If John has so many warning signs about Sam, why didn’t he kill him? Like monsters are calling him special, that objectively means evilness.

Funny, my daughter pretends to be a lion (and anything that roars, a tiger, dinosaur, etc) all the time too. She also loves carrots and when we go to the supermarket she always demands a carrot to chew on.
I actually believe that John raised them the way he did not because he wanted to avenge Mary but because he knew from very early what yellow eyed demons plans for Sam were and he just wanted to protect him from all that and give both of his kids the tools to fight it.

I have a two year old, while she is not that articulate (and she is actually pretty articulate for her age, though she speaks three languages so it's a little harder for her to articulate full sentences), it did remind me of her. People think taking care of kids is easy until you have to run after them all the time because they are a disaster waiting to happen.
It is very cute.
Also, John calls Sam Sammy several times in the show. And I think always when they give flash backs to the boy's childhood, so it makes sense that he would call him Sammy when he is so young.

That you so much. That was a joy. Sammy seemed just a tad mature for a two-year-old, but since he is Sammy (aka smart little guy) you can definitely get away with it. So cute! I'm a nanny and I totally know how bad days work, you had me in stitches!
And thank you. John Winchester is the most abused character in the show. I hate it when people turn him into a monster. He was just a single dad basically working a full-time-and-a-half job, and trying to raise two boys, but I still think he was a good guy. So thank you for portraying him realistically.

Thank you for this. Too many authors and too many stories portray John as an unfeeling bastard. I don't think he is. He's scarred from how his wife died and what killed him. And I think that he's a bit of a zealot with training his kids because they're what's left of his world and he wants to make sure they can protect themselves from all the awful things in the shadows.

I ADORED this! I'm a great fan of weechester fics and this was amazing. Toddler Sammy was so cute! I was also extremely pleased that you wrote 'pro John' as I genuinely feel he did the best he could and that his children were the centre of his universe. I felt so sorry for John here when Sammy had one mishap after another, so I was really relieved for him at the end when he discovered it was a cursed coin. Thanks so much for sharing this!
