This was a great one-shot and I enjoyed reading every bit of it! And it's so typically Hiccup for something bad to happen to him when Toothless isn't around and when Astrid's in charge of a Viking-friendly exercise. You realize that they've never really done a whole lot of these training exercises in the series? Or maybe they have, but we just haven't seen it. It may be an idea for some future one-shots. :-)

I really love how Snotlout rescued him and began treating him. And I love how you used the Night Fury saliva for an interesting use. There are times, however, where I wonder if that's true, or if Hiccup was making that up as a form of getting payback on Snotlout? It does make a fella wonder. lol XD

And Hiccup asking the same questions over and over again was funny-not-funny. The interaction between them was great. Thanks for writing this. There aren't enough fanfics that either focus on the side characters or focus on the relationship dynamics between the major and side characters. I feel like they get pushed to the side so often in favor of writing fanfics focusing on the major characters alone. I mean, I get it — I really do. But it gets dull and repetitive and old after a while. And deciding to scout out fanfics with the side characters and those that focus between MC/SC relationship dynamics was a great decision to make. It's so refreshing. I aim to write several one-shots and stories that focus on the side characters, or on the relationship dynamics between the major and side characters. I'm so excited!

I absolutely adored this one. So short and yet it was such an emotional rollercoaster. You've managed to show deep hurt within Hiccup, care in hardened Snotlout, tugging at readers' heartstrings, with a dose of lighthearted - and sometimes sober - humour.
There is a warm, tender feeling to this story. What a marvel.

Oh, I know what you're talking about. There was this time when I was 12 when I was with a friend and had a bad fall from a bicycle, broke by fingers along with hitting my head. All the way back to the house I couldn't stop repeating, alternatively 'I think my hand is broken' and 'Sorry I keep saying that' hahaha My poor friend...
