suspicious of her." He replied opening the door to the cells.
He paused for a second to look into his dad's eyes. "I haven't been scared of her since you told me that every single member of Vongola was my family, and that I was going to be safe and protected."
Iemitsu bit his lip again, trying to mask his emotions before giving him a proud nod. "Okay," He sniffed, "I'll be right here if you need me."
Tsuna returned the nod and headed down the long hallway. "Bring Nana out of her cell and into room A." He stated to the guard, "make sure she's in full chain too."
The guard grunted in confirmation and turned towards the cells with keys. Tsuna grabbed his files from the office and headed over to room A with them under his arm. The guard opened the door as he approached. "Are you staying out here until we're done?" He asked.
"Yes sir." He replied.
"Good, let me know if anything happens with the other one."
The door closed with a metallic bang after he sat down across from the seething woman. "I kept the ponytail, I think it gives me a nice aesthetic." Tsuna chuckled.
"I told you to cut it off." She hissed.
"Unfortunately, I don't answer to you." He replied, with a shrug, "that's way out of your hands."
Nana kept silent with a deadly glare aimed at him. "Not talking for once?" He asked in mock surprise, "let's just get down to business then. Obviously you're not going to be tried in a court of law seeing as you don't exist now in the country of Japan."
"Excuse me?" Nana snapped, "What the hell are you talking about!"
"You messed with an organization that is technically above the law, so you're going to be taken care of by our system now. I got into contact with some of my people in the Japanese criminal justice system." He replied, "You've officially never been born."
"You think you can actually get away with this!?" She screamed, "an idiotic demon like you could never dream of something like this! Do I need to beat that into your stupid head again!?"
She trust her hands across the table to grab at his head, but she stopped short by a couple of inch due to the heavy chains around her wrists that locked her to the ground. "I would absolutely love to taunt you right now but I'm not a child anymore and this is serious business." He glared, "so if you would let me get through this I can deal with your son next."
She brought her hands slowly back to rest on her lap as she watched him expectantly. "Great." He scoffed, standing up from his chair and moving around the room.
"The first charges are to the Vongola family are as follows: Treason to the Vongola family, espionage, and intent to cause harm. The second charges are to the Yamamoto family: Arson, attempted murder, level 3 aggravated assault, and emotional damage occurring to Yamamoto Takeshi. The third charges are to the Sawada family: Child abuse, child neglect, level 2 assault resulting in bodily harm, and emotional damage occurring to Sawada Tsunayoshi." He read of his file, "that sound about right?"
She glared down at the table. "How can you do this to your mother?" She asked angrily.
"Are we actually going down this route right now?" Tsuna growled, slamming the file down on the table, "don't put on your lizard skin right now when you know you're completely screwed. That shit isn't going to work on me."
He took a deep breath to calm his anger down. "You know I wanted to do so much worse than this to you, but I just can't stand the thought of actually turning into a monster like you or Natsu." He hummed, "I'm going to take after my father, and always be proud of the fact that I'm the reason that he left you."
"So you finally admit it." She yelled, "that you're the reason that this family fell apart."
"And we're better for it," He replied, "If you're the type of person that thinks a newborn baby is a demon then you've got a lot of problem don't you?"
He grasped the handle and exited into the hallway. "You can take her back to her cell now." He told the guard.
"How did it go?" Iemitsu asked hesitantly.
"Fine," Tsuna shrugged, "just as well as you would think it would."
Iemitsu sighed heavily, "I honestly thought I would have to grab a body bag for you." He stated.
"I did too when we were walking in here." Tsuna replied, "I didn't know how I was going to react to her but I just thought of how much that I didn't want to be like her and I think that starts with me not doing what she did to me."
Iemitsu nodded as he listened. "Did you talk to Natsu?" Tsuna asked.
He shook his head. "I don't really know how to approach the situation after what you told me in the car on the way over." He grumbled.
"I thought you would." Tsuna snorted, with a small grin, "really makes you think, eh?"
"Want to confront this together?" Iemitsu asked.
"Sure, why not?" Tsuna shrugged, "did you already get him put in a room?"
"108B." He replied, stopping in front of it, "I didn't know if you would say yes so I lead you here anyways."
"You're such a dork." He laughed in disbelief.
Natsu's head shot up as soon as they came in the door. "I'm going to give the same address that Nana got and we can be on our way." Iemitsu stated, sitting at the table while Tsuna stood by his side.
"It's good to finally see you again Dad." Natsu said, with a look of wonder, "mom always knew that you would come home."
"She really did create a mini-me out of you didn't she?" Iemitsu stated, in a defeated tone.
"What do you mean?" Natsu asked in confusion.
"She made you believe all these ways of the word that just aren't true." He sighed, rubbing his temples, "and that caused you to become a monster like her. Did you know that she burned down Yamamoto's house with his father inside?"
"Yeah, so?" He replied, with a tilt of his head, "It had to be done."
"Can't you see that that's wrong?!" Iemitsu yelled, "how would you have felt if that was your house with your mother inside?"
"I would kill them." He replied almost instantly.
Shock and disgust made itself clear on his face. "Do you not see anything wrong with that?" He whispered, "there's no helping you anymore."
"Dad, I'll just read his charges so we can get out of here." Tsuna said softly, putting a supporting hand on his shoulder.
He took his fathers place and the table and once again brought out the file. "The first charges are to the Vongola family are as follows: Treason to the Vongola family, espionage, and intent to cause harm. The second charges are to the Yamamoto family: withholding information about a crime, and emotional damage occurring to Yamamoto Takeshi. The third charges are to the Sawada family: level 2 assault causing bodily harm, attempted murder, level 3 aggravated assault, physical and emotional abuse, and emotional damage occurring to Sawada Tsunayoshi." He finished closing the file again, "both yourself and Nana will be flown to Italy to be held at the Vongola prison in Florence where you will serve life sentences under us."
"We had protection." He growled, "they'll still protect us."
"That's been taken care of I'm afraid." Tsuna replied, "that sniper that shot me was actually with us the whole time so we've been able to track that family down."
"We'll see you back in Florence when you get settled." He stated as he stood up and joined his father at the door, "maybe we'll be able to talk like normal brothers someday."
They stood silent in the hallway for a minute before they both headed towards the exit. Tsuna pulled his phone out of his pocket as it rung. "Hey Xanxas, how's it going?" He asked.
"Are you done yet?" He asked.
"Yeah, we're getting in the car to go to the airport now." He replied.
"You're going back to Italy now?" He asked, "what about all your stuff?"
"Don't need it. I just want to go home." He sighed.
"You're so spoiled." Xanxas huffed, "I'll meet up with you in Italy in a few days. I'm going to pack all this stuff up. Someone has to clean up after you."
"Fine. Fine." He laughed as he hung up the phone and put it back in his pocket.
Again he watched at the scenery outside the window at they drove towards the airport.
"How are you feeling now that it's all over?" Iemitsu asked, scrolling through his own phone.
"I think it was just the closure I needed." He sighed, closing his eyes.
