Great story. At the moments I expected something more of SAS and all, but great nonetheless...

I must've read this around five times by now so it's high time I reviewed... I just love it, and keep coming back to it. Alex is wonderful in his adult form, the perfect balance of mischievous and serious. The banter between various characters is effortless to read. There's just the right amount of intrigue to make it exciting but not over-the-top. All in all, you've found a recipe for a perfectly baked story :)

I loved it! So much! Grown up alex fics mixed in with oblivious soldiers and civilians are almost my favourite! Behind teenage alex fics of the same description.. Lol. Thank you for writing and sharing this with us!

Incredibly well written and researched. In character as well. This deserves more reviews, it's a great one shot. One of my favourites in this fandom and I love that you included Tom and Ben in the central story; they're seriously underrated characters.
Loved your OCs too: Not too heavily dominating the screen time or given much background, but still well-defined and gives insight.
Reminded me of my Silver D of E days, though it went no where this bad and certainly didn't see anything exciting like Army camps.

I love the fact Alex can keep such a straight face. XD

Bwahaha, I think I laughed myself silly with that! I love this awesome piece of light-hearted fun, and all the details you've inserted into it XD. Oh, yes, lovely lovely Welsh weather and geography, heh. The wonders of navigation in mist and mountains XD. Totally love it that you pulled the Instructors' view of the DoE stuff, how it was so fun making the pub the check-in point - speaking from personal experience there, or just from exhausted-and-not-only-slightly-jealous DoE-award-taker perspective?

(Though, you got me thinking just how in the world I knew about the Duke of Edinburgh award even before your explanation when I have definitely never heard about it in school or college... Turns out it was ages ago, research for an AR fanfic which never got finished - so, thanks for reminding me of that, lol)

And Alex and Tom - awesome, awesome, awesome duo. I so love it how you let them keep their dynamics of banter, best-friends-forever, which they have in the books, but also how you matured it fitting for their respective ages.
