What have I done, to be losing you?

Chapter 23 Return

Dragon Hiccup's POV:

I opened my eyes as the first raise of sun seeped into the clubhouse on Dragons edge. I looked down to see Astrid resting on my lap. I carefully moved away from her carefully enough not to wake her. I looked at her again. She looked so peaceful. So did Toothless and Stormfly. My brow frowned and I hated myself for having to go but my loyalty was to Drago and him alone, I hated that I had these feelings and I really did have to discus strengthening my chip to deal with these "feelings" I couldn't risk another spell that could return the pure one to his former glory even if it is for a short period of time, I should have returned by now! Ugh if I don't bring him back something I'm going to pay the price…I looked around for something of value to Astrid, my eyes landed on the necklace the pure one had made for her, it was no wedding ring but it would sacrifice in this tight pinch. I carefully removed the necklace from her neck and put it around my own neck.

"Sorry love it's nothing personal, I had a great night but I have to run, see you around." I said turning and waving goodbye.

I was just at the door when an arrow flew past my head. I froze solid and looked over my shoulder to see Astrid giving me a smile.

"Well good morning to you too, asshole." She said. I returned a smile of my own. "Nice shot, you missed."

"I wasn't trying to turn you into a pin cushion." She replied as she created another arrow out of magic.

I frowned. "Gods you can be so annoying, why force me to stay, you and I both know how things go bad when you cage a dragon."

"I'll take my chances Hiccup, you may think you now me but you don't, I still could shoot you down with my arrows, then what will you do to get back to your master then huh!?" Astrid snapped.

I growled, I hadn't expected this, and she knew it to, she had planned for me to try and escape, but how I hadn't made a sound loud enough to wake her unless…I snarled at her in anger. "You knew I'd take the necklace! You casted a spell on it didn't you!"

"Yes I did, I'm surprised it took you so long to figure out, but that's not the only thing it does, it has injected you with my magic, no matter where you go I will be able to find you." She said.

Find me, shit that would mean that she could track me to find Drago, I can't risk it, I've got to- no that would be suicide, my best chance is returning to base they could figure out how to block or disrupt the singlnl, however if I leave she has that bow and I duet I will be able to make it out of her range in the time it would take her to shoot, not to mention they most likely could seek body heat which I have a lot of, she had me pinned in every which way. I couldn't escape.

"You've defiantly done your homework that's for sure, and you do indeed have me trapped not even I can figure out a way out of here without something going wrong." I said looking at her.

"Good then you know that you're going to behave yourself while you're here." She said narrowing her eyes. "You can't keep me here forever Astrid they'll come for me, and they will kill you, I want to keep you alive for as long as possible! Don't you get it? There is a reason you're not dead yet! I can't bring myself to kill you again! Not while I have 'His' feelings for you!" I growled out in an icy tone.

She looked at me in shock and let the arrow fall away into dust. "You, what did you just say?"

"I can't kill you again." I hissed through clenched teeth.

She just stood there in shock. I rounded myself and took off while she was distracted but I didn't have much time she was on me faster then I would have though been possible. I was almost to the clouds when a sharp pain whipped through my right wing. I looked over at it and found myself face to face with an arrow sticking out of my wing. 'Shit, I have to get back to the ice fortress, I have to push through and pray that my wing will heal.'

I flew through the pain and landed just outside of the base. To my surprise Nick was just coming outside.

"Hiccup!? Your hurt!" He asked hastily.

"H-help me." I said before I was shallowed up by the dark.

I groaned as I stureed from my slumber, I opened my eyes to find myself in the lab. I looked around everyone was working at their computers as if I weren't even there. Nick smiled as I looked at him, I felt drowsy.

"You're awake, that's great." Nick said. "My wing? How bad is it?" I asked in a concerned tone. "It's healing however I'm not sure how the drugs are working for it, you might not be able to do all that much for a while, it'll be very painful." Nick replied.

"All I want to know is if he's still useful to me." Drago growled as he walked into the lab. I bowed my head and Nick followed.

"He should be but he needs to take it easy for a while, the wing was badly damaged by the arrow." Nick explained. I took this moment to remember what happened. "Astrid. She put a tracker inside me, she can find me."

Both stopped and looked at me. "We can disrupt the signal." Nick said. I nodded and looked at Drago. "I brought you what you wanted Master, this necklace belongs to Astrid the Pure One made it for her."

He took it from me and smiled. "Even in your state you did as you were told well done, I want you to get some rest, I want to make sure you're able to return to your duties as soon as possible."

I nodded. My free will, I still had it and I wanted it gone more then ever, but I new I couldn't do that. Not when I new what Drago was doing.

Drago left the lab. I sighed as I relaxed and drifted off into sleep.
