my family calls cats FurBabies. we have 45 FurBabies, and they all cuddle us when we enter the house after being away for a whole day. and several of them even jump into our arms.

I have a cat named Winky, and I swear to you, if he finds out I'm not paying attention to him when he's awake or not busy, he will literally step all over me JUST to get my attention. He got out today, but as soon as he came back, he cuddled all over me. It was funny, but he's a cute furball.

It probably sounds a bit stupid, but I like the way reader is forced to shift through Ben's room in the same way Rook is. We don't see Ben or find out precisely what he's up to until Rook's closed the door properly and turned on the light. And then of course, ironically enough 'Ben hissed', which forms a cute juxaposition against Rook's cat-like behaviour later on in the fic, as well as the way in which he muses on Ben's less than faltering nicknames for him, ones that allude to the cat-like or furry aspect of his being. It's a little ironic given that the first cat-like behaviour exhibited from either one of the two is from Ben himself.

It was in short, a nice heart-warming scene,with Rook playing into that weird aspect of human nature that makes us give into all that is cute and cuddly, especially when we are given the promise of unbridled affection with no real show on our part, (hence the purring!) and all he had to do was 'surrender' his dignity.

And Ben's a joy as well, with his casual throw-out of pop-culture references even if it's just within his head.I just...this plays into the whole aspect of 'Rook's an affectionate alien that Ben doesn't really get but likes anyway and vice versa,' which is what I love the most about their relationship.
