Megatron didn't die, he said Unicron's torture made him come to his senses and never want to inflict it on other living creatures. He came around to Optimus' way of thinking, what Orion Pax was trying to tell him way before the war broke out and will work towards building Optimus' just, eutopian society.

He flew off to go think about what he had done and missed Optimus' final speech (where Megatron coming to his senses is mentioned). He's utterly reformed, watch the movie again and have a look.
If anything Megatron's more powerful and healthy than he ever was. Starscream, however, is in the scrap.

Arcee would not react well to this.
