400 years later...finally another update for you.

Roman woke up the next morning feeling the best he had in over a year. He couldn't remember a time he had slept so well. He stretched his long limbs, recalling last night's events. His brow furrowed when he realized Shiloh was gone.

He reached up to turn on the light, not seeing any sign of her. He glanced at the clock beside the bed. It wasn't even nine o'clock yet. He threw the cover off of him and reached down to grab his shirt from the floor. He remembered taking it off last night and seeing the look of uncertainty on Shiloh's face.

Deep down he was glad that she had stopped them last night. As much as he didn't want to admit it, not sleeping with her was for the best.

They barely knew each other. Then there was the looming factor of her being Vince's daughter.

In the moment, he had planned to fuck her six ways to Sunday. He hadn't mulled over her baggage long enough to care at the time. He had been too lost in claiming all of her exotic beauty for himself.

There was a beep and then the door opened slowly.

Shiloh peeked her head in, "Oh, I'm sorry I woke you up."

"No, I was already awake." he said pulling his hair back into a messy bun, "Where did you go?"

She shut the door behind her, "Seth and I went for a run and then got some breakfast."

She was standing awkwardly in the room a few feet from him. Her eyes stayed lowered on the carpet, which disappointed him immensely. He had become fascinated with her eyes after last night. Seeing all of her emotions play across them had him almost obsessively trying to get a glimpse into them.

He could feel the tension pouring off of her in waves. It would have been a hundred times worse if they had actually slept together.

"Are you ready for me to take you back?"

"Yeah. I'm ready when you are." she shrugged.

He stared at her, trying to read her, "Is this going to be weird after last night?"

She blushed, "No. I mean, I don't want it to be. Last night was stupid because of Randy, but I, I had a really great time with you."

He smirked, grabbing a change of clothes, "Just checking. Let me get ready and then we'll leave."

He moved past her to go to the bathroom.

She blew out a breath. "Way to go Shi, way to play it cool. He's probably thinking you're a stage five clinger," she yelled at herself mentally.

He had made no indication that he felt the same as her about last night. She was just another girl to him, probably worse than that because she had stopped them before they went too far. If she could buy confidence from somewhere she would have.

He probably felt sorry for her. He could probably tell how inexperienced she was from their brief encounter. She pulled herself back together hearing the bathroom door open. She had to get out of here. She quickly grabbed her purse to wait down in the lobby for him. The tension was suffocating her.

Her fingertips had just touched the handle when he spun her around and backed her against it. Before she could fully register what was happening, his mouth covered hers once again.

She thought nothing could get better than last night. She had never been happier to be wrong in her life. He cradled her face in both of his hands and kissed her like he would never kiss anyone ever again.

He pulled away, radiating his emotions in one heavy gaze, "Last night was amazing Shi."

She blinked in confusion.

"I could tell you were doubting yourself." he chuckled, "You're actually very easy to read."

"No one has ever told me that." she murmured, surprised by his statement.

"It's your eyes. They give you away all the time," he told her truthfully as he pulled his hair back up after his shower.

She chewed on her lip, looking up at him mischievously, "Guess I'll have to start wearing sunglasses around you."

He snickered as he reached around her for the door, deliberately coming in close to her mouth again, "Where's the fun in that?"

They stopped off at Dean and Seth's room and then made their way back to Shiloh's hotel.

"His car is gone," Roman remarked as they pulled into the parking lot of her hotel.

"Doesn't mean that he's gone." Dean mused darkly as he climbed out of the SUV.

"So what's his deal with you anyways?" Seth asked quietly as they walked behind Dean and Roman.

She sighed as they entered the lobby, "I don't know. He's always hated me. We grew up together and I've always been an easy target for him."

"Pretty sure he doesn't hate you," Dean muttered as they got onto the elevator.

She shrugged, "He's always been an asshole to me but he's never gone this far before."

They got off the elevator on her floor.

"Give me your key," Roman ordered holding out his hand as he scanned the hallway.

She fished the key card from her purse and handed it to him.

"Stay here with Seth."

She was about to protest until she saw an eerie look of calmness across Dean's face.

"I hope he's in there." he breathed before following Roman to her door.

Shiloh closed her eyes and prayed for the opposite. As much as she hated Randy, she didn't want to deal with the ramifications of him catching a beat down on her behalf.

"It'll be okay Shi." Seth soothed her, "He's probably gone by now anyway; and if not, he'll get what he deserves."

A few moments later Roman motioned for them to come over to her room.

"He's not here. Just make sure all of your things are okay," he said, his brow furrowed in anger.

Dean apparently wasn't the only one disappointed at Randy's absence.

She came into the room cautiously. Everything seemed to be in its place from what she could tell. She peeked in the bathroom, checked her suitcase, nothing looked amiss.

"Everything looks fine to me," she said, going to plug her phone in at the desk.

Her breath hitched in her chest when she noticed the flowers on the table. The arrangement had already been in the room when she had initially checked in, but there was a subtle difference.

Randy had left a calling card that only she would find.

"What's wrong?" Seth questioned, placing a comforting hand on her back.

The guys had been quietly talking at the door about what their next move should be when Seth noticed her staring at the vase. She pulled out a single daisy that was hidden among the other blooms.

Dean snapped his fingers in her face, "Hey, what's going on? Something we need to know?"

Seth and Roman shared a loaded look because of Dean's brashness.

She frowned at the flower before tossing it in the trash, "No, it's nothing. He's just being a smartass."

She looked up at their blank stares. They obviously had no idea what she was talking about.

"Daisy. It's his stupid nickname for me. He left a daisy so I would know I pissed him off." she elaborated.

"Yeah well, fuck him and his flowers. We've got to go and get ready for tonight. You've got my number if he shows up." He grabbed her chin is his large hand, "I better be your first call."

She smiled, despite being terrified of the warning, "You will be. Thank you for everything, all of you."

"See ya later. Seriously, call one of us if he starts any shit with you." Seth said giving her a hug.

"I promise," she replied, kissing his cheek.

"I'll be right behind you," Roman called to them, still watching her intently.

She noticed he had made no movement at all since she had found the daisy. He had suddenly began watching her whenever he felt something was off with her. It was odd and uncomfortable going from watching people to being watched.

"I'm fine Roman. You don't have to babysit me." She groaned once the door shut.

His tongue snaked out across his lips, "I know you're scared. Whatever that flower was, scared you. I saw your face change."

"Stop being so observant." she mocked him, using his own words from last night against him.

"Okay." He gave in, "Be careful Shi."

He wasn't going to force her to do anything she didn't want to do. That included opening up to him about Randy.

"Roman, wait." She stopped him, "I'm sorry. I'm not used to someone...caring about what happens to me. Nobody ever asks me if I'm okay."

He wet his lips again, his mercurial eyes cold. It shouldn't matter to him about her family and their dealings with each other. He had made it a point to remain neutral any time she brought them up to him. Hearing her vocalize how utterly alone she really was ignited a fire deep in his belly. Growing up the way he did and with his heritage, family was everything. He couldn't wrap his head around what it would feel like to not be able to pick up the phone and call one of his cousins.

"Sometimes that scares me more than Randy does." she finally admitted sheepishly.

Her eyes had filled with tears. Saying that out loud was as embarrassing as it was hurtful.

He finally nodded after a long pause, "I get it. I hate that they don't protect you, Shi. You're worth that at the very least."

"I'm sorry I'm so messed up and got you involved." She whispered, dropping her eyes to the carpet again.

She didn't want to see the pity on his face.

"We're all fucked up. You don't have to apologize for it." He told her in his quiet voice.

The truth of his statement hung in the air between them. She heard the door open and close before she finally looked up. After he left, she wanted to leave as soon as possible. She took a quick shower and changed before grabbing her phone to make flight arrangements. Usually, she was upset having to return to her palatial prison. This would be the first time she was thankful for a return to monotony.

The screen lit up revealing a text message from Stephanie.

I need to speak with you.

Shiloh groaned loudly. What hoop was she going to have to jump through this time?

Dean knocked on the door of Stephanie's office warily.

"Come in," she called.

He put on his game face and let himself in, "You wanted to see me?"

"Yes, please have a seat." she smiled warmly.

He eyed her suspiciously. She was almost too happy to see him.

"Can I get you anything to drink?" she offered, going to the mini-fridge in the corner of the room.

He shook his head, "I'd like to know why I'm here."

He heard her chuckle as she pulled a bottled water out.

"You know, despite our recent differences, I've always admired your ability to get straight to the point."

He leaned back in his seat, lacing his fingers together over his midsection. He would let her play her games. They both knew he was far too cunning for it to last for long.

"I want to give you exactly what you've worked all these years for. I want to give you the recognition you deserve. Title shots. Tag title shots. Main events. Headlining Wrestlemania has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?" She leaned on her desk in front of him waiting for his response.

Dean mulled over the possibilities she had just presented him with. It sounded too good to be true.

He smirked, "What's all that going to cost to me? That's a pretty sweet deal for a guy like me."

Stephanie crossed her arms with a grin, "I appreciate your skepticism."

He shrugged indifferently, "I'm not dumb enough to believe this shit is for free. So what do you want?"

"I want you to play ball." She said without hesitation, "I want you to play along and give your best attempt to not be such a distraction to what I have planned."

He leaned forward, running his hands up and down his black jeans, "What does that mean exactly?"

Stephanie slowly paced around the room, "You would be working with us instead of against us. You would keep up appearances as The Shield of course. That angle is far too valuable to break up just yet. There would be no interference from any of you unless it is orchestrated through The Authority first."

Dean stared a hole through the floor trying to weigh all of his options. He knew better than to get in bed with the devil. He was also a firm believer in keeping your friends close and your enemies closer. He never had any qualms about manipulating a situation to benefit his needs. As much as he detested any and all authority, aligning himself with them could get him further access to what they were planning behind the scenes.

"What about Seth and Roman?" He asked.

She smiled knowingly, "They will be brought into the circle as well. I made plans for all of you."

He chewed on his lip before nodding, "Alright. I can be a team player."

Stephanie clapped her hands together smugly, "I knew you'd make the right choice."

He snickered, "Don't get too excited. You screw me over and I'll make sure you regret it."

He expected her to cower or even flinch. No one was quite sure how to handle him when he flipped the crazy switch.

A ghost of a smile flickered across her face, "There is no reason why this can't be a mutually beneficial relationship. Meet back here at eight tonight so we can go over plans with Hunter and Kane."

He left without another word. What the hell was he thinking agreeing to being a lackey for the Authority? More important than that was Seth and Roman. They were his brothers. They had to be on the same page to be able to come out on the other side of this.

Shiloh had taken her time making her way to the arena. She was still in a relatively good mood after her night with Roman and didn't want her sister to ruin it. She took a deep breath before knocking on the Authority's headquarters for the night.

The door swung open forcefully by her sister's husband. An evil, all-knowing smirk crossed his face. She timidly stepped further into the room and that's when the tension hit her. It covered her like a wet blanket.

She knew Randy would be there as well. His expression was unreadable. She took that as a bad sign because she could read him like a book whether he meant for her to or not.

Dean was sitting on the armrest of the couch looking just as surprised to see her as she was him. He gave her a slight shrug of his shoulders indicating that he was just as clueless as she was.

She caught Stephanie's outline to her right and turned to face her, "You wanted to see me?"

"Where were you last night?" Stephanie asked her tone deadly calm.

Shiloh knew better than to lie, "I went out to a club."

"With who?" she continued, crossing her arms.

Shiloh hesitated. She didn't want to get the guys in trouble because of her.

Before she could come up with an alternate solution, Dean piped up behind her, "We took her out for her birthday.

Stephanie's eyes darted to him, "And then where did you go?"

She raised her chin defiantly, "I went back to my hotel."

The silence in the room was deafening. Before anyone could react, Stephanie's hand shot out like lightning and slapped Shiloh across her face. She toppled to the ground, her ears ringing from the blow.

Dean was on his feet in an instant to shield her from her sister. He stopped midstride seeing Hunter slowly shaking his head. He tensed his jaw and sank back down to his perch on the couch.

He had agreed to play by their rules within reason, but he hadn't signed up for this.

"Lie to me again Shiloh." Stephanie hissed.

She flexed her jaw and wiped the blood from her lip, "I did go back to my hotel."

She loomed over her sister, "I swear Shiloh, I will beat the truth out of you if I have to."

"I didn't stay there because of him!" She yelled, pointing at Randy in the corner, "He broke into my room last night."

Randy scoffed, "You weren't answering your phone, so I went to check on you. When you didn't answer your door, I got a key made to make sure you were okay. If you had been in your room, I would have left you alone, no questions asked. You never came home Shi."

"You're such a liar! You had no business coming to my room at all." Shiloh yelled at him.

She had never hated him more than she did right then.

"Shut up. Both of you." Stephanie seethed, "If it hadn't been for Randy, I wouldn't have known you were gone at all. Anything could have happened to you, do you realize that?"

Dean snorted at her last comment, earning another head shake from Hunter.

"Where were you then, since you never went back to your room?" Stephanie questioned pointedly.

Shiloh rose to her feet to stare her sister in her eyes, "I don't have to tell you anything."

She read her sister's expression easily. She was confused at first that Shiloh had the balls to actually defy her out loud. That was quickly followed by rage.

"What is that?" Stephanie narrowed her eyes at a small mark below Shiloh's ear, "Is that a hickey?"

"I burnt myself, what does it matter?" Shiloh covered quickly.

Her face flushed slightly and she knew she was caught. Stephanie looked at her husband and nodded. He grabbed Shiloh from behind and tore at her clothing. The fabric ripped loudly in the silent room. She tried to hold her shirt together but it was no use. She crossed her arms to cover her strapless bra and tried to take a defiant stance.

"That's enough!" Randy shouted, trying to intervene.

He came between her and Hunter, daring him to keep coming at her.

"What happened last night Shiloh? Or did you burn yourself everywhere else too?" Stephanie hissed waving her hands at all of the marks Roman had left on her sister.

"Nothing happened. We made out together but we stopped before anything else happened." she cried earnestly.

Shame crept over her. She could feel everyone's eyes on her after admitting what happened during her night with Roman.

"Shiloh..." Stephanie warned lowly, taking a step closer.

"I swear." She looked her sister in the eyes as her tears fell, "I swear."

"You know the rules. You are only to entice him, never anything else. Never...this!" She motioned to the marks on her body.

"I know. I didn't mean to. I was upset about Randy and..." She tried to explain.

"About Randy?" Hunter sneered, "You should be thanking him for checking up on your spoiled rotten ass in the first place."

"You want her to thank him for terrorizing her and breaking into her room?" Dean laughed sarcastically.

"Stay out of it Ambrose," Hunter ordered, cutting his eyes at the younger man.

"We're waiting." Stephanie sang.

Shiloh lifted her chin defiantly, furious tears welling in her eyes as she looked into Randy's eyes, "Thank you...Randy."

His jaw flexed as he stared down at her. Why did she always do this to him? He wanted to kiss her and shake her at the same time.

"We're done here. Go back to the hotel until I can figure out what to do with you." Stephanie spat, "And if you ever forget your place again, I'll be the one putting bruises on you."

Dean left behind her without so much as a glance in her direction.

"Damnit, Shi. What the fuck were you thinking?" Randy growled, pulling his own shirt over his head.

He lifted her to her feet roughly and put his shirt on her.

"I didn't want to be near you, you asshole." she screamed, "You should have never come to my hotel. None of this would have happened if you would have just left me alone."

Randy was as rigid as a statue staring down at her, "You let him touch you because of me?"

The venom in his voice was so acidic she froze, "What?"

He had been plenty mad at her during their long history together, but she had never seen him this livid. He was shaking he was so furious at her.

Randy stepped to her, "I will kill him if he..."

"No. Stop it." She grated out, "Nothing happened. He's just another mark."

Randy continued to glare at her, raising his finger slowly up to her face, "Make sure he fucking stays that way."

He moved past her, slamming the door open against the wall and stalking down the hallway. Shiloh went to the couch and collapsed onto it. The despair of letting down her sister coupled with the humiliation of being exposed made her stomach churn. She drew her knees up to her chest to rest her head on her folded arms.

"Ya know, every time you said you weren't like the rest of your family, I actually believed you," Dean drawled, leaning against the doorway.

She snapped her head up to look at him. She hadn't even heard him approach.

He shrugged indifferently, "I'm used to being disappointed and let down. Roman on the other hand...I'm not so sure he's going to be so blasé about all of this."

"Dean, I swear. I tried to protect him. I tried to keep all of you out of this." She explained earnestly, "I don't want him to get hurt."

He snorted in contempt, his green eyes almost glowing with fury, "You're a really shitty liar Shi. What do you care anyway? He's just another mark, right?"

She closed her eyes, letting the tears fall. She hadn't meant for him to hear that. She only said it to appease Randy. Hearing Dean repeat it though, she realized how awful it sounded out loud

"Stay clear of us, especially Roman. You're on your own again little girl." he said with a pointed glare, "Now I'm leaving."

She hugged herself tighter, dropping her head back onto her arms. She had royally fucked up for the first time in her life.
